  1. Well, if bait has to be removed "10 days prior to hunting", the baited chicken thing may not be effective. Good luck with your "yote" problem!
  2. Take them outside with you while you shoot your .22. Make sure she has on ear muffs. After a few minutes, offer her a reward (kids love cash) if she out shoots you. OF COURSE she is going to. Make it fun for them and the noise will no longer bother them. All of my little grandkids were intruduced to shootinh in this fashion. Have fun, be safe and make a few shooting games to shoot at. Young children get real bored of things very quickly. Keep your sessions short, interesting and fun. But most of all, don't get frustrated and short tempered with her if the noise does frieghten her at first. Some children need more time than others. Good luck and have fun!
  3. Enjoy them while you can guys. They grow up way too fast! Get them started early.
  4. Welcome nieghbor!
  5. Those loads listed are real good loads and are what I use.
  6. We all usually let them walk this time of year. Come muzzleloader or gun season, I feel the fawns are well prepared to fend for themselves and we'll start harvesting a few of the does. Hope this helps you.
  7. Out of our little hunting group of family and friends, collectivily we own 1 45/70, 1 7mm/08, and 3 .308s. Good brush guns and no one plans on getting rid of any of them any time soon. I shoot the 45/70 version with reddot scope. It kicks like an 8 legged mule! We can all reccomend them!
  8. Most people hearing "voices in thier head" are in need of help! LOL
  9. clownsdd.....very good response. I never thought along those lines. Flintlock is number one choice, .308 if I hunt my area with fields and open woodlands, .45/70 if I hunt the stands in the thickets. It would be interesting in hearing from the OP on his choice of areas to hunt. WD
  10. Weather permitting, my .50 Kentucky Flintlock rifle. Otherwise, my Ruger Hawkeye in .308, sometimes my NEF Handi Rifle in .45/70.
  11. I heard a similiar thing also. Can't remember the name though. I'm in the process of mounting his head, and all of the fleshing work so far is with the use of latex gloves. I'll continue to use gloves anytime I need to handle raw skin and flesh. Thanks for the heads up!
  12. Thank you

  20. Hey Robtattoo...is church groups in season yet? LOL
  21. No he is not frozen yet. He has been quartered out and packed in the "beer fridge" in the shop. I'm getting ready to rotate the meat around. Do I need to Ice it? I'ts pretty cold in the fridge right now. The meat smells fine, except for that typical male hog smell that you even have with a domestic pig.
  22. No, he didn't sit through the heat of the day. I surely like the sausage idea. Maybe some brats!
  23. PM me, and I'll give you the name of the Archery shop where we do most of our business.

  25. We'd never seen any in Stewart county either. Never even heard of any being here. It was quit a surprise! Just found out a few minutes ago, that the area we were hunting has a good population of hogs. Well, deer are now on the back burner!
