Have you ever thought about a 5.45x39mm? Get an AK-74 and a 5.45 upper, and boom. You can have an AK, and an AR that both share the same ammo! And, to me at least, I think the AK and the AR both look good in their own respect. The AK is like an Apache, and the AR a Corvette. I, personally, like the way the AK looks. Yea, it may have its downfall here or there, but in the end, I just have a preference towrads AK's. Maybe, one day, an AR will change my mind.

Well, I found an ak deal, and felt as if I could not pass it up, so now, I'm practically back to square one. Unless, anyone wants a mostly assembled milled ak-74 underfolder or a Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle plus ati side folding stock... Traded the VTAC rail for a triangle sidefolder stock, hand guard pistol grip, and 2 circle 11 polymer mags. And to put something with it, I bought a Romy UF kit, mix 'n matched AMD parts, 5 mags, and a 12.5" Nitride barrel. Also ordered a receiver from Nodak Spud. All for the total of... a little under the planned price of my ar idea  I might decide to get back to the AR later, but not right now. Hopefully I'll get that bonus I've been asking for... I still have the lower though. At least I didn't get rid of that...

Right now. my only shotgun is a Remington 870 with a 26" hunting barrel. I have a cases of slugs, 3" 00 buckshot, and #9 birdshot. As of right now it does not have a defensive role, but when I get a new 18" "tactical" barrel and bayonet lug, THAT will be my go-to shotgun. I pan to keep it loaded with a slug in the chamber and the rest 00 Buck, except for the last one. The last shell will be a wax flechette slug. If they don't go down by then, I guess I'm not in for the best of days...

I'm fairly sue they have new management now. I remember when I ordered my used Remington 870 from them, shipping was a little slow, but other than that my order was pretty good. Yeah, living in Clarksville, TN Gun Country I don't think takes them, but I have a friend with an FFL who transferred it for me. And now I think you just made me stray from my AR project to get another AK. lol

Ok, I had the strangest idea. What if, I had a barrel underneath the legal 16" limit and was deciding on putting something onto the end of it. Would a sound suppressor be legal, given it makes the barrel 16" long? Yes, I know it has to be permanently attached, and the $200 has to be payed to the ATF for the sound suppressor. I'm just asking, if done right, would this be legal?

The only one actually available right now is the NiB one. I'm kind of impatient, so I guess I will pick that one up.
-
Ok, so some of you may know that I am building a new AR. The next part I plan on purchasing would be the BCG. I was wondering, which would be the "best" BCG to go with. Would it be the NiB one that AIM is putting out, the Phosphate one by Spike's Tactical, or spend the extra $70 on a Black Nitride one? I don't really know much about these, only AIM doesn't HPT their BCG's (At least as far as I know) and NiB is pretty slick. Phosphate needs to be maintained more, but Spike's Tactical is an awesome company (once again, at least from what I have heard) And Black Nitride is more expensive, yet more durable and still pretty slick, without the "glare" effect from the NiB BCG. Is all this true, or is this some internet monkey nonsense that has no idea what he's talking about? Tell me which one you would go with and why. Thanks in advance :)

Those are some sick ak's dude. Now I feel I have to build another one...

Oh, and I am also requesting opinions on slings. What kind of sling would be good on this type of setup? I'm thinking maybe running 550 chord through some of the holes in the handguard and running it through where that large hole you get in the back of the UBR stock, or maybe doing it conventional-like and running it through the sling loop. Thanks in advance.

If I managed to make you feel as if you were bullying me into not getting a quad rail, I apologize. But I was probably going to end up with a Troy VTAC anyway sooner or later... And now ladies and gentlemen. Boys and girls. You get to witness me blow as money as fast as I can and the most I can on AR-15 parts. :)
-
OK. Fine. I got a quad rail from a buddy of mine (KAC M5 RAS) for pretty cheap, and have found someone with a Troy VTAC Alpha rail of which wants a supreme "Tactical" weapon system and has agreed for a trade. So there. My handguard will be the Troy VTAC Alpha Rail. I actually forgot about the Mini-14 my brother gave me last year for my birthday, and it came with a BSA scope with mil-dots. 3-9x40, so I am going to use that as soon as I get I get a good mount for it, and my backup sights will either be KAC rear flip-up and flip-up front sight gas block, or 45 degree offset sights. And my choice of barrel will be a Blackhole Weaponry 18" rifle length.
-
Looks a bit more like what I want to build. Only possible deviations from this I can imagine as of right now: 20" or 18" barrel *idk yet Quad Rail instead of that Trijicon TR20R FAB Defense Vertical Grip KAC rear Flip up Sight And Maybe a paint Job I will go a head and order my LPK either tonight or tomorrow. Constructive criticism is always welcome. Thanks for replying. (if you're into that i guess...)

my milled ak-74 build. It's a work in progress. All it needs is a fixed canted front sight, some rivets, and some dremeling, then i can put it together, maybe finish the barrel instead of having it stuck in the white. The receiver is from CNC Machine. I go the kit from ak-builder.com all #'s matching kit, except for the safety.

GRAMMAR NAZI ALERT! *you're* Anyway, I've seen them before and was considering buying one, but for the price of the gun/conversion kit and ammo, it seemed kind of impractical.
-
It says on their website that their bolt/ BCG's are only MPI. Are they also HPT or does that even matter?
-
thanks for that. Whenever I see the "Out of Stock" over the picture I usually tend to not click on that item.
-
That looks real nice. I was going to use the BCM Mod 3 charging handle, just forgot to put it in the list. And as for the handguard, if I decide I want to get rid of the quad rail, I will put it up somewhere and (hopefully) trade it for a Troy VTAC or Alpha rail, or a Geissele SMR.
-
Figured I would go with something along this, not exactly like it though. 18" Blackhole weaponry barrel BCM A2 front sight ST rifle length melonited gas tube KAC M5 RAS Fail Zero BCG Battle Comp 2.0 VLTOR MUR PSA LPK no fcg ST battle trigger BAD-ASS safety ST-T2 buffer with Damage Industries Chrome Silicon Spring Magpul UBR The Mako Group T-pod G2 PR KNS Anti-Rotational pins would still need and optic and front/rear BUIS though. Anyone want to educate me there? And how does my set-up sound? Thanks in Advance.

It has come to my attention that no ak pic thread has been officially posted on this forum. I have come to fix this issue. Show off your AK's!

The 1911 I finally ended up with. Kimber Custom II. has about 4K through it, 1K through the current recoil spring. Bought it used from a fellow TGO'er. Came with 4 mags, all are LOADED, including the one in the gun. As soon as my carry permit is approved I would consider this as a viable option, it being my only handgun. Currently on nightstand. G.I. holster (issued to me for my beretta, but works like it was made for the 1911) Pandora playing in background.
-
AHA! I got it! I wish I knew how to make it bigger though :( Anyway, it is a Spike's Tactical Stripped Zombie Lower. Multi Cal. A guitar pick covering the serial number. Spyderco Meerkat holding the receiver at a good angle so I could get a good picture, and Pandora playing in the background.

If anyone could tell me how to put in a picture....
-
Ok, guide me through the parts I will use to purchase. I guess I will start with the LPK. What's the best QUALITY lpk for the price? Right now I'm looking at a Spike's, are they good for the $70 I will have to dish out for it? I will also post pics as i go along. will post a pic of my lower in a few.
