  1. We had a good shoot today. Only a few of us made it, but it was fun. DWarren let me fire his .40cal XD. Nice gun. WD-40 brought his daughter as did I. The girls spent more time eating ice cream than shooting though. My daughter and I enjoyed meeting the both of them. My daughter shot my Henry lever action and really like it. She is claiming it as her own now. Hopefully next time we can get a big group together. The state has spent some money at the Montgomery County Shooting Complex and the upgrades are very nice. I was impressed with all the new changes, especially the paved road.

    My murse!

OK, my wife had an idea for all you men with purseophobia. Just put a camera in it and call it a "camera bag".
  4. There is a gunsmith just south of Clarksville. He runs a small shop, sells guns and has a small range behind the shop. It is close to me so I use him a good bit. He's ex-army also. There is probably a decent market on the north side / woodlawn / ft. campbell areas. If I were looking for gunsmith work I would hit the local shops and see where they are sending their customers. You will do best with your own shop, no doubt. There is all the FFL requirements though, so "renting space" at a local shop may be easiest. Tennessee Gun Country would be a good place if you could get in there.

    My murse!

Cause your scared to carry your purse outside the bedroom? :D I have been using mine more and more lately. I keep all kinds of helpful crap in it. Bug spray, first aid kit, checkbook, sharpies, video camera, little debbie snacks, change of clothes, 2 piece chicken dinner, swiss army multi tool, 4 dollars in change, sunscreen, poncho, dog treats, lighter, 550 cord, water bottle... Not all at the same time mind you.
  12. I am sad to hear this. Not surprised but sad. My family owned Daddy Billy's for a few years back in the late late 80's and early 90's. It has gone through several owners since and none seem to get the mix just right. Atleast we had good food when we ran it. I really wouldn't want to eat at either place now. Good luck convincing them to change. (genuine, non-sarcastic tone)
  13. i will be there. No games on Sunday. BTW, Sango Walmart had 6-8 boxes of 9mm this morning at 9am. (noone there to sell it to me )
  14. I got in such a hurry to get it cleaned and in the cooler that we forgot to take pics. EDIT TO ADD: I do have a video of the hunt, I just have to get it converted and on the web. To stave off the hungry: Here is one from last year that was the same size
  15. Well I got one. I shot a boar that went just over 100 pounds. When we arrived Friday evening, we had just enough time to sit the stand for about an hour. A lone boar came in and I put a .44cal hole through his neck at 35 yards. He didn't even kick, just went DRT, or so I thought. When I walked up to him he started cutting his teeth at me. I guess the first shot had shocked the spine, but missed the arteries. I issued a coup de grace and got him skinned and in the cooler before 9pm. It was so dang hot down there that I didn't have much desire to hunt much more.
  16. Sorry I read wrong. Saturday is probably out for me unless it is raining hard and softball gets cancelled. I should be good on Sunday at 1pm. How does that work for everyone?
  17. I propose 10am when the range opens, before it gets too hot.
  18. wd-40 and I had were going to get our daughters together to shoot that weekend anyway. Here is my only rub: My daughter made All-stars for softball and we have a tourny on that Saturday now, so Sunday would be better for us. Shooting complex is open on Sundays.
  19. I have wanted one of these for a long time. I have the scout mount waiting. I also have a .44mag Marlin, but I want a shorter gun to put the scout scope on. I am hunting just outside Rosewood, on the road to Chiefland. Can't remember the hwy number. My buddy has some swamp land there, but it hasn't been swampy in a few years with the drought here. We hunted it for years with no accomodations other than a tent and a hand pump well. Now he has a house, electric, water and real life flushing toilets. LOL He even has a closed circuit camera on the feeder so we can do real time checks and find out when the hogs are moving. We are lazy weenies now. BUT, I promise it was paid for in many many gallons of our sweat over the past 7 years. I use off the shelf Hornady 300gr XTP JHPs. I have shot as far away as 25-30 yards, but usual shots are about 15 yards. I usually take center of the neck / base of the head shots. I ain't had to track one shot there yet. Fingers crossed that I never do.

    Ruger LCR

I would't mind taking you on an offer like that. My mom lives in Tullahoma, we'll have to get together and shoot sometime.
  21. Any hog hunters on here? I lived in Florida for a long time and still travel there for work and fun a few times a year. I am heading down tonight for a week long work trip, but I am going to go hog hunting friday, saturday and sunday. Hopefully it won't be too terribly hot. Yeah right! Here is my favorite Hog Gun. It is a Ruger Superblackhawk that started life as a 7.5" gun. I cut the barrel back to 5.5", did a lot of internal work, installed a Belt Mountain base pin and the Hunter model grips. Shooting 300gr XTP's. She has taken her share of pigs over the past 7 or so years and hopefully will take a couple more next weekend. Hopefully I will have some pics to update with in a few day. Let's see what guns ya'll are using for hogs.
  22. You are assuming that the manager is a cool headed, logical person capable of having an intelligent conversation. The difference in Florida is that there is no "posting signs". Business owners aren't allowed to post their restaurants off limits. The only way I would approach a manager or owner is if I had a relationship with them already and knew what to expect from them.
  23. +1 Closely followed my my first real gun. Stevens single shot .410. It was my dad's first gun when he turned 8. I got it when I was 8. My daughter got it when she was 8. It's in the safe waiting on my grandchildern. My daughter took a squirrel with it last year. She doesn't use it as much as her .22, but it's still a fun gun.
  24. I got Mr. T inside my TOMTOM! "Hey Fool! Don't give me no jibber jabber! Turn Left ahead"
  25. I am over Phil! That what I am over. I know what you mean Mike, but... Parks are one of the place I don't like to go now, only because I can't carry. I do enjoy going to parks, walking trails with my kid and dogs.
