I would love to carry my 1911 concealed but I haven't had any luck finding a holster. I bought a shoulder holster but it is a cheap POS and is awkward at best. I have a paddle holster but it ain't concealable. ANY recomendations that will allow me to carry my beloved 1911, "Thumper", concealed will be greatly appreciated. I would like to carry it outside the waste ban high on my strong side.

Remington model 870 pump or model 1100 auto. You can't go wrong. Browning Belgium's are outstanding if you can find one. If you are shooting clays then get one of them high dollar Italian over and unders.

I am reading a book called "Sea Of Thunder" about Adm. William "Bull" Halsey, Cdr. Ernest Evans, Adm. Takeo Kurita and Adm. Matome Ugaki. Great book! The US Navy today dominates every ocean in the world. They are the most powerful force ever created by man. God bless'em. Go Navy. (My Ass Rides In Navy Equipment)

The Japanese killed 250,000 Chinese as reprisal for the Doolittle Raid. Then of course there is the Rape of Nanking where Japanese officers made bets on who could lop off the most heads with their swords. The Japanese systematically raped and murdered tens of thousands of women and children. Over 140,000 died in Nanking. Of course don't ever forget the Bataan Death March. Or the hundreds of thousands of civilians in the Phillipines, Burma, China, Viet Nam, Korea and Manchuria that were slaughtered and raped. Or the Korean women who were enslaved and forced in to prostitution as "Comfort Girls" for the Jap army and navy. Or what about the way the Japs treated POWs? Using American POWs in experiments with chemical weapons or just starving them to death. The Japanese made the Nazis look like Boy Scouts. The Nazis killed 6 million jews, homosexuals, gypsies, mentally handicapped and so on. The Japanese were worse than that. If we had not dropped the bomb on Hirsoshima and Nagasaki and invaded Japan, they would have lost many times more civilians than they did. Plus many young American men would have died....by the tens of thousands. The bomb was the right thing to do at the time. I have no problem with guilt about nuking the Japs.

I think the prupose of this thread is to discuss the DB380. You don't need to own one to join in with us as far as I'm concerned. It's an open forum. You just don't have to rub it in that we bought a flawed handgun! That we could have bought an LCP for the same price! That we have spent $300+ on a pistol and hundreds in ammo for a pistol that is only reliable on the first shot! They will make it work! THEY WILL I TELL YA! They will...................................won't they?

Man I thought you dropped off the face of the earth. 115 miles left and you will be one of the very few. Take your time....you know what's waiting for you at the end.

The Diamondback is my "project gun" now. I am going to see what I can do to get it working. The mag release idea is interesting and thanks for the suggestion......i just checked. My finger doesn't touch the mag release. I have some different ammo I'm gonna try before I send it back. It's such a shame. This pistol shoots great. It did not jam shooting Cor-Bon Powerballs but those rounds cost around $1.50 cent a shot! I've shot P3ATs and LCPs and this gun shoots better by far. It's just that the P3ATs and LCPs didn't jam. I guess I could buy an LCP but I just don't like the .380 in general. I'll stick with my Chief's Special I recon.

You are talking about defending your family. I totally agree and it's what I am trying to drive home. Clearing your house is a dumb idea. Defending your family is the most important thing. When you say "The robber is not expecting a fight." That is an assumtion. The best we can do is be trained and be ready. Our prisons are turning out well trained asp holes. While we are hard at work our tax dollars are at work allowing criminals to train each other. It is shocking to me what these guys do all day in prison.

OK Jamie, I'll stop preaching to the choir. You seem to have a plan and have put some thought in to it. You sure will stand up for what you believe and I gotta respect that. I had a break in once when I lived in East Nashville. I grabbed my pistol and went straight for guy. I was scared as hell but I knew what I had to do and was gonna kill who ever it was. It was the drunk Viet Nam vet that lived down the street. He had already figured out he was in the wrong house and had stepped out the back door. His house looked just like mine. I was 22 years old. Since then I have done a lot of reading and a lot of training. I'm hard headed and won't back down when I know I'm right, unless it's my wife or my daughter, or my mom......or my boss, or a cop.

I use a Catco sharpening system. The best is a good Arkanas stone but I just don't have the nack. Lanski and Catco and some of the other work great and don't scratch up the blade.

Dang friend. I thought you were talking about my wife Ms. Carry.

I'm not saying to let a bad guy harm your children and wife, but you must be alive to protect them. That is the whole point that I'm trying to make. Instead of going charging through your house like a mad man, you must defend your family. You need to be bewteen the bad guy and your family and there make your stand. You need a plan on how to get your children and wife into a safe room, that way you only have to defend and not attack. You will have the advantage not the bad guy. You will call the police and stay on the phone with them, in your safe room, with your loved ones until the cops get there and clear your house. At least that is my plan. Maybe all the experts are wrong and you guys are right. Jamie, If you gave me 3 minutes in your house to find a defensive position I could drop you before you ran charging through the door. 9 times out of 10. What do you thing thugs do all day in prison. They train. The train in hand to hand combat, how to take a weapons away from some poor bastard trying to defend his family, how to shoot a man through sheet rock walls. How to break into a house. You may know your own home but you have no idea what kind of monster is in it. I may not be able to talk any sense in to you fellers but maybe I have planted a seed. After all we are on the same side.

