another vote for the Federal HST. Have also used Gold Dots with good results. Like others have said spend the money and get a few boxes of each and run them through and see which works out and routinely run a mag or two through the gun just to be sure.

you won't be disappointed with the TX-22. I picked up the comp version a while back with the threaded barrel and optics plate. With a suppressor on it makes for a super fun plinker.

Was in your shoes a year or so ago and ended up with the Bergara B14 and a vortex viper PST Gen II and haven't looked back. Although I have considered that MDT chassis that is in the classifieds......

Selling off some extras I have laying around. All prices include shipping but would make a deal for a local deal
Lead & Steel LP-1 - $285. Zeroed and used for less than a hundred rounds then sat in the safe. Don’t think I have the box. No significant scratches or dings and glass is cherry.

https://i.imgur.com/wFfbbTi.jpg16” Stainless Steel fluted barrel assembled upper with midnight bronze cerakoted SLR rail and rugged muzzle brake. Put 300-500 rounds through the barrel and maybe 50 on the build as a whole. Barrel came off my first rifle.[](https://www.cheaperthandirt.com/2-vets-arms-lrrp-semi-automatic-rifle-.2235.56-16-barrel-side-charging-30-rounds-free-float-rail-collapsible-stock-black-2va556lrrp/FC-851401004100.html) barrel has been accurate just don’t use this configuration at all. Cerakote is rubbing off high spots on the rail. Barrel is from a 2vets arms LRRP rifle

Completely agree with this too!!! I am embarrassed that I didn't think about Albert's shop. He is a great dude and a gun guy to boot!
If you haven't checked out their rally rats content on youtube you're missing out!

Give Mill Creek Overland a call in Nolensville, Albert and team over there will get you straightened out.

How well does he get around and what kind of hog hunting do you want to do? Some hog hunting involves a bit of walking over bad terrain. Some of it is relatively easy.
This is going to drive the recommendation for sure. I have been in SW texas and it has been as easy as driving the side by side to the blind and waiting at a feeder for them to show up. The only real heavy lifting is pulling them onto the bed of the side by side when needed.

Haley strategic flat pack is a simple backpack that has the ability to add a chest rig. Alternatively you could always put the female buckles onto a backpack strap that had webbing and attach the front panel of the chest rig pretty easily. Dirty Civilian just posted a youtube video about this a week or so ago.

I have a few of the TN Arms Co polymer lowers from a few years ago built up. I haven't had a single issue with them. If you are going lightweight I think the KP-15 setups are tough to beat. Also a very slippery slope where you start losing your oz/$ pretty quick.

for a couple hundred bucks you aren't going to get any sort of handheld NV that is worth it. I would actually look into an outdoor security cam with "Night Vision" that you could monitor on a phone. I have a Wyze outdoor cam and it does pretty good at night in the woods, only caveat would be is that the camera needs WiFi so that's a must have

What size Jackery do you have? I was looking at the 1000 when they were on sale in the fall, but didn't know anyone with first hand experience with them. I thought it might be a nice quiet option.
Ive got two of the Jackery Explorer 240s each with a 60w panel. Something in between the 240 and 1400 would be pretty nice to have

man sad I missed these.

have a few smaller jackery systems to run basic lights/charging/etc. while away from power. They have been good to use and fairly quick to charge with a couple solar panels. Also got a larger 1400W EcoFlow unit that can power a full size fridge/freezer in the event of a power outage. So far have been happy with both. The smaller units are probably shoe box size while the larger one is 2-3x the size and nearly 30lbs.

We are in the same boat and just got one perhaps a month ago. So far done all sorts of veggies in there but the fan favorite so far has been simple panko coated chicken fingers. Simple egg, flour, panko breading makes a great host for whatever sauce you're going to use. I have heard salmon is great in there so that is on my list to do

Not going to lie I would spend the $100 from the night sight budget (plus a little more) on a decent red dot. Shooting with irons at night is going to be tough, even tougher at 100-150 yards. In order to get positive ID out that far you're going to need a good white light so you're already in $150-ish minimum there (Streamlight HLX). I tend to lean toward if you can't see your sights how can you see your target? If it is just for quicker sight acquisition I think a dab of paint would get you the same result.

would love a 457 in 22 WMR. Have one in 22LR that I dropped into an MDT chassis and that thing is a blast to shoot.

I picked up some sorel caribou boots from sierra trading post a while back on sale and this past week they have been great out in the snow and cold. Wear a single pair of merino socks and have been good to go. I got mine for sale during the summer, right now is probably not a great time to find a deal on winter boots.
Always the option to get some surplus military mickey mouse boots. They run $60-$150 depending on the vendor and the size.

nice price on the total package.

I have found the best strategy is simply forget about them. When you get the call it's like a surprise christmas.

Needing advice with purchasing an EDC.

Of the two choices I would lean toward the shield, but agree with the sentiment here that a solid belt and holster will go far for concealment and comfort while carrying.
For belts I just recently switch to a Hunter Constantine belt and it has been super comfortable and the rigid section works well for securing your holster. Prior to that I have years of wearing a blue alpha EDC belt which was also great but a little more hula hoopish given it is rigid the entire length of the belt.
