  1. Im well aware of the firearms timeline. I figured someone would over analize my post, but made more sense the way I posted, rather than "...welcome to the 19th and 20th centuries..."
  2. Wow. Welcome to the 21st century Rabbi. Next thing you know, you will be buying ARs, 1911s, and autoloader shotguns
  3. I was up in Cookville yesterday for some meetings and got an opportunity to stop into Tenn-Tac Tenn-Tac 921D S. Willow Ave. Cookeville, TN 38501 931-646-7182 www.tenntac.com Tenn-Tac is located in a new(er) small strip mall off of Willow Street. The location offers plenty of parking, and is easy to find. Upon entering the shop, I was greeted by the owner John O' Neil. John is a former Marine and LEO and seems to be a very honest guy and of high moral fiber. His shop is clean, new, and has very good lighting. I would estimate his total space to be about 1000sqft. It looks like he caters to the carry crowd, off duty LEO, and home defense market. Lines include Glock, Smith and Wesson, Surefire, Streamlight, LaserMax, Emerson Knives, and Sabre spray products. Glock- I saw one example of almost every model offered from Glock, with very fair pricing on all models. The standard models (17,19,23, etc) were priced at $510.00 John mentioned that he mostly sells Glocks. Smith and Wesson-Taurus I saw mostly J-Frames (642, 85) being offered and this sort of ties in with the market he is going for. Others- John doesnt carry a very large inventory of firearms, but he said he will special order anything a customer requests. He had a few (3-4) 1911s that seemed a tad high, a Springfield XD, and a few other misc. handguns. He also had a rack of 4-5 defensive shotguns. There was a single rack of 5.11 gear that featured Khaki short sleeve shirts and vests. Overall I was very impressed with the professional manner in which the shop is run, the clean and neat merchandizing, and Johns positive attitude. If you are in the local Cookville area, stop by and check him out. John seems like the kind of guy that will really work hard to earn your local business. Also, make sure you tell him Joe from Hero-Gear sent you! (I think he was a bit weirded out by another dealer being in his shop, and asking about his market)
  4. Welcome I was just in your fine city yesterday to speak at the Gov. Highway Safety Office meeting.
  5. Yeah, we did. Do you remember Sean Woods? He road a HD Road King He was an E6 (maybe E5) in 2/7 around that time.
  6. I was a squadleader with B 1/5 Cav 93-95
  7. Closing in on 19 years of total service. 11 years active duty, the rest has been NG/Reserve assignments. All of which has been Infantry assignments, leading men at the Teamleader, Squadleader, Platoon Sergeant, and First Sergeant level on multiple combat and real world missions. Operation Desert Storm (Kuwait/Iraq) Operations Provide Comfort (Northern Iraq) Operation Intrinsic Action (Kuwait/Jordan) Operation Joint Endeavor (Bosnia- Original IFOR mission) Operation Joint Guard (Bosnia- Follow on SFOR mission) UN Preventive Deployment Force in Macedonia (UNPREDEP) Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) Operation Iraqi Freedom (ummm....Iraq) Currently assigned to 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and hoping to make it another 18 months without deploying again so I can finally retire.
  8. Looks like you spent some time in 82nd Airplane Gang. Welcome.
  9. Sure. 500.00 for the gun, plus the transfer fee
  10. I think everyone should pay 150.00 or 42.5% of the MSRP of the transfered firearm, whichever is greater.
  11. We normally have several models in stock, and I would think that most shops would carry Harris since they really are the gold standard. If you cant find one locally, let me know.
  12. Someone needs to tow this to Off Topic.
  13. Wes, remind me next time you are in the shop and I will dial you in.
  14. +1 on not wanting to trade for a 1300. Have you lookd at the FN autoloader? Pure badass and 9 shot capacity.
  15. You missed the point; they werent SEALS, just like most "..used to be an Army/Marine sniper..." guys that come in were really truck drivers and clerks.
  16. I would imagine the only business where more BS is thrown out than a gun shop is a dive shop. When I was getting PADI OW certified a million years ago, I had 2 "former Navy SEALS" that barely passed.... Of course, their excuse was they were so used to closed curcuit rigs, and that they missed their Dragers...
  17. While my main HD/Tactical shotgun is a pump (FN Tactical Police Shotgun) I am liking autoloaders more and more. I understand the argument and logic of the "rack-rack" to scare the bad guys...but I think that Hollywood is partly to blame for this. If I am defending my life, property, or loved ones, I would prefer to reduce the threat via (if needed) lethal force, rather than let the bad guys know where I am at with the racking of the slide. (I suggest keeping your shotgun locked and loaded in the same manner/condition that you keep your primary HD handgun) I have a Franchi Law12, and im getting ready to pick up a M1 Super90 when the right deal comes along. Once the M1S90 comes in (in SBS configuration) it will become my primary HD shotty.
