  1. That is pretty much what has happened to several of us that have tried to ship. Even though it is legal; most won’t do it. As far as keeping your mouth shut; if you do that you are committing a crime under Federal law. You are required to notify any shipper that you are shipping a firearm. I have given up on it. I just figure in FFL fees; if that makes the price too high I pass.
  2. I have the 700 VLS heavy barrel in .308 and it is a tack driver. Anyone can say anything they like, but to shoot 50-100 rounds in a range session with a 30 cal bolt is brutal. I think if I had it to do over I would go with a .223. I don’t hunt, and unless I go to Illinois I can’t shoot at over 300 meters. I would think the .223 would do fine at that distance, be a lot easier on my shoulder and a lot cheaper to shoot.
  3. I have a DPMS Panther LR-308AP4 I'm pretty happy with. But then I already had an M-1 Garand. (30-06 not .308) Either are great weapons.
  4. Take a look at the CrossBreed SuperTuck or the D.M. Bullard. I got my SuperTuck in less than a week. I have the SuperTuck for a M&P40c (That I don’t have anymore). It’s really nice I just don’t care for Kydex, so I think I’m going to try the D.M. Bullard for my 3†Kimber SIS. Custom holsters?? I don’t keep a gun long enough to wait for a holster. http://www.crossbreedholsters.com/beltslide.html http://estore.websitepros.com/1565531/StoreFront.bok
  5. Carrying without a permit is illegal. How will the level of the crime charged make your job easier? So we have gone from…. “I have a right to keep and bear arms under the 2nd amendment of the Constitution of the United States!†To “Okay, Heller says I don’t have a right to bear arms; but I have a right to own them as long as they don’t leave my home.†To “Since we don’t have a right to bear arms; let’s make it a felony.†<O:p</O:p Nope, I’m not buying into that. If you think it will help you take gang bangers off the street; it won’t. You are already arresting them on felonies and they don’t stay in jail. <O:p</O:p People who have committed no crime other than having a gun in their car will become victims of this action. That may be oaky with you; but with all due respect it’s not with me.
  6. Is carrying guns without a permit a problem in Tennessee? I’m going to take a WAG and say… No… using guns in the commission of a crime is the problem. I’m pretty sure that using any gun illegally is a felony. There are people in Tennessee that are not thugs that under some conditions may illegally carry a gun. It should not be a felony. A woman takes her kids and flees and abusive relationship and is afraid the guy may kill her. She does not have the time or the money to get an HCP. If she is stopped and the gun is found should she be charged with a felony? I say no. Many of these community leaders in areas like Memphis and Chicago are good people that are grasping at straws. I’m sure that they understand that making illegal carry a felony will not change anything, but they think they need to do something. What they need to do is enforce the laws they already have. If someone pulls an armed robbery with a firearm they need to go to prison for a long time; but it doesn’t happen. The argument is made that they can’t lock them up because of prison overcrowding. If that is the case let all non-violent offenders go and keep the violent offenders.
  7. So you sent an email to an advertiser, the advertiser sent it to this Pepe guy and then he replied to you? Am I following this correctly?? Don’t paraphrase… what did he say?
  8. Then the violation was committed by him in the state of Tennessee. I don’t see you having any problems. Unless of course he was to get arrested for the illegal sale; in which case your gun would be seized as evidence.
  9. Don’t keep them long enough to find out. There are too many guns and too little time to be hanging onto anything too long.
  10. You don’t have to worry about that either; they can’t. That is why the SCOTUS stopped short in the Heller decision. States Rights trumps the 2nd amendment. The Federal government will never force a state, any state, to allow firearm carry unless the state wants to allow it.
  11. I think that language was probably put in there to let the public know that a cop can still disarm anyone that he thinks may be a threat. I don’t think it is a loophole; the intent is clear.
  12. That would require 50 states agreeing… I don’t you have to worry about that happening.
  13. When our instructor looked at my target he said “I don’t know if I can pass you, I can’t count the holes in your targetâ€. Of course he was kidding, I would guess yours was also.
  14. Can I assume that you weren’t using a drill bit, but were using a 5/64†Allen wrench/ hex key? Is the allen wrench spinning in the hex in the screw head or is the whole screw spinning and not coming out? If that is the case (wrench spinning in hex) do you have a metric allen wrench to try?
