  1. Unless there's a need to sell one, keep both.   But if I were to keep one, I'd keep the 4'.  It's more practical for carry, IMO.

    S&W 19

I'd keep the 686.  But that's just me.
  3. Those of you carrying shotguns, what loads are you carrying?  Buckshot, slugs, bird shot?
  4. Never owned one, but Iiked renting a S&W Model 10 .38 revolver with 4 inch barrel.
  5. XD Subcompact 9mm in a Don Humes JIT slide.  OWB covered by a loose shirt.  I'm not that strict about covering it up.  If the wind blows and exposes it, so be it.  Same when I reach for something on a top shelf and my gun is exposed.  I'm not worried about it.  I don't open carry because I don't want to deal with the questions.  I just want to go about my business.
  6. That was probably the first revolver I ever shot at a range.  I liked it, and did pretty well with it.  .
  7. No, I didn't mean to set up such a discussion.  I did have a similar discussion a while back with my brother, who looked down on revolvers.  He said it's not enough rounds, why have 6 when you can have 10+1 rounds, it's easier to reload, etc.  I told him a good .357 packs just as good a punch...some people hunt with a .357.  Now, it's not something I'd want to go to battle with, but for personal protection, it's fine.    You raise a good point about being an acceptable round count, and that's probably what I meant to discuss...it was late and the caffeine was wearing off.  :D
  8. Those of you that own revolvers: do you ever feel under gunned when compared to the higher capacity semi autos?  I know semi-autos are all the rage, especially since some of them carry 16+ rounds. I know one guy who has a 30 round magazine for his Glock.  More rounds are better!   So he says.   LOL  Why would anyone own a revolver that only shoots 5 or 6 rounds when you can have twice as many?   I have one revolver, and it won't be the last one I own.  I also have a semi auto.   I like revolvers, I think they're fun to shoot. My take on this is I'm not looking to use a revolver to get in a gunfight.  I'm not using a revolver to go to war, I'm using a revolver for personal protection.  My revolver (Ruger SP101) can shoot either .38 or .357 rounds.  Can your semi auto do that?   What are your thoughts?
  9. Awesome.  I also have the Ruger SP101.  And I want a Ruger GP100 as well.  I like my revolvers.
  10. I won't be carrying a knife.  Certainly not my good knife, I don't want to run the risk of it getting confiscated.
  11. Not an issue for me.  I sleep with earplugs in my ears, so I'm good to go.    Truth is, I don't have great hearing to begin with, so I probably won't hear much anyways.
  12. Same here.  It conceals well, it shoots good.    The only possible quirk is that it might be a bit small to wrap your pinky finger around.  Even I have smaller hands, and had that problem.  Getting a Pearce extension (about $10-11 at your local gunstore) took care of that.  It certainly made a difference in the feel of the gun and helped my shooting.
  13. It's hard to beat a S&W 686 (or even a 586) or a Ruger GP100, both are fine choices. Handle them both and see which one "fits" better. You'll know, your gut instinct will tell you. Ditto what Bassoneer said about shooting .38 rounds, it's just fun. I've always thought shooting revolvers were fun, especially shooting .38 rounds.
  14. Ruger Spingfield Amory (not that it's worse than the Ruger...only one can be first) Smith & Wesson (I had the sigma 380. Nuff said)
  15. Personally, I like the stainless steel better.
  16. Exactly! It's hard to go wrong with a good .357 revolver.
  17. Hilarious. I liked that the Glock is the Choe of the Kardashians.
  18. That would be my guess. The first BANG they hear, they'll probably scatter as quickly as they can.
  19. Good thing you didn't get it. LOL But who knows, it might be a good fit for someone. It may have been because I was still new to handguns, but I found the recoil pretty snappy for a 380. Then again, it was a lighter and smaller gun; I think it was listed as 14 oz. My brother shot it and said that it kicked pretty good for a 380...more than our Dad's Glock 17. It just wasn't a gun I enjoyed shooting...and why keep a gun you don't like shooting?
  20. S&W Sigma 380. I bought it in the mid 90s when it came out. I was a total newbie to handguns. I got it thinking it would be easier to reload than a revolver, and that it would be a good home defense gun. Like I said, I was a total newbie. I got it, and did not like shooting it. I kept it, thinking I probably just needed to practice with it. I tried, and I just did not like it. No real sights, had to have a special disassembly tool, and I found the magazine hard to eject. I finally pawned it.
  21. Oops. I suppose it will be more OWB carry than IWB. But I will conisder IWB carry as well.
  22. Oops. I suppose it will be more OWB carry than IWB. But I will conisder IWB carry as well.
  23. I was told a while back that it was more for people bringing in rifles/shotguns into the store, and that it didn't apply to HCP. So I've never checked in, and they never knew I had my XD with me.
  24. I shot a Ruger SP101 .357 mag...I shot the .38 special bullets. I hadn't shot handguns in a few years before taking the HCP test, and I passed easily.
