  1. Robbie, next time I manage to make it to a Rangemaster friday night, I'm gonna have my shot timer listening in spy mode on your run. I'm curious to see what the split time is on your reload, compared to mine. Probably 1.0-1.1 versus 1.3-1.5... There are dozens of other things that would probably be more worthwhile to think about during a match, but like I said, I'm curious.
  2. Sorta One drop on either side of the slide, in the groove for the frame rail. A light film around the outside of the barrel near the muzzle A light film on the barrel lugs/locking block A light film on the inside of the top of the slide where the barrel hood makes contact. ...And a small drop on the end of the trigger bar where it contacts the connector. (That last one is the important one that most people leave dry.)
  3. If I did ghost reloads like you, I might be quicker. (Don't blink, or you'll miss Robbie's load) :D
  4. I've got one of the $269 West German Police trade-in's on order from AIM surplus. I'll post a pic when it arrives.
  5. Put a couple of drops of oil on the plastic guide rod, and work the spring around to spread it out. It'll quiet down just fine. You do know that, while a Glock can run bone-dry and filthy, you're supposed to oil the interface between the connector and the trigger bar (this is the most important drop of oil)... Right?
  6. This one is seriously cool. Watch an SSR-Master shooter do the whole reload right in front of you, several times over. Couple Glocks thrown in there, too: And another indoor video. My reload in the first stage was 1.39 seconds. The last one (3, reload, 3) was 1.42 seconds. Not bad for a lefty, with all the levers on the wrong side.
  7. I've got one on order from AIM. A friend of mine is likely going to order one shortly as well. As soon as anything arrives, you'll be receiving pictures in this thread.
  8. Bought a higher quality camera than the one I used for my previous attempt. This works sooooo much better. Aside from a little bit of my head visible in the corner, and the camera being aimed a bit high for the first stage, I really don't think I could ask for this footage to be better: I think I walked away with a 1st place finish fairly comfortably, and the people down there were really fun to shoot with. Might have to try and shoot with 'em every couple of weeks whenever I have time.
  9. Dang. Called them before I left the Hotel. Good thing... Their main guy is out of town, and it'll be a couple of weeks before they hold another informal IDPA match. Brought my range bad along for nothing, it would seem.
  10. http://www.secondamendmentgunshop.com/ ...I hope this is the place. Just printed out a map, and I'm leaving Memphis now.
  11. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=47791 No, I'm not kidding. A $6 airbrush. Duracoat is thick. Through a gun or a *good* airbrush, you'll need to buy some reducer to thin it. The cheap airbrush will spray it just fine while it's nice and thick, just turn the regulator up to about 40 PSI. Acetone works great as a thinner/remover until Duracoat dries. And it's cheap. Here's a quick "how to" I did on the orginial ODGreen finish I applied to this gun: http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=786852&highlight=duracoat
  12. Yes. Strip the sights off and detail-strip the slide. Mask. Sandblast (aluminum oxide, actually) the slide. Degrease like crazy with acetone. Mask again, handling only with gloves. Mix the duracoat and hardener at a 12:1 ratio. Spray. Let sit 20 minutes. Spray second coat. Then a third. (On a color like Titanium, it needs to be clearcoated afterwards. OD Green did not). Let it sit for about an hour, then toss it into the oven overnight at 200 degrees. You can skip this step, but it will take longer to cure. Most people only toss it in the oven for an hour, but I sprayed it on Wednesday, and have an IPSC match to shoot tomorrow. If the gun in question is your baby, I'd wait a week before reassembly and sight installation. Shooting it will be fine at this point. Keep it away from Kydex holsters for at least 2 weeks, though. After that, you're good to go.
  13. Broke out the airbrush again. This gun probably hates it when I get bored... http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=871197 Whaddya think?
  14. Bump... Trip is coming up. Getting off work at noon, going to have my luggage and range bag packed and ready to go (Insert 'you might be a gun nut if...' joke here). If you make it, look for the guy with the two-tone G34 that you've never met before. I got bored and duracoated my 34 (again) on wednesday.
