  1. Is there a list of restraunts that have posted properly (or even improperly)? And if they are posted improperly, can we still carry in that restraunt?
  2. I carry my XDSC9 in a Don Humes JIT slide holster with an untucked shirt. It works for me!
  3. +1 for the Ruger SP 101. I tried one at the range and liked it. That will be my next handgun purchase.
  4. I carry my XD9SC in a Don Humes JIT holster. I carry it wearing a loose button down plaid printed shirt.
  5. I have the Blackhawk Serpa holster. It's a little bulky for concealed carry. I use the paddle holster, especially since the weather's cooler and I can conceal it with a jacket.
  6. I don't worry about carrying in Wal Mart. I have my permit. Any questions, I'd show them my permit. If they didn't like that, I'd have no other choice but to leave.
  7. Nice! I like the SP101. I tested one at a gun range and liked it. It's the next on my list of handguns to buy.
  8. I'd have to find a range that rents one.
  9. I went to a local gun range and shot a .45...it was a Ruger pistol, I don't remember the model. The caliber wasn't too bad, I could manage it better with some practice. But the gun itself, I didn't like it. It kept jamming. I was told that you didn't have a firm grip, it would do that. I thought I had a decent grip on it, but who knows. I didn't like the hammer and decocking thing...I'm used to just racking the slide and pulling the trigger. .45 bullets are expensive compared to 9mm bullets! Maybe one day I'll get a .45 in a Glock or XD.
  10. That's what I was thinking. I haven't tried carrying w/the 16 round mag yet, I've been using the 10 round mag.
  11. Anyone carry XD Service Model in 9mm? How does that fare as EDC? Easy to conceal? I have the SC, I was wondering if it'd be worth it to trade up to the service model.
  12. Same here. At least they've taken the address and DOB off the database.
  13. Mossberg 500 for me. I like the safety, it's easier to look and verify the safety is on/off.
  14. VERY good and sound advice. My first experience with a revolver was with a S&W Model 10. I liked it, did well with it, and should have bought one!
  15. I liked the Ruger Sp101, it was a fun gun to shoot. I only shot the .38s and it wasn't bad at all. It is a bit heavy for pocket carry, so I'd carry it in a holster. I've never shot an ultralight revolver before. The I understand it, the ultralights are something that's easy to carry, but not as easy to shoot. I think I'd rather find a way to deal with the weight and get something that I'd enjoy shooting. I like my XD and I like the semi-autos. But for some reason, I just find revolvers more fun to shoot.
  16. Anyone still carry revolvers in this day and age? I'm thinking of getting a revolver, I've always enjoyed shooting them. I am leaning heavily towards the Ruger SP101, but will also consider the S&W 642 and 640. I am leaning towards the .357 mag--I know the 642 is .38 only. What is the SP101 like shooting 357 mags through it? Brutal?
  17. Perhaps I don't get out enough or I'm not as observant as I should be. I'm glad this is an open carry state, I just don't open carry all the time. I don't get worried if I'm printing or if my gun/holster shows if my shirt raises up if I raise my arms. I haven't had any problems so far.
  18. Welcome aboard! I've never shot a 40 cal, but many people like it. You can't have too many options, though.
  19. I've lived in Shelby County all my life and I might have seen two people carry open, one being my dad. I prefer to keep it somewhat hidden as to avoid all the stares.
  20. That's the same setup I have. Blackhawk Serpa at 3:00-4:00. As for open carry, I haven't seen anyone carry openly. Maybe I just don't get out much. I know that we're able to, I just haven't seen anyone do so.
  21. Glad I could help out in making Shelby County #1.
  22. I went to my local Wal-Mart with my wife not long after I got my permit. I wasn't worried about it, since I had my carry permit. If anyone had asked about me carrying, I would've told them that I was carrying and that I had a permit. I try to conceal it wearing OWB as best I can, that way people don't freak about and think "OMG! HE HAS A GUN!"
  23. Since it's cold here in TN, I thought I'd try thinking warm thoughts. Actually, those in West TN know the summer heat can be pretty brutal, especially in late July and early August. So...how do you carry (IWB and OWB) during those hot summer months? I will be carrying OWB for the most part. I figure I'd wear a t-shirt untucked with a Columbia fishing type of shirt over it. Got any ideas?
  24. The SP101 is what I rented to use when I took the HCP class. I had never shot one before and did very well with it. I was going to buy one until I tried the XD9. I will still get the SP101 though.