I'm not advocating that either. But if you really think someone is in your house, I mean something more than just a bump in the night and you go charging through your house like you are in a John Wayne movie, why.... that's just asking to get shot. When I hear something in my house at night I get my gun and listen. Just like I'm sitting in a deer stand. If I still don't feel comfortable, I'll send my dog out. He's trained to search my house. Massad was not talking about coming home and finding your door broke down. He was talking about clearing your house alone. You need to watch that video again. Go to 3:20 on the video. I think his words were "Don't go looking for buglars in your house." If you don't believe Massad Ayoob, then there's no hope for you. 10mm4me, you be aggressive, you be hostile and you will be laying in a pine box. You need to be smart and not in such a big hurry to die. I see that you are young and I was just like you when I was young but you need to rethink your home defense philoshy. You need to set an ambush and let the bad guy walk into it, not the other way around. I ain't saying this to be mean I just think charging through your house like a raging bull is ........just jackassed stupid.....Tha's all.

Thinking Of Switching To A Revolver For EDC
Will Carry replied to krunchnik's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Mike, You were speaking your mind and sharing your opinion. You didn't get ugly and start name calling. You're all right with me. There ain't no right or wrong when it comes to our freedom to choose our weapons. I carry revolvers about as much as I carry semi-autos. Guns are my back up weapon when my brain has failed me. As long as I can get my front sight on target, I don't care what kind of pistol it is. -
I am allergic to cats but it is a funny story and I'm glad it wasn't a bad guy. I see out of 23 replies no one told you that you shouldn't clear your house. I'm not trying to be a dick, I just don't want people to read your post and think that clearing their house is smart. Clearing a house is a very dumb thing to do and you will get yourself killed and your wife will be at the mercy of the bad guy. This is not just my humble opinion. It is also the opinion of Massad Ayoob. Take no offense and take it for what it's worth.

Thinking Of Switching To A Revolver For EDC
Will Carry replied to krunchnik's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I would not even think to argue with Tom Givens about handguns or self defense. I envy you for being able to get training from Tom. The snubby is considered a good back up gun but many LEO carry them off duty too. I'm not sure why Tom would call a revolver ammuntition sensitive and unreliable but I'll agree with the rest. A concealed handgun is a compromise at best. I carry a snubby and don't feel underarmed. POSA Video Network at Officer.com -- Defensive Snub Revolver -
This is a good topic for me. I like the 45 acp and there have been a lot of good comments. Do any of you guys know anyone who has ever fired an AMC Backup 45acp?

Thinking Of Switching To A Revolver For EDC

Razorback, I was gonna say that most of the time I don't carry a speed loader or any extra ammo. I ain't very fast reloading and in a gun fight I'd be shaking to much to even try. I'll fire five and run like hell or pistol whip him. One of the things that convinced me to carry a snubby was the Crimson Trace laser grips. It makes a world of difference at the range and I feel that it gives me a little edge. My Smith and Wesson Chief's Special has a three in barrel and point shoots well. I like the old school grips too. -
An old prospector shuffled into town leading an old tired mule. The old man headed straight for the only saloon to clear his parched throat. He walked up and tied his old mule to the hitch rail. As he stood there, brushing some of the dust from his face and clothes, a young gunslinger stepped out of the saloon with a gun in one hand and a bottle of whiskey in the other. The young gunslinger looked at the old man and laughed, saying, "Hey old man, have you ever danced?" The old man looked up at the gunslinger and said, "No, I never did dance... never really wanted to." A crowd had gathered as the gunslinger grinned and said, "Well, you old fool, you're gonna dance now," and started shooting at the old man's feet. The old prospector --not wanting to get a toe blown off-- started hopping around like a flea on a hot skillet. Everybody was laughing, fit to be tied. When his last bullet had been fired, the young gunslinger, still laughing, holstered his gun and turned around to go back into the saloon. The old man turned to his pack mule, pulled out a double-barreled shotgun, and cocked both hammers. The loud clicks carried clearly through the desert air. The crowd stopped laughing immediately. The young gunslinger heard the sounds too, and he turned around very slowly. The silence was almost deafening. The crowd watched as the young gunman stared at the old timer and the large gaping holes of those twin barrels. The barrels of the shotgun never wavered in the old man's hands, as he quietly said, "Son, have you ever licked a mule's ass?" The gunslinger swallowed hard and s aid, "No sir..... but... I've always wanted to." There are a few lessons for us all here: Never be arrogant. Don't waste ammunition. Whiskey makes you think you're smarter than you are. Always, always make sure you know who has the power. Don't mess with old men, they didn't get old by being stupid.

Thinking Of Switching To A Revolver For EDC

I have two wheel guns that I carry. A Taurus M85UL with a CT grip and a Smith and Wesson model 36 with a 3 inch barrel. I don't feel under armed at all, OK maybe just a little, but it's unfounded fear. Both of these guns are fast on the draw and deadly accurate at 21 feet. There is nothing wrong with carrying a 5-shot revolver for self defence. The bad guys will not notice. Is that a pimped out Taurus M-85? Nice! -
I own a Glock 36. Put a Crimson Trace laser gaurd on it and bought a +1 extension for one of the magazine. The only thing painful about it is the orginal magazine is a pinky pincher. It doesn't hurt much but is the only painful thing about it. It has never failed to fire and is accurate. It is an amazing pistol and I carry it often. With the +1 mag. extension it looks a lot like the Glock 19 and it eliminates the pinky thing. I don't consider it to be that small or at least not small like the AMT backup.
