  2. Its getting harder and harder to carry over there, and that's why this BG seemed to not be expecting what was coming to him, they are so used to getting away with robbing people I bet he didn't even take the safety off... I am glad this guy was able to defend himself even though I agree it was foolish to try to do anything once he had a gun pointed at him but guess he got lucky or saw something we can't from the video...   Yes crime has gotten considerably worse in Venezuela the last few years, it was bad when I was there and I moved out in 2005. They murder more people in Caracas in a couple of weekends than in Memphis in a whole year....!!! I do not know anybody who has not had some sort of contact, attack, robbery, carjacking or invasion. Many of my friends have lost parents, family members. I lost one of my uncles to kidnappers and we moved out of the country when a second uncle got kidnapped but was a bit less unfortunate because he survived.   I carried for about 2 years in Venezuela, it took me about 8 months to get my permit and it was supposed to last 5 years but then they changed the law and expected every one to re-file, including sending your firearms to the government agency for "inspection" and for them to have ballistics on file for your gun, so of course no one sent their guns in...   The people that could afford it spent the money and bought a new pistol which has to be purchased with a permit (you have to have a permit for each firearm so the serial number of your gun is on it) this made registered guns even more expensive (a registered glock 17 is worth around $ 1500) in the end less and less people could carry or afford to carry, you have to know somebody in the government or pay off someone or just carry and if you get caught pay the cop off. Ammo is also hard to find and you have to have a permit to buy so a 50rnd box of 22LR is $40 (as of December was the last time I checked with my Father in Law)   Last time I went to visit my parents while I was at the house my dad went with my sister to get some food and while as he was getting down a guy pointed a gun at him and demanded the keys and cell phones etc... he asked to let my sister get off the car and he would give them everything and they did and he said the guy even put the gun between his legs so he could receive the stuff my dad was handing over!  of course there was another gunman standing a few steps back so my dad could not do anything... he says they were amazingly calm and cars kept passing by the busy street like nothing! IF CITIZENS CAN"T HAVE GUNS THE BAD GUYS WHO DO HAVE GUNS WILL NOT BE AFRAID!!!   This is the reason why it's so important to protect our rights to carry and protect ourselves... it literally is Life and Death.
  3. I got confirmation email says delivery expected 5/24 too...
  4. Got one too!!! Thank you. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  5. I've had 2 marlin 39a lever actions, one was given to me by my father and I used it around the farm growing up it was the newer version bought at Walmart in 1990 only issue it had was the ejector and the little spring that shot the spent casings out, every now and then you would cycle it and it would get jammed and I had to stop and pull the casing out with my knife and loosen the tube so I could load again... eventually the little spring broke from this and had to be replaced. It was very very accurate though and resting on a fencepost I could hit a buzzard about 100 yds out open sights. The second one I bought last year was a 1952 model 39a and I never got to shoot it because I never could find the ejector that was broken on it the parts are becoming really hard to find if you have an old model rifle and if you find anything on like eBay I watched a complete bolt for mine sell for 125$ so I quit and sold the rifle. I want to get a lever 22 but I'll probably try a Henry or a Browning before I get into the Marlin again. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  6. Plus one on the Hi Power but for someone with little experience with semi autos you should consider another Browning: the BDM has a bunch of safety features good when at the range, for one you can rack it with the safety on and this loads a bullet in the chamber but decocks at the same time, after you finish off a mag you put a loaded one in and press the safety down and does the same thing, you can switch it to double action only too. It has 15 round capacity with a slim frame and nice sights... Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  7. Thanks guys, yeah, I've been shooting the Hi Power a bit (whenever I manage to find a box of 9mm ammo) and it just points very naturally, you kinda just look down the sights to confirm... The BDM has a nice slim profile that makes it easy to point and shoot too.   BTW Nice grips, Krull.
  8. Thank you
  9. I have always been a fan of the Hi Power since it was the first "Big" gun I fired when I was maybe 12, (my father's carry pistol since 81'). I got the PRO-40 in 07', the BDM in January and the Practical last month... The Hi-Power's still my favorite, now I just need to find a BDA and a BDAO...
  10. Hey guys the links help a lot... just sent 12 in 10 minutes. Will come again tomorrow. Thank you.
  11. I downloaded the walmart app on my phone and kept searching "22" when I got up each morning until one day (after about a week) for my local store it said "in stock", went there before work (7 am) and bought 2 bricks of it...   I'd say get the pistol, because of the ammo issue they're less expensive right now and easier to find, I got a new ruger 22/45 MKIII at the gun show for 300 out the door after tax background check and all...
  12. We have a glock 17 gen 2, my dad got it in 96, I could only use it at the farm but would shoot it every chance I got, when I turned 21 in 2000 he gave it to me and I got my permit and started carrying it all the time until 2005 I gave it to my brother, he still has it, I shot probably 10000 rounds through this gun, NATO rounds is all i could buy I NEVER had any malfunctions, I cleaned that gun whenever it got wet or mud on it if I had it while I was horseback riding or walking the fields or whatever... may have cleaned it 10 times since '96... Asked my brother he still uses it and works fine, we've never had to change parts, springs or anything on it...   I don't know about the gen 4s but the gen 2s are awesome. the only thing that happened to mine is the slide got really shinny like it had been polished from putting it in my jean's pocket or in the holster; so you could say the the finish is not very durable...