  15. Federal HST, 147 9mm Gold Dot, 124, 9mm There is no excuse for Hyrda-shock any more. Federal designed that round decades ago, and HST expands so aggresively there's no reason to use the old load.
  16. No it's not. A G19 in a CTAC. That's the best for everybody. Some guys just need to mess around with those skinny metal guns for a couple of decades before it gets figured out. I wasted a couple of years with those high-dollar german guns before I figured it out myself.
  17. What kind of idiot would do that? ...One of these days, I *will* talk you into a 34... MUUUUAAAAaaa HA HA Hahaaahaa Aren't you tired of "8 and a failure... Four... and 10 and a failure" every time we score your run on a 30+ yard stage? (This is coming from the guy who was 50 points down on the standards at the Arkansas match, so I should probably shut up)...
  18. I've built 2 romanians so far. I do weld-builds exclusively, and wouldn't consider doing it any other way. It's just sooooo much easier than rivets or screws. I built the first one on a Tapco flat with the pre-bent rails. Mistake. Don't buy those. The AKBuilder flats are infinitely superior, and bending the upper rails yourself means they're actually in the correct spot. Post up if you have any questions, and I'll help as best I can.
  19. What kind of gun was it, and how thick were these coats? I did 3 super-thin coats on my slide (5 on the sides where the holster wears most) and the lettering is still every bit as legible as the factory finish. I use a cheap ($10ish) harbor freight airbrush for duracoat. Unlike expensive ones, it'll spray duracoat un-reduced. I have had better results adding some reducer to thin it, so that the coats are lighter, though. Pictures here: http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=786852&highlight=duracoat
  20. What, you mean "Unload" and "If you're finished, unload and show clear?" aren't the same thing?
  21. Thanks. Nice sig, except that the 19 is better. Uh... send it to who?
  22. Shoot him? He was the non-threat on that stage. I missed him 8 times. On purpose.
  23. I've always loved hatcam/hosercam footage from matches. It's like real-life Halo. Getting the gun into the frame of a camera that doesn't have a fish-eye lens doesn't seem that hard. Until you move around while loading, shooting around barricades, etc. My head moves a LOT, as it turns out. Or at least, enough to make adjusting this thing in the middle of a match into a royal pain. But this turned out pretty well. For a couple of zipties and 10 seconds of forethought, that is. Here's the video you're used to seeing. A few shooters taped from over their shoulder with a handycam: [ame] [/ame]Here's just the footage of myself, with all the somewhat-aimed hatcam footage spliced in there: [ame] [/ame]Things that might be unclear: The first stage was 1,1,2,1,1 on the upper row (reload) 2,2,2 on the lower row (reload) and finally 1 to each head. The second stage had a tac-load required after T2 was engaged.
  24. Gonna be there May 19th? Oh, how strict on the rules are they? Gotta wear concealment, for instance? (I probably won't pack a vest just to wear for 3 hours if I don't have to). Interesting... A quick check of the IDPA website found me this page: http://www.mctsclub.com/Match%20Results/2008/2008MatchResultsMain.htm There aren't any Masters, and only occasionally 1 or 2 Expert-class shooters listed in the scores. Here in town, we've usually got a couple of 2 or 3-gun Masters for me to chase, and always one or two other guys in my division (SSP/EX) that I feel the compulsive need to outrun. It'd be weird to be alone in Expert, so to speak. Not that I'm complaining. Any of you guys aware of other indoor matches during the week in the area, within a 30-60 minute drive of Nashville its self? Here in Memphis, we can shoot weekly at one indoor range on Tuesday, another indoor range on Friday, every other Saturday at one outdoor range, and a weekly (and a big monthly match) are held just south of the state line in Mississippi at another outdoor range. The idea of only one indoor shoot a week is forgeign to me. I usually shoot between 6 and 8 small matches each month, and hit sanctioned matches whenever I can. (Anyone on TNGunOwners going to the AR State match on May 3rd?)
