  1. Thats a great disease to have
  2. My OSW arrived today I had to wait 6 months for it to be built, but she is finally here! As she came out of the box: Some big ugly guy holding it: After installing my YHM .308 can: I will post a video of it being fired in the coming hours/days, but here is a quick range report: I am amazed at the overall fit and finish of the rifle. I got to handle a similar OSW and many other DSA rifles at SHOT 07, but I guess I had forgotten just how nice these rifles are. One thing that I was not expecting, was the barrel was threaded 1/2 28, which is standard for the AR platform. I was expecting the rifle to arrive with a standard FAL threading of 9/16 24 reverse. I had even ordered a YHM QD flashhider/suppressor adapter in this pitch to fit my .308 Phantom Suppressor to the OSW when it arrived. I guess I will just install this on another FAL at a later date. I first shot the OSW in both semi and then full auto without the suppressor. Typical 7.62 sound, and to my surprise, not very much muzzle rise or recoil. I had expected the 11" barrel to turn the OSW into a heavy hitting, fire breathing dragon, but I am happy to say that this rifle is very manageable and a joy to shoot in this CQB configuration. I next installed my Yankee Hill Phantom .308 suppressor. This is a very high quality suppressor, and the user has the ability to shoot both 5.56 and 7.62 through the same can. This gives the user the option of only paying for one tax stamp, and one suppressor, but having the ability to shoot it off of both platforms. The OSW ran very well suppressed, with a few FTE issues that I attribute to both ammo (surplus) and the fact that rifle needs around 300 rounds (per DSA) to get everything broken in. The YHM suppressor makes this rifle sound about as loud as an unsuppressed 5.56 rifle. **Actually, I would say it sounds about 20% more quite than unsuppressed 5.56mm. Keep in mind you will still have the ballistic crack of the round, but that crack is further down range, and you will hear the round strike. Overall I am about 243% happy with this rifle, and I am looking forward to burning up a few thousand rounds with it in the coming days/week. I will try to update any critical range report info, and will do my best to post some action shots and footage as it becomes available. (forgot my camera when we went to shoot it at lunch)
  3. Eddie Let us know if you find some smoking deals on 5.45x39 as well, since Dan and I are getting ready to order select fire AK-74s I figure 10k rounds should be enough to keep us going for a few months
  4. Holy ****! What school do I need to attend to earn one of these!!!!
  5. I agree that berets suck, but these represented organizational headgear earned by those of us that went above and beyond. Now they are just a hot smelly hat.
  6. Dont get me started on the whole "everyone is special" movement Here are a few things that have happened in the past few years, and a few things to come in the coming 12-18 months that should make everyone feel REAL special. Rangers lose black beret, and are forced to switch to a tan one. This is done because Gen Eric Shinseki thought that the way to make everyone an elite warrior was to issue them a stupid beret. We all know this has been a great success Combat Action Badge Non-Infantry and Non-Special Forces soldiers (The only two jobs that can earn the CIB) cried and complained that they didnt get to wear the Combat INFANTRY Badge when they deployed and were in danger. The solution? Lets make a badge for every swinging dick to wear if they are even in the same 4 digit grid as someone that was mad or thinking ill thoughts towards them. Changes that will piss you off even more: It has already been announced that the Army is going to be dropping the Dress Greens as their Class A uniform, and adopting a version of the Army Dress Blues to be the standard dress uniform. What does this mean? 1. Soldiers (like myself) assigned to Special Forces, Ranger, or Airborne units will no longer blouse their pants and wear Jump Boots. 2. No more "combat patches" or unit patches. 3. No more Tabs. * Ranger, SF, Sapper tabs will be worn as metal mini badges on the left pocket. 4. Only E4 and below wear berets. This means NCOs, WOs, and Officers wear the bus driver (service) cap. What does it really mean? Special Forces, Ranger, and Airborne leaders wont even wear their beret while in Class As. Anyway, I could go on and on...but the bottomline is; the Army is finding ways to take the special things earned by warriors away from them, so that the REMF soldiers dont feel inferior.

  9. Opps...TWO lefts.... Thanks Donnie
  10. Suntrust on the Blvd? You need to continue down Dianah Shore Blvd towards the downtown square. Continue around the square making 3 left turns, and then take a right onto College St. We are 1 mile down on the left. **DS Blvd. is also 41A, so if you follow the signs for 41A once you hit the square, you should be fine. ***College St/41A is also the road you take to get to Cowan and Sewanee
  11. Nope. Try sending me an email: joe@hero-gear.com
  12. I dont have one installed on a FAL, but I have plenty installed on ARs (223 and 308) she could try out. Or, you could bring your FAL down, and we could test fit it.
  13. Thats at the Bass Club across from the Winchester Park. I live right down the road as well in Franklin Hills.
  14. Update: Still waiting on a date from the NG range. As it stands, we are shooting for the 18th or 25th of August.
  15. I already have this waiting to on it when it arrives http://www.yhm.net/store/phantom762.html
  16. You cant go wrong with a FAL. I sold both of my "long" FALs and just got the call from DSA on Tuesday that my "mini SA58" is ready to ship Whats not to love about full auto .308 out of an 11" barrel Perhaps I can suggest the Magpul PRS for her rifle. We sell a bunch of these for ARs, and I was lucky enough to get one of the very first ones built for the FAL, and it is available for sale if someone is interested. (We are friends with the MP guys) http://www.magpul.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=70_88_114&products_id=251
