Looks like one of our members is celebrating a birthday today. Happy birthday and best wishes for many more to come!

I've got some 223 that I'd like to burn off and about 200 rds of 45acp. Who knows, we might try to make it to On Target today and may see you there. Too early to say for sure right now as the day's just getting started.

Incredible pictures! Even more anxious to attend a session or two now.

Not really. If regular OC is enough to stop humans but yet there is another mixture that is made for animals, is regular OC not effective on animals? Is there some chemical in the Animal spray that is more effective on animals?
Animals don't sue you when you hit them with something that is more potent than legally allowed for use on humans.
-
But what is special about the animal spray that makes it illegal to use on the 2-legged animals?
It would seem to be an irrelevant question given that you're interested in stopping humans, right?

I think they have upgraded a lot of that site in the past two weeks. Just a few days ago some of the links that work now didn't work at all. It's nice to see that they are putting some effort into revamping the site!

I gather that pepper spray / mace and tasers are. What about collapsible batons?
Granted a baton could easily turn deadly depending on how you employ it, so training would seem to be an absolute must before one started carrying one of those.
Eagerly awaiting feedback on the subject.

Welcome, and feel free to jump into the middle of any discussions that you find interesting!

I believe that fellow TGO member Loaded247 owns a Steyr handgun.

We're working on a searchable database of ranges... hope to have something for folks in a few weeks.

A spare magazine wouldn't hurt anyway. May pick one up and try that along with different ammo.
-
Yes, the gun is reasonably clean, oiled and using a new factory mag. I'll try new ammo and if that doesn't do it, off to Ruger it will go.

I still need to get by Franklin Gun Shop, browse their offerings and make their acquaintance. I've heard good things about them from several people now and it's always good to know the folks at your local gun shops.

Last weekend I picked up a stainless Ruger 10/22 carbine to use for plinking and teaching our kids the fundamentals of firearms safety and use. I've shot several 10/22 rifles in the past and always found them to be very reliable.
Unfortunately the rifle that I purchased is jamming very often. It has less than 500 rounds put through it to date, all of which has been Federal Americal Eagle 38gr JHP bulk box ammo bought at Wal-Mart.
The problem seems to be failure to fully eject. Spent casings are stove-piping and appear to be severely bent by the extractor, and the subsequent round is being jammed in beneath and behind.
I've noticed that some of the unfired rounds have bullets that are pressed loosely into the casing. Loose enough that you can twist the bullets around inside the casing, but not so loose that you can pull it out of the casing by hand.
That said, I'm fully open to the idea that the ammo we're using is just crap and that it's causing the problem. I just haven't had a chance to buy some traditional ball ammo and try that in the rifle. I'm also open to the idea that the rifle is still within the "break in" period and this problem may go away after a couple hundred more rounds.
Thoughts?

I'm very envious of anyone who has a shooting range behind their house. We have got to move to the country for our next home.

I don't think he's talking about the puppy spray. Think bears...
That's the stuff I want, then!

Jay, glad to see you here with us. How do you like your CZ?
-
Very happy to have you here with us and to have you as a refuge from the PRNJ. I don't think I could live in a state with as many restrictions as it, Illinois and California have. Glad you made it out alive!

I sent him an e-mail. I think I'm going to get some new sights anyways and just have him install them. The thread that CF posted scares me a bit, but there are always unsatisfied customers no matter where you go.
I emailed him about installing some Meprolights that I have. He said if I got them to him by Friday, he could have the slide back to me by Tuesday. Just so you know what sort of turnaround you're looking at.

Is that Infidel holster OWB?
It may be the one for me seeing how I am an infidel you know...
No, the Infidel is IWB. OWB is a lot more comfortable but I like IWB just for the sake of consealment.

Do any of you guys have experience with the Advanced Technologies Shotforce collapsible AR style stock on a Remington 870? The reviews that I have read seemed favorable.
-
I think he means just the pistol grip, no stock. Those are pretty hard on the wrist. I've shot about four rounds through one of those once and that was enough for me.

Glad to have you here among us!

Welcome! If it won't snow here, maybe you can send some warm Florida weather our way instead.
Any other Police Officers?

I'm definitely willing to start a LEO subforum if enough people want it.