  15. It’s not, but Americans need to understand that it is not a bad thing, and we are in a war to survive. Then buy products that are made here that don’t cost anymore. Cars and guns made here don’t cost anymore. People hung on every word Greenspan said, until he said the economy could not recover until we brought our manufacturing base back; then people didn’t want to listen to him. Why? Because they didn’t like what that meant. Crimson I’m sure you believe that. And I mean no disrespect but that kind of attitude will not help fix the problem. We need to act and we need to do it now. We are taking no action right now that I see will create jobs or put people back to work. Giving a bunch of money to GM without having them tell us how that money will help cause more people to buy their product is ridiculous. So is handing out money to the states to do with what they wish. When I was in the Saturn plant many years ago they showed me how the plant was built with a modular design. They said this design allowed them to change over from building Saturn’s to Cadillac’s (if need be) in a much shorter period of time than before. If that is true and Saturn’s aren’t selling. And the Feds and the state want to give money away… how about helping with the cost of retooling that plant with something in the GM line that is selling and close a plant in Canada or Mexico?
  16. Sure… but I’m betting the $25 million is already budgeted. Just like the tobacco money, I don’t think this money is going to be used for the intended purpose. This isn’t supposed to be a handout… correct? It is suppose to stimulate the economy?? Sorry, but I don’t see where road construction that is going to happen anyway is going to do that. How about using that money to get new business to locate to Tennessee in the form of discounted property or tax incentives?
  17. My parent’s generation’s retirement problem has been health care costs. My generation’s problem will be property taxes. Our homes will be paid for but we won’t be able to pay the property taxes. Industry is moving, jobs are going overseas and to Canada and Mexico. The worse the economy gets the more services we will need. Who do think is going to pay the bills? Certainly they are going to raise taxes; they will have no choice. Those that can afford to keep their homes are going to have to pick up the losses from industry leaving and people losing their homes. On a different note… I heard today that Tennessee is going to spend $25 million of its stimulus money on road repair. Isn’t that friggin wonderful? That money is suppose to be used to help create jobs or stimulate the economy. More money ear marked for pet projects.
  18. It’s neither a political move nor a fire at will. It’s an economic problem so it needs an economic fix. It’s called protectionism. In my opinion it shouldn’t be attempted by the government; this risks are too high. It should be implemented by the consumers. But after reading what some here have to say I don’t know how effective it would be. We also need to quit racking our brains about who we can blame this problem on and think about what we can do to fix it. As you can see I made the mistake of laying this right at the feet of who I think was responsible for it and that didn’t go over so well. So yea, let’s say it’s all the governments fault. What do we do about it?
  19. I don’t carry concealed because I don’t want people to know I have an HCP; I carry concealed because I don’t want thugs in the area to know I’m armed. This “Chris Peck” appears to be a nut case. He has to be loving all this publicity he is getting. He knows that posting the list is unethical; and he doesn’t care. The only way it will be stopped is to cause them financial damage. I never heard of this rag until this story was posted here, but I’m not from the Memphis area. Is this a big paper in Memphis?
  20. Well unless we put people back to work in good paying jobs; it has to happen. Property taxes and sales taxes are going to sky rocket. We can stop this anytime we like. I’m more concerned about how bad it will get before the people decide to act.
  21. It doesn’t sound to me like he doesn’t believe what you are saying. It sounds like he just wants to go through an FFL. I have seen that requirement posted in ads right here on this forum. I wouldn’t require it, but I can see how some people might want to do it.
  22. An N frame S&W is too large for duty carry. Anyone that knows me knows I love my Smith & Wesson’s, and I have owned several N Frames. But I just never could get use to carrying an N frame on duty, let alone off.
  23. Good Who is “WE In case you weren’t paying attention we just elected a President because he is black. Now we have to listen about how we have come so far and what a great thing it is that we have a black president. I don’t think the minorities are going to be willing to hand everything back over to a white guy. Where are you going to find a black conservative Republican that is pro 2nd amendment, pro gun, and can have a chance of winning? I’ve been there, done that, got the T-shirt. I was arrested for no crime other than having a gun in my car in Illinois. It cost me thousands and no one helped me. Not even your beloved NRA. They said they don’t get involved in criminal cases. Civil disobedience will do nothing but get you a criminal record.
