  1. ^That one still needs some work so I can't do pictures now but I have my personal Romanian to do, an RPK, and some form of a mutt build so there will be plenty of pictures of the build process.
So far as tools a press is a given, I have the Harbor Freight 12 ton.  Great? Not really but it works.  It's slightly wobbly and that makes me really nervous because I've seen lots of things come flying out of presses, and a guy catch part of a press plate with his face.  Best solution is shims or just square it all up and weld some things to take the slop out.  Anyway that was just an aside.
Outside of that I'd really, really recommend the AK Builder tools.  Riveting jig, trigger rivet jig, and barrel press kit.  Robert Forbus also makes really nice AK build tools like populating tools and barrel press out jig, recommended for when you do the head space.  Also headspace gauges, those are critical.
Is the mutt going to be a Khyber build?

  2. Video no, but I can put up a list and pictures of what I have and how to do it. Hopefully some more experienced will also hop in for anything I'd miss plus any other details.
    Works for me

  3. Awesome. This definitely seems like a thread which will be full of pictures. Any chance of you making a video on what you need and a how to?

  4. So, the biggest gripe I had about Glock, the finger grooves, is gone on these models.
I never could find a gen 1 or 2 to pick up, but actually bit the bullet and got a 17 and 26 Gen 3 some good while ago from Trading Post here, just because they were such a deal. But I guess those will do me, finger grooves and all,  can't see my buying any more of them just because they finally followed my advice. default_smile.png

Take them off with a dremel and stipple if you don't like them. Worse case scenario you pay for a new frame for $100 plus shipping.

  5. Why on God's green earth did they not add front slide serrations? Why? That and some metal sights and I'm good. Metal sights are easy enough but front serrations should be standard by now.
Because they are unnecessary IMO. The manual of arms that Glock teaches revolves around the power stroke method and no press checks. +1 on the metal sights.

  6. Keep an eye on Jerry's calendar, word is Dave will be back next year. Abner has now started instructing and has some interesting looking classes on the calendar to be hosted at Hilltop.
He will be back May 19-20 if I remember the Facebook post correct. I like Jerry and Hill Top quite a bit. I love Abner's YouTube channel and look forward to seeing some footage from the classes.

  8. I'm not even going to post what I did even though they were not horrendous scores. You just can't win much at a World Championship by shooting your average even if it does have a 9 on the front of it.  But like last year my son out shot me again and did mange to win a shoot off to be the yardage champion in the Kreighoff 100 preliminary handicap event.  There are people that have been shooting at the Grand American for 40 years and have yet to win a trophy.

Funny that you mention your scores. After they updated all the averages, I went and pulled everyone's I associate with. Made sure that myself and the old man saw them. Hope that we can get a marathon or two organized at the DC Range in December.

  9. Nice shooting. That definitely shows time and hard work. A shout out for your folks also. I know first hand what it takes to support a youth shooter Lots or windshield time and $$

Looks like you had a better day than I on Saturday. My excuse was the wind and crazy light and I am sticking to it default_smile.png The only thing I brought home was a bunch of empty hulls and a couple of Tshirts.

I shot on bank 1 for all but four events so my score should have been better. Strangest weather I've seen at the Grand. Glad Rizzo and I weren't the only TGOers in attendance.

  10. Not been but have seen several posts from people who have attended. Reid Henrichs of Valor Ridge is one and Dave ####e of NSR Tactical have been within the last year. I understand that there is alot off one handed shooting and fast target presentations. Seems like a great place to train.
