  1. There is nothing wrong with the Springfield G.I. as long as you don’t get your feelings hurt when you shoot against a higher end 1911. I have owned them all at one time or another and you get what you pay for …to a point. Check with Mike Patterson at the saddle Shop in Arrington. I was in there once and he had a new one in the case at right under $500. If he doesn’t have one; he will get you one. I have an S&W stainless target and a Kimber SIS right now. I think if you wanted to add a little to your budget the S&W 1911 is the best deal out there right now. They are around $900 new, but I have seen them going for 600-700 used. You are never going to get everyone to agree. I don’t have too much to say about the Beretta because I don’t own one, and I see it as a duty gun; not a carry or target gun. I wouldn’t walk across the street to get a Glock if they were giving them away free, if I had to keep it. Don’t expect to trade your G17 at a shop. Sell it right here and take the cash to the shop. Good luck.
  2. For range ammo I have never found anything better or cheaper (in something you would want to put through your gun) than WWB form Wal-Mart.
  3. Whether or not you are charged with a weapons violation really depends on how the cops found the gun, what they were looking for when they found it, your attitude, and their discretion. There are a few ways it could go.
  4. The number of rounds they say has been fired really isn’t important if the bore looks good. I wouldn’t be worried about 1100 rounds in a rifle. That would cause me to pass unless I was buying the gun real cheap, or I knew the reloader knew what he was doing.
  5. Yes, don't do it. One of the nice things about stainless is that you don’t have to worry about the finish. Congrats on the new 1911. If your S&W performs like mine I think you will be very happy.
  6. In the last few years I have had problems with two HD boxes. I just take them to the local office and swap them out for new ones.
  7. So do I. I have almost everything Comcast Offers with two HD/DVR boxes. I don’t think the DVR could be much easier to use. I just wish Comcast had some competition; my bill is crazy.
  8. Depending on the circumstances that may be one option; it is up to you to know if it is the best option or not. If your shoot is questionable or you aren't sure it might be your best choice.
  9. The scope is a Simmons ProHunter Handgun scope 2-6x32. It is mounted on a CMP Scout Scope Mount (no permanent modifications required). http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=785343 http://estore.odcmp.com/Store/catalog/catalog.aspx?pg=product&ID=830&item=830&sfv=&cat=&desc=&udc=&mct=&vndr=&ba=&pmin=&pmax=&note1=&note2=&note3=&note4=&note5=&max=100 I removed my original stock and replaced it with a new walnut stock from Wenig Custom Gunstocks. I finished the stock, stained it, and used clear gloss polyurethane as the final finish. http://www.wenig.com/welcome.html Thanks.
  10. I would present this question to your local District Attorney. But the sprit of the law is not to keep you from carrying when you leave work, and the letter of the law is not clear as to employees.
  11. As Fallguy said there is no black & white answer, but let me try a short version… 1. You can’t shoot someone because you are afraid of an azz whipping. 2. No one gives a rolling rip down a razor blade if you feel you are in danger of death or great bodily harm. They only care what a reasonable person would feel. And they will make that decision based on the evidence presented to them. 3. The cops first on the scene; the investigating officers, the states attorney; they all have tremendous influence on whether or not you end up in court. There are people involved; so it’s a roll of the dice.
  12. Yep. Mine stands up to the recoil of a 30-06; so yes. I did this as something to try. While its fun to target shoot with; you can forget about fast target acquisition. x

    Good grief.

Well…. It was his first gun. And now that he is an expert he is letting you know that it would make a good first gun for you also. After he goes to his first training class he will probably do another video with some more great information.
  14. All we have now are career politicians; term limits do nothing to stop that. By the time you become President you no longer have to be concerned with a career. They can’t “retain power for powers sakeâ€. They can only retain office if they are elected by the people. To take the will of the people away is wrong.
  15. Prepping for what? You are concerned that Combat Marines are going to kick your door in? Fill me in on how you prepare for that?
  16. He isn’t even in office yet and you have him reelected for more than two terms. That argument doesn’t even make sense.
  17. I have never supported term limits; they need to be gone. What do you get with term limits? A President that can do whatever he likes for 50% of the time he will be in office because he doesn’t have to worry about being reelected. If the people want to elect a president; they should be able to. A “lame duck†politician is worthless. (Even more worthless than a regular politician) How much worse can it be than what just happened? We just had a race to see if we were going to elect a black or a woman.
  18. So far the only damage I have seen done since the election has been by those claiming to be “Pro Gunâ€. I don’t see a situation arising where I will have to stop posting pictures of my guns, or posting on a gun forum.
  19. I went into the station in Murfreesboro at 7am on a Tuesday morning when they opened. (They are, or were closed on Mondays) I did my HCP stuff, renewed my drivers license and had a new picture taken; in and out in 20 minutes. They were courteous and friendly and no one batted an eye when I mentioned HCP. However… I think the fingerprint place was closed and I had to go there the next day. I called ahead and I was there 5 minutes.
  20. It’s better than the options I had in Illinois. Although the questions on where you could carry were a lot easier to answer.
  21. I believe that everyone should be allowed to carry a weapon with no gun free public zones (within reason) and no permit required. However… our elected legislators do not agree with me. With that said… carrying into a school is a crime. The chances are (in my opinion) astronomically higher that you would get caught carrying with no threat present; than while defending yourself. How would you be looked upon? You would be looked upon as exactly the kind of nut case the general public is worried about. If the TV news got hold of the story they could put their spin on it and you could be looked at as a potential school shooter. Which would greatly impact the outcome of your charges and your sentence. If you used it to stop an armed robbery or school shooting? Well… if you can engage a gunman that is threatening someone and kill him with no innocent bystanders getting shot; of course you would be a hero. I doubt any charges would be filed. However, if you engage an armed robber that is not an active shooter and the situation does not go your way; I doubt the outcome will be good for you. You may die and cause others to die; in which case it won’t matter to you. Or you may cause an innocent bystander to get shot. In that case a bunch of people that have days or weeks to look at your case will decide what you did wrong and what should happen to you. That could possibly be at a criminal trial but at the very least there will be a civil proceeding. Carrying a firearm is a lot of responsibility. Carrying a firearm and making a conscious decision to break the law could have life changing or life saving consequences.

    Kel Tec Rifle?

Only if you are shooting one round at a time. The SLED (Single Loading Enhancement Device) is a single round En Bloc that was designed for slow-fire competition where you have to load one round at a time.

    Kel Tec Rifle?

I don’t have a Kel-Tec rifle, but I have a Kel-Tec handgun that is .223 and uses AR magazines. Many weapons use clips… unfortunately they usually aren’t the weapons being referred to. The SKS, Mauser K98, Lee Enfield, 03 Springfield, S&W revolvers, M1894 Steyr Mannlicher, and the list goes on…. The Garand uses an “En Bloc†sometimes followed by the word “clip†sometimes “magazineâ€; either is acceptable.

    Ruger 10/22

An alternative to the 10/22 is the Remington 597. I have owned both. The advantages to the 597 is that it is a little closer to the size of a real rifle, it is very accurate right out of the box, and I got it on-sale at Bass Pro with a with a scope for $145.00. The disadvantage is that it jambs a lot until it is broken in. (500-1000 rounds) I don’t know if they have fixed that yet.
