  1. I found the Candidate Forum pretty helpful: http://smyrna.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?view_id=4&clip_id=1980 Steve Sullivan is good dude and a former Marine. I also liked what Morrell and Wesnofske had to say. One thing I did not like was Bob New saying we should look into banning fireworks because his granddaughter burned herself last year. So because a small % of people get injured we should all suffer? Sounds like the left's arguments against firearms. He gets a thumbs down.
  2. Chip Cain (he's a member here) did mine. Was a very smooth and easy process and all was handled via phone & email. He also provides a ton of very useful information to go along with it. All of his responses to my questions were prompt and very thorough.
  3.   I think paying for the stamp (which from my understanding is viewed the same way as a tax return - no one cares where the money comes from as long as it is paid) and paying for the actual NFA item are two distinct transactions.   Also, didn't I see above where you have a trust bank account? If the ATF doesn't care, then why do you have a separate bank account for your trust? Not trying to be a smart ass, just curious.
  4. My understanding was that 922r applied to all imported center fire rifles and once you SBR that pistol, it is no longer a pistol as you have made a rifle as the Form 1 is an "Application to Make and Register a Firearm".   But I could be wrong. And I would have probably swapped out the trigger to the Tapco G2 anyway and so the CNC Warrior piston is just a bonus to me.
  5. I would SBR it. I have an M92 that I bought for the sole purpose of SBRing. I went with the CNC Warrior M92 carbine. They weld on a fake can to make it legal, attach a folding stock (I went the M4 stock route because I'm in love with the B5 Bravo) and make it 922r compliant. As soon as it gets approved, I'll just cut the pin weld on the fake can and attach a muzzle device and it will be done.
  6. True. Which is why it makes sense to me to have a bank account for the trust. So you don't have to pay $400 in stamps for the same item. The item transfers straight into the trust the first time around.   Edit to expand on this: If you submit the original Form 1 or 4 as a trust, but pay from a personal account, if the ATF decides to scrutinize these more closely, the paper trail says the NFA item was purchased by "Dolomite_supafly" instead of "Dolomite_supafly Trust" when the transfer they approved was for Dolomite_supaly Trust. See where things get murky if not using a trust bank account?
  7. You shouldn't need to submit the Certification of Trust, since you are including the actual full trust document.
  8. You asked about paying for the tax stamp (or it seems that way from your wording). I'm more concerned with paying for the actual NFA item. Should they decide to go back and look at NFA transfers into trusts and they see payment made from an individual's personal credit/debit card instead of from an account in a trust's name, it seems the door is left open for them to come after that item. I just don't think I trust them enough to not do that at this point.
  9. Just curious which banks you guys are using (the ones with trust bank accounts). I just got my trust done by Chip and the bank I use for everything else doesn't seem to offer anything that isn't going to bleed my account dry with charges if I don't keep a decent balance or require more monthly transactions than I plan on making.   I'm just looking for a place to park a small amount and leave it until it is time to use it, then transfer more money in to cover whatever I'm purchasing.
  10. I emailed it to my wife this morning and this was her reply, "What is your deal? You have guns already. What more do you want, electrically charged doorknobs?" I guess the residents of la-la land don't like to be disturbed!
  11. Well I hope that gun she traded for was something from KAC or at least a SCAR!
  12. Ndamukong Suh - would get my vote for sure! That dude is a BEAST! He is clearly the best player in college football (which is what the Heisman is supposed to be for). However, Colt McCoy will probably win it.
  13. What about a white light with a strike bezel? I'm working on a Master's degree and my classes are all at night, so I carry a Surefire 6P defender. Not only can the light temporarily blind someone, but the strike bezel is pretty gnarly - I would not want it bashed and dragged across my head! Surefire 6P® Defender® - 6PD-BK available from SureFire I also carry a big folding Benchmade as well.
