40 views but only 4 posted that they signed the petition. I sure hope that a bunch have signed it without posting that they have. This is a good cause. Thanks to all who have signed whether you posted or not!

WORLD WAR I MEMORIAL FOUNDATION www.wwimemorial.org October 10, 2009 Dear Friends of the DC War Memorial: It's been a couple months since our last update. Here's what has been happening. 1. Restoration of the memorial. The National Park Service is going forward with plans for restoration of the DC War Memorial, with funds allocated from the stimulus bill. Here is a link to their restoration plan: NPS PEPC - Rehabilitate DC War Memorial Presentation August 2009 The plan was recently reviewed by the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC). NCPC staff endorsed the restoration plan; the staff's comments are attached below, as are comments submitted by the Foundation. 2. Veterans' Day fund-raiser and exhibition; remarks by former Sen. John Warner For those of you in the Washington area, mark your calendars for Monday, November 9, when we will be hosting a Reception to Benefit the World War I Memorial and Exhibition of Photographs of the Last Survivors of World War I. The reception will be held at the Woodrow Wilson House here in DC. We are delighted that former Senator John Warner, a World War II vet himself and the son of a World War I veteran, will headline the event for us. More information to follow. Also over Veterans' Day weekend, a group of veterans are gathering together at the DC War Memorial site for a cleaning of the memorial grounds the morning of November 7, to support the memorial and call attention to the need for a national World War I memorial. I will forward information on that separately, and I hope those of you who are local will join in. 3. Legislation We continue to seek support on Capitol Hill for support for legislation supporting a national World War I Memorial on the Mall in Washington. H.R. 482, the Frank Buckles World War I Memorial Act, continues to be pending in the House. We have had some productive meetings with various Senators, and are working to get a bill introduced in the Senate. 4. How you can help. E-mail or write your Congressman and Senators and ask them to support HR 482. We continue to gain support for our on-line petition asking Congress to re-dedicate the District of Columbia War Memorial as a national memorial. We now have about 700 signatures, but I would like to get it over 1000 before we start sending it to members of Congress. If you haven't done so, please sign and ask your family and friends to do the same. If each of you gets ten other people to sign the petition, we'll be well into the thousands of signatures. (Facebook is a great way to spread the word!) Here is a link to the on-line petition: National World War I Memorial Petition Thanks again for your support. What a pleasant surprise. Let's hope that yesterday's Crompton shows up against Bama in two weeks. That may let us make a game of it. Bama is good. Yesterday showed that we can be too.

Don't think that I would want it in my waistband!

No PM here but I have been thoroughly entertained today!
-
But if you are still here in 3 or 4 years you will still be "Newbie". Just seems a bit short sighted!

So sorry to hear this. There is nothing like the unconditional love that a dog gives.

Safe. An alarm will be good if you are home but if no one is home a monitored alarm can still only notify the Police and the BG still has a few minutes to get your stuff before he flees. More times than not the Police will not get there in time to catch them in the act.

They will never give up and we can't either.

Who's going in there?

I tend to agree with you but I thought that we would be able to count on Bredesen too. There is no way to know if either Ramsey or Wamp would have done the same thing that Haslam did had they been in his position.
-
I'm not ready to say that Ramsey or Wamp are any better. We thought that Bredesen was in our corner too with his NRA rating.

Howdy and welcome to TGO!

I open carry around the house and in my yard but never anywhere else unless it is an accident.

I'm as optimistic a Vol fan as there is and no one will be happier than me if they were to pull off the upset of my lifetime on Saturday but in all honesty I believe that I may have a better chance at the Powerball on Saturday. Of course if they do pull it off I'm gonna by some more PB tickets! GO BIG ORANGE!!!

First let me say that I am a Titans season ticket holder from the beginning and no one wanted them to win more than I did.....but I hear so many Titans fans complain about how they are not respected by the media around the country. This game tells the reason. They will stand toe to toe with the elite of the NFL and sometimes they will come out on top but not very often. Teams like the Steelers have proved that they are the real deal in big games. They don't always win them but more times than not they will find a way. The Steelers know that they were outplayed last night but look who still came out on top. Last night was just a regular season game but it was big in that it was the rematch of the game that Pittsburg has lost badly. They had the added incentive of defending their Terrible Towels which we had desecrated last year and even with that they were barely able to get the job done. But they did get the job done. The Titans have had home field advantage thru the playoffs twice now but we still haven't seen an AFC Championship game here because they just don't know how to win these games when it really counts. Until the Titans can get over that hurdle they will only be pretenders. Even so I will be there to cheer them on and hopefully I'll see the day that they do earn the respect of the rest of the NFL and see them bring a few Lombardi Trophies back to Nashville. GO TITANS!!!

You can always hope to find a deal on something that you want there but more times than not you can get as good a deal either at you local shop or online. I still enjoy getting my hands on more guns than you can at most stores. No, don't get you hopes up but then if you do find a deal then you will be pleasantly surprised! Have fun.

Corker mentioned as 2012 candidate
Volzfan replied to BigPoppa's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
While I believe that he is far better than anything on the democratic side, I still hope that there is a MUCH better choice that him. Let's pray that we have a better choice than Corker. -
