  1. Went by the gun shop the other day and he had a few brownells 30 rnd mags on the shelf I asked the price and he said 35.00 each I said my peace and walked out. James
  2. CZ makes a good bolt action rifle worth looking into. Marlin makes nice cheap 22LR and ruger has some nice 22LR handguns and yea even the 10/22 is a nice rifle. I'm not up much on all the shotguns I bought yrs ago the Winchester Defender and it sits right next to my bed loaded with 00 buckshot. I think if I were to choose an inexpensive handgun I'd choose the Kahr over a high point or the likes. They just seem to be smoother and feel better in my hand. There really are many choices out there and right now in reality is don't buy wait till the craze is over. I see the ar's are now dropping in price so soon the market will be flooded with them. Glad to see you're coming back into the sport. I myself took a break for a few years sold off my benchrest rifles and kept a few to. Now I regret selling anything it's gonna cost me 1/2 again over what I got for mine to replace them. James
  3. Does anyone know who has 500 count of Sierra 69 grn 22 cal match bullets in stock? I prefer them moly coated but ill take them naked and coat them myself if need to be. James
  4. Sadly in today's world wounding an intruder only gets us in civil court where we can be sued for everything we own. A dead man can not speak nor can he file charges, although the family may in the instance but regardless I hope I'm never put in that situation and if so I think I'd rather deal with the family over a wounded sympathetic thug in court. James
  5. First is my Kimber Eclipse Pro Then here is my JP AR topped with a Leupold 4.5-14x50 with 30mm tube
  6. I'm needing 8# Varget 4895 and 5# RL15 and Fed 205m primers you got em?
  7. Basically folks need to move out of NY second Gun manufacturers needs to no longer do business with any servent of NY and ammo manufacturers needs to stand together and not offer ammo to anyone serving for the state of NY Let the police swat and such figure out how to get there ammo once it dries up and buy new firearms when there's are no longer servicable. A long shot but something has to be done and now.... I really do feel for the law abiding citizens of NY
  8. I wonder if this will ever make national TV news? http://www.americanthinker.com/video/2012/12/m-assault_rifle_saves_children_from_criminal_home_invaders.html
  9. I have a dealership thru many suppliers and when they run sales I usually buy 5000-10,000 rnds at a time or get a deal on powder and buy a keg or two at a time. Same goes with primers I'll purchase 4-5 cases at a time. I don't have an FFL so I pay what you guys pay. I've been buying firearms now for 25 yrs and I typically avg 3 a month and I've probably sold off 30 at most. And I regret doing that. It's about looking forward and planning, I know many cant or don't have the opportunity to buy like I have. But ammo was cheap at one time. No excuses really.....
  10. The outpost is always higher than any place I've visited. I'm surprised they are still in business to be honest. As mentioned give it some time the shelves will fill up and the prices will go down to normal in a few weeks/months
  11. I've been buying and reloading now for nearly 5 years and to say the least last count I had on 223 ammo is right at 140,000 rounds 9mm 25,000 rnds 45 auto 52,000 rnds and for 22 LR over 200,000 rnds. We won't even get into primers and powder stored way.
  12. Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes.    Dave we may know one another? Your screen name sounds very familiar. Thanks for the compliments as well. I've been out of the long range competition now for around 5 years. I got invloved in running matches in Oak Ridge and I did that for 2 yrs and then the IBS wanted to impose more rules and waivers for shooters to sign at each match that it just got to be too much. So I decided to take a break. I made a believer out of a lot of the 1000 yard BR guys shooting a 22 caliber bullet. That Dasher was pushing an 80 grain bullet over 3500 fps with ES of only 5 fps with a case full of H 4350. In some sense I renewed the Dasher line cartridge in the 600 yard game, as there are now many variants of this cartridge being used mainly in the 6mm range for 600 yard competition.    Decotriumph: I travel to Tullahoma every day for work.   Klamb5: Bell Buckle has one of the best diners to eat at that I know of  within 200 miles of us.   Here's to wishing each of you and your families a Very Safe Holiday Season and Merry Christmas to you all.   James
  13. beams will work if you're not shooting long range competition. use dry air to clean the beam not oil of any sort. if you're a plinker a good powder drop will do just as fine. Invest in a good quality powder drop though. If you decide to invest in a digital scale buy a good one something from Denver instruments. Get a lab grade scale, the ones out there most use for reloading such as rcbs Dillon etc..... aren't accurate and always needing to be calibrated. Even with using a digital scale you should run it thru a APC power backup with a filter built in to clean the current going to the scale.   Also regardless of what scale you use it needs to be setup in a draft free room.  Now in saying all that I have all of the above, I have Harrells powder drop, I have RCBS 10-10 scales and I have a Denver instruments digital scale running thru a APC. My digital scale will measure powder to the .001 of a grain. Most powder scales measure .1 grain a decent lab grade scale that runs around 275.00 will measure to .01 of a grain where as my scale costs 1500.00+ and as mentioned measures down to .001 grain.
  14. Wanted to drop in and introduce myself, I'm James and I've been invloved in shooting now for as long as my dad thought it was safe for me to have a firearm. I'm just getting invloved in pistols mainly Kimbers 1911 and I've been a member of the IBS (International Benchrest Shooters) where I use to shoot 600 and 1000 benchrest yard competitions.  If you wish to learn more you can Google 22 Dasher and then look for TN Tack Driver.   James
