isn't it funny how a glock 23 can make you so happy? i just picked one up off of my friend who is buying a kimber. gun is mint lnib other than 130 rounds down the pipe. right now it is standart but i'm planning on putting ext. slide and mag release and night sights and a lazer light combo for the bedside carry!!

the more i think about it, i already have 12-15 rifles to hunt deer with and only a couple to use on yotes and bobcats, so, i think i'm going to go with the 22-250 as it may be a little better for yotes than a 243. just my thought of the day!

+1 i would love to go back to the days of carrying a colt peacemaker and a 1873 winchester both in 44-40!

there are lots of bag boys in africa! hehe

+1 DNR has some good service! i have talked with andrew rush at twra, he will be able to tell you what to do. i would give him a call 615 293 7701 or 1 800 624 7406

I sold my ar-15 i had set up for yotes but i can use my other ar-15 if i wanted. i'm looking to buy a couple guns when we get settled in the new house. what i'm trying to decide is what i should get....i figure a 22-250 would be great for long shots with very little drop or get a 243 so it can be a back up deer rifle but may not ruin the hide of a yota very much. or should i just get both? lol i have heard of people hunting deer very successfully with a 22-250. just wanted to get some of your thoughts.....

i know it is 375 or larger for the big 5, but would a 45-70 do or a 50 cal muz loader? just wondering.

it is a good thing the PH will let you use their gun if needed!

i have talked to a couple PH in africa(this was 3-4 months ago) they said 223 or 22 250 is great for small game and light plains game but 30-06 or 7mm for all other game except the dangerous 5. actually found that 223 and 30 06 are the most common taken to hunt but with very good ammo. i believe that i am going to have to play it by ear when i get over there if i can hunt or not. we are going to be on the ground in africa for 11 days and it is packed tight. seems like the only free time i may have is for the gorilla tour in the jungle for 1 day but if i can swap that out for hunting i will do!

what about the 17HMR? is that any count, it is a lot hotter than a 22LR.

i put the ghost trigger in my 27 and it did make a difference. i was talking with another member on tgo and he said he has found that a barrel lock or some kind of lock really helps, i can't remember who or what but i may see if i can find his phone number.

the more i think about it the more i think i should wait and do it later when i have more time. that way i can enjoy it a lot more than rushing it.

don't do it! you wont ever be able to have another gun you have had since you were 9 but ar and aks are a dime a dozen

my wife and i are going to back to africa in june! we are going to be gone for 2 weeks which means 10 days in the country and 4 of travel. i didn't think i was going to be able to hunt but my wife agreed that i have a day and a half of free time. i'm not sure if a day and a half will be enough time to hunt anything in africa. we are going to uganda and they just started to hunt again. uganda isn't known for its great hunting but that is what i have to work with right now! if anybody knows anybody that does hunting there or anything that may help me find a hunting ground for a 1-2 days that would be awesome! thanks!

lmao. she is very understanding and is just fine now that i said we will put the kids to bed early, rent a movie and just relax and we are glad the house is under contract! we will be going to africa in june and we will have a nice long layover in UAE i will buy her a burkha!

all i can say is i figured i would get a good laugh out of this and i did! she is mad because i didn't talk to her first, and i can understand that. it is the biggest decision we will make in quite a while. lol

anybody have a couch i can sleep on for a few days? i have been married for 4 years and you would think i would be smarter by now! we are trying to sell our house and i seem to have taken on offer on it before i talked to my wife! i only did so because last week it was under contract and the people backed out and this offer (got an offer, we countered and then they countered back) was the same as the last offer that we were very happy with. but i still got the...you sold our house without talking to me first?! oh boy! it is going to be a long weekend, to bad i can't go deer hunting and be gone! lol

i have a winchester model 94 in 30wcf that was made in 1927. it was my wifes greatgrandfathers gun. i got it and am doing some work on it. the firing pin is broke but is now replaced with a good one. the action before i took it apart was very stiff, i thought it was because of all the dirt and grime. i cleaned it all and put it back together and it is still stiff. i'm not sure what the problem is, i'm going to take it back apart and try and see if something is bent or what. who knows who has had this thing apart before i got it! i got out my 1894 in 38 55 to use some parts out of it to try and help. if anybody has any ideas or knows someone who has a lot of experience with winchester lever actions please let me know!
