Once the bullet leaves the muzzle, it doesn't matter if it came out of a Rossi or a Colt Python. Good article. I have always like Massads articals. I still have an RG-22, that was my first handgun and I bought it from an older friend when I was 16, different times then. I paid $20 for it. It's still probably worth $20 but it goes bang every time you pull the trigger.

I'm far from an expert on ammo, I have chosen what I load on articles in magizines and opinions of others more knowledgable than me. When I seriously started thinking about what I carried and what I loaded it with was in the mid 90s when I bought my Kimber 1911. What I was used to shooting in it was 230 grain hardballs and Federal Hydro Shock 230 grain. Of course alot more harball but when the federal got old I would buy new and shoot up the old, it's what I have always kept loaded in my 1911. One drill I have done is put several numbered sheets of 8-1/2 x 11 paper on a target base and rapid fire one shot on each piece at 7 yards. With my Kimber I am able to keep each shot in the sheet I was shooting at. That's in the torso of an average man. I can do that with this loading so it's just what I am most confident with and even if it's not the best load, it's still a good load. Now the reason I got the XD-9 was the unavailability of the .45ACP model at the time and another motivation was that in the future I might sell it to one of my sisters or sister in law. Recoil doesn't bother me, I shoot a .357 snubby and had a Raging Bull .454 I used to shoot alot for fun. I actually traded it in for the more practical XD-9. I didn't pistol hunt for deer that much. Anyway, it's just a matter of what I am accustomed to and what I shoot well with.

I found the Wolf ammo at a gun store in Nashville and the Winchester at a store in Dickson, just lucked into it. The Winchester has brass casings. The old Russian surplus I have bought in the past at the gun show for a bag of 100 at $10 was junk, some rounds would lock up in the chamber after firing and thought I would break the extractor to get them out, some didn't fire at all. Must be WW2 era leftovers. I read once that the old ammo had some coating on the casing that would melt in a hot chamber and actually glue itself inside the chamber. I always thought that the casing expanded and locked itself in the chamber. Whatever it does they are no fun to extract.

I can't see that being legal no more than the home owners association making a rule that no one can stand outside with their neighbor and discuss politics. As far as discharging firearms in the city limits, most cities have a law against that but can't deny the ownership of firearms. These home owners associations think they're their own little dictatorship.

No one gets to choose the situations they may face weather it's a shoot out with an attacker at a distance, then I much rather have my 1911 or XD but if I have my left hand holding the knife hand of an attacker fighting with him I believe the snubby would be the weapon of choice for me. Like I said though, the good guy doesn't have the choice. I try to keep an eye on suspicious people and stay aware of my surroundings the best I can. As far as the recoil of .357s in a snubby it doesn't bother me but follow up shots are slow.

Yes it is. I bought it in the early 80s. First deer rifle I had, it's a fun gun to shoot.

So far I have carried a 1911, XD-9, and sometimes carry my Ruger SP101 in .357. I like the big .45ACP round and the accuracy of it, 8 isn't a bad number of rounds but my Kimber has missfed a time or two, and it is big and heavy for a concealment gun. My XD-9 sub compact is a sub round but I do have 15 of them and it's very reliable. My little SP101 is light and small but powerful with .357 loads. There's only 5, and recoil is a female dog, and not very accurate past a certain range but, I have argued with a couple of people that it is the perfect side arm in certain situations such as if you were wrestling with an attacker and had to draw and shoot quick. You don't have to have the perfect grip, no safeties, accuracy is no factor since you will probably shove the muzzle in the attackers torso or only be a few feet away from him, and it will go BOOM 5 times in the torso. I love my autos but I still feel protected when I carry my Ruger.

Ditto. It's good that the law isn't specific, I conceal my handgun but don't have to worry about the bottom of the holster showing if I reach for something at the store, or it is printed somewhat by the shirt I wear.

They're worth more than $50. I had the 971 ported .357 w/4" barrel I sold to my sister for a house gun, a snubby .357 I sold to a friend, and a 4"barrel 38 special I gave to my dad for fathers day. All had a smooth light action that rivals a S&W.

I have an old M-44 Mosin Nagant carbine made in Poland. I bought it at the Goodman gun show for $65. The dealer had a table full of them so I picked out the nicest looking one. The dealer also let me swap the bolt out with another. I took it home and tore it apart, sanded and cleaned the stock the refinished it, only could do so much though, and cleaned all the metal and re blued the worn areas and bayonet. This M.N. has the smoothest reciever and barrel than any other I have seen. I can also put all rounds in a 3" circle at 100 yds with iron sights, and bench rest. Anyway, I really like it alot, it shoots great with good ammo,(buy good ammo). It's more than enough gun for deer or just about anything else around here. It you can find them, Winchester 180 grain soft points shoots well, and newly manufactured Wolf ammo shoots decent but be careful of bulk Russian surplus ammo.

Had one on my MAK-90 for a while, I like it. Bought the MAK shortly after the 94 AWB. That's what interested me in buying it. Yep, the AWB sure did alot to stop those mean looking military rifles didn't it?(sarcasim) LMAO.

.45 ACP - 230gr. Federal Hydra-shok in my Kimber. I have always loaded this since the mid 90s when G&A and Handguns authors used to talk about the Fuller index of one shot stops and the 230gr. HS was the top .45 load. I'm assuming no one takes the Fuller index seriously anymore because I never read about it anymore but it's still a good load and the most accurate in my Kimber, and reliable. In my XD-9 I currently have it loaded with 115gr Remington HP for the simple reason that I bought 3 boxes of 100 for $12ea and have shot up everything else. But, I have 15 of them ready to go, their fast, accurate, and reliable. Someday soon everything is going to be .45ACP though.

I wouldn't doubt if he has hinted to Nafieh to kill the bill in his little sub-committee. Anyway, I hope the Senate and House put it on his desk so everyone can see his true face. Bredesen hasn't had a veto overridden yet has he? If not, this would be a good bill to start with.

I have owned several, .38 and .357. I wouldn't put ten thousand hot loads through them but IMO they are decent revolvers, good inexpensive defense weapons. One thing about all the Rossi revolvers I have owned, and these were from Interarms, is that they have a nice trigger action for such an inexpensive handgun.
