  1. Thanks. I spent a month in Kingsport one weekend taking an NRA instructor course. Great course and nice range there.
  2. I have gone from carrying a 4" Model 19 Smith to a 2 1/2" Model 19 Smith. I also carry a Bodyguard (Mdl 38) and sometimes a 332 (.32H&R Mag centennial style). All of them are great guns. I have confidence in all of them. IMVHO no one really needs any more gun than that. They feel better carrying an auto with 17 rds, more power to 'em. But the snub just fits the bill real well.
  3. I'd echo all the sentiments about too much finger on the trigger. Somewhere is a target that diagnoses all the problems depending on where the bullet lands. Squeeze the gun as hard as you can, as high up on the backstrap as you can hold it. Then pull the trigger smoothly back keeping alignment. If that doesnt work, have someone else fire the gun and make sure that isnt the problem.
  4. Mikey D has no friends. At least not outside of prison. And that streaking charge? It got thrown out, along with the publc indecency and drunkeness charges. Man, you can't pee anywhere in this county without getting picked up. More seriously, as for the robbery, what can I say? These things happen. At least they didnt come in and shoot my butt. But if someone offers you a Rock Island 1911 nickel finish in .38Super, check the serial numbers.
  5. Yeah, some of that was just junk. Packing heat? I could see it used once as an enticement for the actual story, but leave it out. Makes us sound like gangsters. I've packed suitcases, laundry bags, grocery bags but never heat. What are they thinking? Also Shelby county has more permit holders. It also has the largest population in TN. Correlation? You decide. There are any number of things that could account for it, including being more dangerous than anyplace else. As for the comment by the police authority, so more guns=more crime? No, I dont think so. More gun in the hands of idiots and criminals = more crime. More guns in the hands of licenses law-abiding private citizens=less crime. Someone needs to do his homework.
  6. In my Bodyguard I use SPeer GD 135gr. I just liked them. I tried the Buffalo Bore 158gr LHP +P+ and it was too much. Buffalo Bores are loaded to full power specs. I do carry 6 as a reload though. All hollow points have optimal velocities: too fast and it will fragment and no penetrate enough. Too slow and it wont expand. Shotgun News had an article that mentioned off hand that the ideal load for 9mm was 147gr sub sonic. I never heard that one before. I have some Lapua CEPP-mega 9mm in the shop. It is a solid point profile with hollow point characteristics. I cant wait to try that one out.

    45 GAP

I agree. And think that is the best scenario for it. Springfield already discontinued its line of GAP pistols. SIG isnt going to pick it up anytime soon. I see it going the way of 400 Cor-Bon. Nice round but nothing special to recommend it.
  8. Hi, I am a new FFL in Nashville with a retail shop on E.Trinity Lane. Some of you may have seen me on the news 2 weeks ago. Anyway, I am trying to distinguish myself from some other gun shops by being internet savvy (I spend waay too much time on line), informed about the products I sell, accomadative for trades, and open to transfers. Obviously other dealers in town do some or most of these things but I honestly think I'm pretty good at it. Anyway, I look forward to meeting folks both here and at the shop.
