  1. A machinist friend of mine used to have that in his signature line, and it always cracked me up. So here I am, doing all sorts of stupid and dangerous things in my life (teaching racing, flying helicopters, stepping into civil wars, etc.), and never really hurt to speak of. Including never a shooting accident. Then yesterday I'm changing out the base plate on a magazine and my finger slipped and the spring flew up and hit me in the eye. Mistakes: 1) Not wearing glasses while I did it. 2) Grabbing the fully loaded magazine instead of the empty one, which means the spring was as tight as a violin string. Egads. What a flippin' idiot. 3) Telling you about it.
  2. How many yards away are you typically help to down a crow?
  3. We actually do use it, at roughly $3,000-5,000/month, but always pay it off.
  4. I'm pissed and smiling, wonder how the hell we got to this place where employees have become mindless robots without any sense of customer service, culture, discretion, and understanding of loyalty. Today I got our credit card statement and noticed a $10 card replacement fee on there. A few weeks ago a restaurant that we'd eaten at was apparently breached and someone got our number and tried to charge something to it. The Visa people called me right away to make sure it was a legitimate charge, and I said no, so they canceled that card and issued us a new one. They never said anything about the $10 fee, though I'm sure it was buried in the agreement in 3-point type. So, here's my perspective on it. I don't give a dam@ about the $10, but I've been with this company for 28 years! The card has a $20,000 limit. We've ALWAYS paid it off in full every month. Never been late for anything. Plus...and here's the real hook...this was not my freakin' fault. I didn't lose the card or hand someone my number. A Visa vendor we patronized didn't treat it securely. So I called this bank: ...... So I call that number and it's disconnected. Truck every last one of them. I get a dozen credit card solicitations a week, and I'm moving on. But some policies need to be changed, or this guy needs to have his ass kicked to the street.
  5. Changed units and don't need them. These are the Ultra Allergen w/ 1250 Performance Rating. White, pleated, nice ones. You would have to pick them up (south Nashville).
  6. Why???? She's the one who wrecked your ammo!
  7. It does all but the "put an address in and take you there." It would take you back to a waypoint you stored, but not via roads. For that, look at Navigon's MobileNavigator. It has all the base maps and routing algorithms built in.
  8. MotionX News MotionX-GPS There's a free "lite" version and a $3 full-featured version. Very nice stuff.
  9. It's also been very reliable and quite fast.
  10. Long cross-country flights are $12.95. The 4-hour flight I'm on is $5.95. I'd expect it to drop steadily.
  11. Yeah, but the point is that there's no momentum behind any other player than the iPod, and the momentum behind the iPhone is far greater than any other phone. It doesn't matter that Beta was better than the alternative.
  12. Every recent commercial flight I've taken recently has had it. Greetings from 39,000 feet.
  13. Sort of like all those great iPod replacements? Yeah, those worked out well for all who tried them.
  14. Are you just taking them to the range, or are you shooting them?
  15. Have you tried your back pocket with a pocket holster? I find that more comfortable, especially with the Rohrbaugh or the LCP. Recently I've been experimenting with a LWS .32 that uses an interesting clip built right into the grip (it's aftermarket) for IWB. I can post a picture if you're interested.
  16. It almost looks like some kind of Kahr!
  17. Here's an interesting article, noting that health expenses are the leading cause of bankruptcy, even though most of those filing had insurance: I don't know how accurate it is, but it's pretty interesting. Source
  18. You all are giving me lots of homework.
  19. Sorry--that's a bad cut/paste job on my part. It's implied with the "veterans" item, but I meant to put it first.
  20. I finally had a chance to look at it, and I believe you are correct on the number part. Thanks for the correction. One thing I would ask, however, is that you not lump me in with the folks who want " an entire new Fed Gov controlled health care." I've repeatedly said I am NOT in favor of that. All I've said is that there is a problem, that I don't have the solution, and that some of the people without insurance are not deadbeats. I think that's a fair position and if we are to arrive at a solution, the rigid and polarized views on this need to be reexamined. My own belief is that government has a very limited role (yes, I've served in elected office). For years I've said that government should not incur any debt, and to whatever extent there are funds available, they should use them for these things, in order. In other words, until the first is adequate, they shouldn't go to the second: Water Fire Safety Court System Sewer Refuse Consumer Safety Healthcare Oversight Veterans Education Natural Resources/Preservation Professional Regulation Business Regulation Investment Attraction Social Services Tourism If I had my way, "Veterans" would probably be the last thing on the list. Notice that healthcare funding isn't any where, nor is provision for the expense.
  21. I was thinking about that this morning. Aside from how accurate or how many rounds or how the recoil is, what gun have you owned or held that felt light balanced, the right weight, a natural arm, perfect grip angle, trigger position, comfortable finger wrap, etc. Just curious.
  22. Absolutely. I do that (though I don't wear a hat).
  23. For some reason we seem to have a lot go by in our part of town. Maybe we're on a convenient route, since I've seen so many going east on OHB and north on Nolensville Pike. I don't have any problem with keeping the procession together, but I've seen them do unsafe things, including violating 55.-8-183.a.1, entering an intersection while the light is red.
