  1. My upper lip just got a little stiffer & I can feel the chest hairs trying to grow through my shirt. Gotta send this to some of my 'Metro' friends back inna UK. Let 'em know what they're doing wrong.

  2. Best sharpening system in the world.....KME Precision Knife and Broadhead Sharpeners

I sharpen literally hundreds of knives a year. I offer a sharpening service for all knives I have made & get a lot of requests for sharpening from friends, hunting buddys & frieds of friends. I've been sharpening freehand on japanese waterstones for 15 years & I can pretty much get anything shaving sharp this way, but since I got the KME system I can guarentee my angles are always consistent & I can do the job in ½ the time.

    Definately worth the money.

  3. And people ask me why we moved here....:screwy:

As complicated as it sounds on paper to own any kind of firearm in the UK, the reality is far, far tougher. Even Air rifles are strictly regulated. The legal limit for any air-weapon to be held without a firearms licence is 12ft/lb. That's about 2/3rds the power of anything Walmart sells. Any police officer has the right to confiscate ANY air rifle, to be tested (at their leisure) for power output. Even if th rifel is underthe legal limit, but the testing officer can modify it to shoot over the limit by any means the rifleis deemed to be illegal & you will be arrested for possession of a section 5 firearm.

The paranoia surrounding guns or shooting in the UK, even out in the country where I'm from, is astounding. I gave up telling people about my hunting trips to the US, Africa, Europe & Australia years ago, simply because I got sick of justifying & defnding myself to others.

Seriously, I cannot express how grateful I am for having the opportunity to move here & enjoy the freedoms you guys have. Please don't ever take them for granted!

  4. All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.

    Thomas Jefferson

In this case, unfortunately, it's not that we of good conscience remained silent, more that those of ill conscience did what they do best; Swindled, backstabbed, shouted, coerced, cajoled, lied, cheated & manipulated to get their own way, ignoring the logical & honest persuasion & intentions of the conscionable.

  5. Machete, without a second thought. For a one night stayover there's no need or use to chop any large timber. It's lighter than a hatchet, can be used for cutting brush for beddng/shelter unlike a hatchet, can be used for digging. A hatchet is heavy & not much use for anything but cutting heavier timber. The folding saw is OK, but agai no good for slashing smaller brush or grasses for bedding/shelter.

  6. Mike, I don't know you & have never met you. I've had a pretty good life. Some ups, some downs, but the one thing that has got me through all the bad is doing whatever it takes to get yourself through it. Whether it's God, religion, getting drunk, therapy, or just hauling off & knocking the crap out of whatever's getting to you.

If it's something you can discard or get away from, do it.

All you can do, is whatever it takes & only you knows what that might be.

Pontificating over the existence of a divine being & whatever he or she does or doesn't do isn't going to help.

  7. I'm gonna have to blame this directly on 'Boobquake'.

A bunch of fat chicks go flapping their boobs about with reckless abandon & no regard for the consequences & look what happens.

  8. Wow! No offence intended Krunch, but that My Tighe looks pretty much useless :puke:What's the deal with the spikey bits behind the sharp edge? Is the designer a huge Klingon geek???

    Looks like a good way to make a 1" blade 4" long.....:D

  9. Hmmmm tough one...

Under $500, probably my Boker Magnum Camp bowie

Over $500, a one off built to my own specs by ABS Journeyman Smith (& really good buddy) Karl Andersen

Foldy-wise, I couldn't choose! I have several that I'll never part with, all for different reasons, but all are equally good quality. (Check out the EDC thread)

  10. If you can still find one, the Boker Magnum Camp Bowie is one of the best knives under $300 I've ever bought......

Magnum Camp Bowie --- Heinnie Haynes - Knives, Pocket Tools and Accessories

I'm not sure they're still made, but a few months ago, they were all over EBay. Very, very sturdy blade, takes & holds a brilliant edge. I keep one in my truck all the time,

another on the boat, a third in the basement/storm shelter & one in my bug-out-bag.
