Nice shooting!
A friend got a Marlin 1895 SBL two or three years ago right before the price on them went sky high. His 300 grain loads were pretty stout, but his 400 grain loads were just plain no fun. Either one would probably put a whooping on a deer, as you demonstrated.

I am no Vaquero expert, but I believe there are two versions and the original was identical (sizewise) to a Blackhawk frame. The "New Vaquero" is closer in size to a Colt SAA. There may not be enough difference between the two to matter, but it may be worthwhile to confirm which Vaquero that holster fits.

I have its older early 1980s pre-Mark II tang safety cousin in .30-06. It was my dad’s and I killed my first deer with it. I’ve always liked M77s. Nice rifle, GLWS.

That scandal was in 1958 and Sam Phillips’ brother was Jerry’s manager.
Select-O-Hits, which is owned by Sam W. Phillips and John (Johnny) Phillips, was co-founded in 1960 by their father, Tom Phillips, and uncle, Sam Phillips, the legendary founder of Sun Records.
Tom Phillips began his career in music as the road manager for Jerry Lee Lewis for a number of years. He had invested all of his savings into an upcoming 1958 European tour when news of Lewis marriage to his 13 year-old cousin hit the front pages. Lewis' career came to a sudden, although temporary, halt. The tour was cancelled, and Tom was broke. Sam helped him by giving him a job in the Sun Records warehouse and allowing Tom to live with him while his family stayed behind in Mobile, Alabama. Eventually, Tom saved enough money to send for his family in 1960.
Tom was not satisfied with running the warehouse, so with the help of his wife Lucille, he opened a small record store and one-stop that provided small, predominantly black-owned record stores with everything from phonograph needles to display racks. In the mid-1970s, Select-O-Hits began to concentrate more on distributing and less on retail and one-stops. The retail store closed in the mid-1980s, and the one-stop followed a few years later.
I spent 22 years working at Select-O-Hits and wouldn’t have had that job if Jerry hadn’t had questionable morals. I’m not okaying it, but the outcome provided for me and my family for a number of years.
I've been there a time or two.

Years ago, a friend was driving down a country road when a truck approached. They both got over, but not enough and knocked off each other’s mirrors. They swapped insurance information and the other guy lived on Needmore Road. When my friend’s mother heard that, she laughed so hard she almost needed CPR.

I’ve read and watched several reviews where the reliability problems went away when different magazines were used.

I don't care what breed it is, you have to watch them around children that small. It could and has happened with plenty of other dog breeds.
Exactly. I don't get the desire to own some badass dog pit or otherwise, but having them in the house where babies are crawling around on the floor is idiotic.

But when household pets suddenly turn on children, there must be a reason.
The reason is they are just dumb animals and one can never be sure what they will do, even if they are the person who feeds them.
I used to work outside and often went to homes. Over the years, more than a few dogs that knew me and saw me often would suddenly get aggressive out of the blue for no apparent reason and act like crackheads. The owners always sang the same tune - “I’ve never seen him act like that!” Well you have now. No animal is completely predictable. Pit bulls get a lot of bad press, but this is true for pretty much any breed.

Begging the Saudis for more oil until November seems to have backfired.

I'm pretty sure the UPS guy is wrong.
Not according to UPS’ new rules. “Firearm Products” are restricted to FFLs, etc, but UPS now defines pretty much any gun part as a “Firearm Product.” From their website;
“Firearm Part” is any part or component of a Firearm that does not by itself meet the definition of a “Firearm.” By way of example only, Firearm Parts include, but are not limited to, barrels, stocks, grips, firing pins, sights, and magazines/clips.
“Firearm Products” means Firearms and Firearm Parts. The term Firearm Product does not include scopes.
UPS accepts packages containing Firearm Products for shipment only as a contractual service and only from Shippers who are licensed importers, licensed manufacturers, licensed dealers, or licensed collectors (as defined in Title 18, Chapter 44 of the United States Code) to authorized recipients, as outlined in the approved UPS agreement for the transportation of Firearm Products.
To transport packages containing Firearm Products, the Shipper must enter into an approved UPS agreement for the transportation of Firearm Products.
It doesn’t look like Fedex restricts parts yet, but I wouldn’t be shocked if that also changes.

Talked to a fellow at the range yesterday who was trying to ship a slide at UPS (not the UPS Store) and was told that he had to A) have a UPS account B) sign a firearms shipper agreement and C) schedule a pickup. He was not sending it to a manufacturer for warranty work.

This. We always hear about how kids will be grown before you know it, but sometimes your parents are gone before you know it. Boy do my wife and I know.

They’re usually driving 100mph with one fender and bumper missing. The driver is also most likely to shoot at you for driving too slow.
Only 100? That must be the boomers thugs. My guys that pass me are doing 125+
Every time I drive to South Memphis for work it's a sport to count the bumpers on the side of the road.

No one has mentioned Baby Jack’s which I think has some of the best pure meat in town. I like Central’s sauce. But Baby Jack’s is so good you don’t need sauce.
I’m a big fan of Baby Jack’s, but can’t speak intelligently about their BBQ or anyone else’s. I’m the weirdo who is always more interested in their smoked turkey or chicken

Failing to process rape kits is beyond my comprehension. Just do it. Allocate the resources & get it done. With the DNA database growing daily, more & more violent predators can be caught & locked away. Yet...it isn't happening. The world feels "broken".
What resources?

It's a Memphis thing. About 90% of the crime involves a gray or black Infiniti and the occasional Dodge Charger with drive out tags, presumably bogus. The cars are often stolen.

I think it was Chuck Taylor who said “Beware of the man with one gun.”
I don’t see anything wrong with switching from one platform to another for a while. But the guy who carries a CZ on Monday, a Glock on Tuesday, a 1911 Thursday, and a J-frame Saturday is not helping himself.
