  1. Haynes bottoms WMA in Montgomery County have about the finest Dove fields as I have ever seen. There is like 3 or 4 or more of them. Never no problem there. It's a ways for you, but well worth the trip. I planted food plots on my property this year, and I hope they bring in the doves. The Deer and Turkey are tearing them up so far. I hate Turkeys and wish everyone of them would meet Mr. and Mrs. Coyote! Turkeys ain't for me and I hope they all meet the worse of fates!
  2. Rob is right. If you want to harvest 3 anterless deer a day in unit L.....I beleive a type 094 permit is required.
  3. +1 NWTF ranks second!
  4. I'd love to see some pics. Just in case you can't ever find "Mink Oil", "Neatsfoot Oil" is the oil of choice, and can be found anywhere shoe polish is sold. Please keep us all posted on your project as there is more than one way to "skin a cat" (coon in this case!). Keep us updated!
  5. Remember now; TWRA says they can control hog populations BETTER now, that you cannot hog hunt, than allowing hunting! What? Read the new regs!!
  6. Just one piece of advice....this is a "cover your ***" statement: white fuel is very very dangerous item to use for "degreasing". Long story, but I blew myself and a groundhog up using that stuff. If I do not have a comercial "degreaser" available, I use Dawn "Green" dish soap and Mineral spirits to degrease. PLEASE CEASE USING WHITE GAS!!!!!
  7. I replied back. I went to satlelite internet and have been off "air" for a couple of weeks. I'm back now! Always remember, that the lower the PH (acidic) the better your chances of successs. Nitrobactor bacteria cannot thrive in a PH of less than three. 1 to 2 PH is perfect for tanning. If your hair was going to slip, you would know it pretty quick.....
  8. Someone done fell out of their chair at TWRA and hit their head on the floor! NO HOG hunting IS NOT the way to control hog populations! By next year, they will be begging us to "shoot them" on site.....I can't think of anything nice to say, so I'm done for this moment at least!
  9. We use Limblines baited with fish parts. Nice thing about, catch a catfish or two in the process. Stagnant back water areas are best for snappers. Please be careful while handling snappers. Their bite is extremely painful and could cause loss of digits!
  10. P.E.T.A........that's why we can't hunt them on the refuge now....good job Heli Boy!
  11. I don't stick me hand no where that I can't see what I'm about to fetch up!
  12. Catfish spine......NO!!!!!!
  13. Shot a little bit yesterday. Heat liked to have killed me. I guess I'll head to the indoor range for a while.
  14. LOL
  15. I think that between me, Crossbow, Muzleloader and gun....I can thin a bunch of deer. I let a bunch walk last year...that's not going to happen again! This property hasn't been hunted since 1999, It has problems. There are a bunch of trophy bucks, but way too many does and young bucks. That will soon change! Since I'm a meat hunter, I got a plan....
  16. Gonna thin them down big time! Too many deer on the property. A whole bunch needs to go!
  17. Went and checked food plots today, and the deer and turkey have DESTROYED our food plots. I told the "land Owner" a bunch of Doe's need to go.....he said "deal with it"!
  18. This is the best time of year. Feeders, food plots, locating stands, and plenty of practice with the bows.....I love it!
  19. Possum is a game animal, and has LESS regulations on them than a NON GAME animal (hog)....crazy!!! The state of Tennessee will get their "wake-up call"....just like Texas and Florida......4 million hogs later!
  20. Only in certain areas, and certain circumstances!
  21. It's all good brother.....wouldn't expect anything less! LOL
  22. Modern inline muzzleloaders are a little better than most shotguns shooting slugs, and need to be in the "gun" season. Set a special season aside for sidelock percussion, and us Flint shooters. Many states have it like that. Then when they do that, we can work on a TOW and LAW season. My 200 acres is much to small for TOW though.
  23. I wish they would give us a primitive muzzleloader season.
  24. I carry, depending on where I'm at. Slithering and four legged creatures worry me not in the least. It's the two legged ones that mean to do their fellow man harm, that I carry for!
  25. I got all the food plots done and planted a lot of milo and sunflower. It should bring in the doves. The deer and turkeys are enjoying it so far!
