  1. Hoping you can help me identify the age and designation of mine. It is a Savage model 24 not Stevens. There is no serial number that I can see. There is a number 238 in an oval that is on the barrel assembly and on the side of the receiver (very faint) and the letters SB, also in an oval. The selector switch is on the receiver but missing the button.
  2. Rivergate Academy is $169. Fits great with flip up rear and will co-witness but it extends about 2 grooves forward of my flattop rail. It still clears the delta ring so I have no issue with that. I havent shot it yet but looks great and costs about $1000.00 less than the ACOG. Actually looked into the Barska with the same style but cant find it anywhere to touch, and feel it in my hands.
  3. With that said, and I understand your point about a land owner deciding not to allow guns on their property..... Now to dig a little deeper. What is your stance on "public owned companies" What if I'm a share holder in my company and I feel that in a sense, I am at least part owner of the property? Can I elect to carry and leave the weapon in the part I feel I own. Besides it is in the shareholders best interest if I'm able to return to work tomorrow.
  4. If you actually were my employee, cut my grass, clean my gutters, or some other labor that made you hundreds of thousands of dollars every year. You would be welcomed with six-shooters strapped on your hips. That is not the case here...I want to be able to throw a towel over it while I'm inside the plant. I work in manufacturing and have ZERO interaction with the public. I do however drive 30 miles from home and pass through some of the worst neighborhoods in all of Nashville. In fact the gate I enter is just a mile from the most crime infested area in Nashville. I have had co-workers approached by crackheads and thieves while sitting at a red light to turn into the plant. We have employees in and out around the clock. One employee, during his lunch break, was exiting a local Taco Bell in his car. While stopped at a red light was approached by a subject to give him some money. He told him he just spent his last dollar at the drive thru. The subject then reached in and said then "give me that burrito". Taking the sack of food from my co-workers lap. Now I'm not suggesting that someone taking food is justification for using a gun. I'm just demonstrating that at ANY TIME it may be required to save my life. He could have just as easily wanted the car and the wallet instead of the food.
  5. By enacting this law I feel like these business owners are saying "you have rights, just not on my property" Is their property NOT part of the USA? How can they pick and choose which constitutional rights are important? For example: What if the company decided they did not allow women who vote on their property? That is against their (womens) constitutional right to vote. It is against MY rights not to be able to have and bear arms. Will we hear a lot of hell raising from lawyers wanting that case? Perhaps I'm different than most. Just my 2 cents and that is more than it's worth.
  6. Arch, I worked at Nashville CW for 5 years. They are pretty straight forward and do their homework on this stuff. My question for them would be why do you let customers bring their guns into the shop? There were HUNDREDS of times I had to enter a customers coach and the little old men would always say something about their pistol being in there. I think as a whole there are far more incidents of a customer using a firearm than an employee. I think the constitution is being violated any time I can't protect myself. As long as I'm not violating another persons rights.

    Cleaning handguns

Just to clarify...and keep you from any danger. You can probably run it through the dishwasher but make sure it has been unloaded and slide locked back. But please don't use WD40 on it. WD40 has a penetrating property and it will RUIN your ammo by fouling your primers. This could lead to getting a round stuck in the barrel and perhaps cause you severe harm. I use BreakFree.
  8. I can solve your problem... Go with the springfield XDsc40. See my avtar. 1102 rounds with only 3 FTL with target rounds and haven't bought the Winchester white box since. It loves Federal rounds and I usually shoot 200 rounds per session and no troubles after the WWB.
  9. Not sure where to find it but was wondering if it is illegal for me to carry in Hendersonville city parks (yes they have opted out) what specifically says it's ok for a LEO to carry there? The reason I ask is that a few years ago there was a female officer that actually left her firearm in the bathroom stall during a busy Saturday morning during soccer season. There were hundreds of children in the park. I think one actually found it and turned it in to authorities. This act sparked changes that shifted responsibility of patroling the park from the police department to the parks department. Is this primarily why they are being banned. For fear someone will lose it there?
  10. :bat:Well, it seems that the unit is defective I removed it and tightened the rear face plate just a tad bit more and still have the problem. Although I haven't fired the gun, I can turn it on and it is OK for about 5 seconds then goes to about 50% intensity. Cuts it down to about armlength range. Needless to say I'm sending it back to be repaired or replaced. Perhaps I can weasle them in to exchanging it for the new rear sight version. However if the reliability is equalled in this product I just want my money back.
  11. I was wondering if anyone else has had trouble with LaserLyte V2 subcompact sight. I bought one at G&L and loved it for 2 range sessions (about 150 rounds). It began working at only 50% intensity for a shot or two then back to 100%. I would turn it off and use the gun sights and it would come on by itself. I exchanged it for a new unit and the same thing. This time I did not want to bother G&L with it so I called customer service and was told they have a problem with some units not having the rear face plate completely tightened. There are (2) .050 allen screws that could have been left just partially tightened. They suggested I completely hand tighten them and see how it works.I will try this and post here with the results.
