  1. Primers have been difficult to find lately, but they are out there. The Reloader's Bench has them every so often, and I believe Bass Pro Shops carries them. Don't know about their prices or stock level, though. The Outpost Armory in Murfreesboro had a bunch of Wolf primers in a couple of weeks ago. There's a company called Champion's Choice located in LaVergne. I believe they're primarily a mail order/ catalog operation, but I think you can buy some items in person.
  2. Every light in the house is no longer on. Trace got the electric bill. Even celebrities are feeling the pinch.
  3. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/firearm-accessories/27274-vortex-stirkefire-red-dot-any-users.html No personal experience with it, but it seems to be well liked.
  4. $10.00 goes to the state of TN for the background check. Some places price them at XX amount plus TICS ($10.00 background check), others include it in the transfer price.
  5. Welcome.
  6. What's your budget, and are you willing to wait a bit? Zanotti Armor makes a line of multi- piece safes. The safe is shipped in separate pieces, then assembled where you want it. It can be disassembled and moved. I looked into them about a year ago, and at that time they told me there was a 6 month wait between the time you ordered to the expected delivery date. I can't speak to the quality of their stuff, as I've not seen it in person, but it might be worth looking into.
  7. The difference, as someone else stated, is that those things don't make the news. A gallon of exterior latex paint doesn't get the emotions riled up like, well...anything gun related, as far as the media is concerned. If they could find a way, or the agenda to twist paint cans, lawnmower gas, and anything in an aerosol can, then we might see more code enforcement. As for how they would know, I don't know. Aside from knocking on every door and hoping for an honest answer if they asked, the only other way to know would have to be monitoring the sale of powder, and I don't see how that could be legal without the consumer's consent. I'm not in favor of this by any stretch of the imagination. I just think it's an unintended consequence of the buying craze that happened around the election.
  8. You know, I wonder if this is spurred on more by the 'gun rush' around the election than any sort of KGB type crackdown. I could understand the fire marshal being concerned about some 'gun nut' he saw on TV with tons of powder in the basement. Granted, that's none of their business, but I'm not convinced that there's any great nefarious government crackdown at work in this specific situation. Misguided, and sticking their nose where it doesn't belong for sure, but I think gun owners, with the help of the media, might have brought this on ourself. That said, I really don't have anything stocked away. Can't find any to buy!
  9. You can do that with everything except the receiver with the serial number on it. According to the ATF, that piece is technically the 'firearm' and must be declared to the shipper.
  10. Be sure you go to an actual UPS terminal, not a UPS Store. I've tried to ship ammunition through a couple of different UPS Stores, and their store policy will not allow them to do it, even though UPS will.
  11. I've also looked at this from Burris Burris 3x32 AR Tactical Sight
  12. I've done searches, and read tons of threads. Still need help, though. I need optics for my new AR. I plan on shooting out to 125 yards, max. I'm not sure if I want to go with a red dot or traditional scope. I'd like to stay under $400.00 for the optic and mount, but can give a little if there will be a noticeable difference. I've looked at several scopes, and to be honest I really don't know exactly what I'm comparing. One is a 1-4x24, another is a 4-16x50, and another is a 16x42, just to name a few. What do I need to be looking at for the range I want to shoot? Right now, I'm looking at a couple of Milletts, some Super Snipers, and the Leupold Mark AR line. I've also looked at the EOTech 511, but I don't really understand how the holo sights would have any magnification for longer range shooting. Any help would be great.
  13. Put one together yourself. Buy a stripped lower, then install a parts kit and stock/ buffer tube on it. Then buy a complete upper and pin it on. You can get it the way you want it the first time, instead of buying off the shelf, then spending more swapping on a railed handguard, maybe a different stock or grip.
  14. Flipped the sights around, they should be installed correctly now. I think the next one will be a SBR. I keep looking at this one and thinking the barrel should end about where the rail does.
  15. Thanks! Do what!? Figures. Managed to build the whole lower without spending hours chasing down errant springs, only to put the sights on backwards. Win some, lose some...I'll turn them around in the morning. Not to worry, though,I'll be coming by for optics soon and the MBUS should be a non- issue.
  16. Thanks! I didn't shoot enough to get a feel for accuracy, hope to remedy that tomorrow. I'll let you know. Thanks. It's always better working on a project with friends, especially when they've done it before. I didn't launch the pivot pin detent off into the wild blue yonder, but having help to hold the pillowcase up so you can see what you're doing is great. I think this AR multiplying thing could be an issue. I'm already looking at stripped lowers again and thinking about a long range paper puncher, or a larger caliber, like the .458 Socom or maybe .50 Beowolf. I doubt that happens anytime soon, though.
  17. +1. I've personally shot that gun. Very nice shooter, and Rightwinger is a top notch guy. I was just up at his place last night when we built my AR, like the others have said you should have no worries dealing with him.
  18. Thanks! I put a few rounds through it this evening. A bunch of ARs I've shot like to throw brass back at me (I shoot left handed), including one Colt that hit my right ear muff with every piece of brass it ejected. This one throws the brass almost straight out to the right.
  19. It all started with the sale at Hero Gear. "I'll just buy the parts, and stick them back until I'm ready to finish it", I said. I guess the upper and stripped lower got friendly while I was at work, because when I got home the next day I had a lower parts kit. "That's strange", I said. Curious to see what would happen, I put the parts kit beside the receivers and went to work again. Sure enough, I came home and somehow found a stock, grip, and buffer tube assembly in my hands. I placed them beside the other parts, and somehow I found myself in Rightwinger's shop on Thursday night with some brass punches and great company. The results? Still a few things to get (sling, optics), and I may change the grip, but I'm happy with it.
  20. Not familiar with the Beretta, but I know that some handgun sights are designed for you to cover the target with the dot on the front sight instead of placing the target on top of the dot. Not sure if that applies to your gun, though.
  21. That's not the rifle. That's the keychain. The rifle is in the house. I believe the guy in that photo is Paul Kim of Surefire.
  22. Are you loading the photo to PhotoBucket? Once it's loaded to PhotoBucket, are you using the address of the picture, or the address that's in the address bar across the top of your screen? It needs to be the address of the photo.
  23. Once you take the picture, load it to your computer in a place that you can find it. Then, set up an account on PhotoBucket (if you don't have one already). Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket Upload your pictures to your PhotoBucket account. Once you do that, beneath the picture will be a drop down menu of links. Click on the bottom one, with the [ IMG ] beside it, and copy it. Then simply paste that into your post here on TGO.
  24. What do you need to know? I've got a wood stove that I cook on during the winter. They're really no different than a regular woodstove. Some of them have far smaller fireboxes (8-10 inches) to build a hot fire with less wood.
