  1. Wow, I used to live in Green Hills with my ex-wife and always felt like it was one of the safest places to live. I think everyone is kind of unassuming and feels that way. I also had two dogs there and plenty of weapons. Glad those people are safe.
  2. Hahaha, y'all's stories are cracking me up. I don't feel so silly now. I'm going to take care of it tomorrow and I will be ordering duplicates! Haha
  3. Wow!! Thank you so much!!!!!!!
  4. I was showing a friend of mine my carry permit because my photo is hilarious and then the worst thing that could happen, happened. I dropped it and watched it slide through the smallest crack of a metal grate on the sidewalk on Broadway downtown. Tried to retrieve it to no avail, and I just got the damn thing in the mail yesterday!!! So, apparently I have to go fill out some form to get a new copy? Am I gonna have to wait yet another crazy long time to get a duplicate? I was furious with myself for being so clumsy. UGH! Can I get more than one copy?
  5. Haha, yes.. Everyone needs a Saturday Night Special. I don't know what it is. It looks like yours and many other SNS but I know it says Made in Italy on the gun. It's real solid and quite heavy. It's not a .380 either.. It's a smaller caliber. Next time I return to Mississippi I'll grab it.
  6. By the way, my mother took these pictures and sent them to me. I apologize for the camera work. :O
  7. Hey y'all.. My uncle passed from ALS a few years ago and left a bunch of guns. My mother kept only one of them. This gun has some interesting stories associated with it. My uncle kept it in his boot and supposedly had to draw on some Bandidos that forced him to pull over on his motorcycle in Texas. They kicked the gun away and beat him senseless. Anyway, what is this thing? I know it's Made in Italy and has some good age on it.. But what is it besides worn out and in need of some TLC?
  8. Well, yep. My head is spinning from the choices and I have decided that I will probably have a drawer full of holsters like some of you guys. Haha! I purchased a Safariland low riding holster as I don't particularly like things that ride high as it can interfere with the kind of clothes I wear. Also, I had to be realistic with myself with how often I would actually take care of a custom leather holster.. Which would get neglected. Haha. When I grow in my holster maturity I will get a leather one, but for now I figure if it's good enough for metro it's good enough for me! It has Level 3 retention.. Which I will need to put some hours into training. I'm also looking into taking some more training classes around Nashville.
  9. I've noticed that a lot of people open carry with polo shirts tucked in and things like that. Honestly, that isn't my style. Due to the nature of my business, certain style is important and open carry won't always be an option.. But I tend to wear casually (and working) ots of plaid western shirts open with an undershirt and cowboy boots. Leather holsters are looking more and more attractive to me.
  10. I was absolutely kidding about the oil. Thanks for your input. I'll check it out.
  11. I appreciate your response! I'll be carrying my Beretta 92. I've never had a leather holster before, so I wonder if I should douse it in oil with a gun in it and put it between my mattress and box spring? Haha
  12. There seem to be so many choices. Initially I was drawn to the Serpa design, but then I started reading horrible things about negligent discharges and whatnot. Then I started going through Safariland, Bianchi, DeSantis, etc. I like the idea of a holster that's not too high and against my body. I'm fairly new to the OC concept though and would like to learn more about appropriate holsters and what level of retention is good. I feel like Level 2 would be as much as I need. I'm not LE or anything. This is so confusing.
  13. I'm still a new guy here, but I thought I'd share this story. I play music for a living. I was heading to a quick rehearsal over in East Nashville about 7 months back, and if you know that area then you know that the apparent danger level can differ street to street due to the transitional nature of East Nashville. While driving down the street about to reach my destination I encountered a group of about 15 young adult males seemingly engaging in a verbal altercation. I honked my horn and asked politely if they could move as they were blocking the road. I continued about 5 or 6 houses down, parked my car, grabbed my guitar and started walking on the street toward the house. All of a sudden, I hear a bunch of gun shots ring out and saw dust rise up from being hit right next to where I was standing. I jumped in the ditch and checked myself for holes. Then I left my guitar and ran into the house and dialed 911. The 911 operator answered and I told him what was going on and the location, and he told me he gets calls for the area all the time. I then asked if he'd send some police officers out. We all waited at the window for an hour and not a single police officer showed up which was incredibly frustrating. I drove back the next day to pick up my gear in the afternoon and saw a woman crying outside her house because these men shot up her house. She claimed it was her neighbor. Anyway, the first line of defense should be yourself. I don't want to rely on anybody but me to defend my life should the situation ever arise. Not to mention, when I'm off the road I am playing on Broadway at the Honky Tonks and am constantly carrying large sums of cash from gigs. Many of my friends have been robbed in parking garages. One of whom was beaten by six men. They stole $600 from him... A whole day of pay from three gigs. The doctor said the blows to his head almost killed him. Anyway, that's my story. Anybody else ever have similar experience? What made you decide? Did something happen?
  14. I was thinking about buying one myself. The prices seem to be all over the map.
  15. This turnaround is amazing to me. By this speed I should have one by now. Haha. Makes me wonder if something is holding me up.
  16. I took the range test, went to the dmv and got my prints two weeks ago. I called and they said background checks are 3 weeks behind schedule. FYI. Also, there was a lady on her third range test as the instructor refused to pass her because she was a terrible shot.
  17. Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm looking forward to growing in my knowledge of guns with y'all!
  18. I live near downtown. I used to reload with my dad when I was a kid, but I don't think I trust myself to do it anymore! Looking back, I don't know how he trusted me to do it either! Haha
  19. I haven't changed a thing on her yet, but time will change that probably.. Hah. :)
  20. Hi there. I've been shooting my whole life but have just started buying and collecting firearms in my adult life. I'm 25, play music for a living, been married and divorced already(and have a few premature gray hairs to show for it,)... I feel relatively inexperienced overall so I'm looking forward to learning more and more! In the past month I've purchased a Beretta 92FS(my favorite gun) and a Ruger LCRx snubbie. Looking forward to buying more!
