When is the new Academy sports on Kingston Pike scheduled to open. I drove by and saw it looks almost complete and they have a sign posted for applications to work there. I don't get to knoxville very often but would like to see what they have and their prices.

congrats it took about 20 days to recieve my hcp. Wallywalk was a little tense, but kind of fun at the same time. I hardly even think about it now. Be safe and be careful.

Just got the gun i have been trying to find for months. The Bersa thunder 9mm UC. in Matte. Picked it up today at Austin's. They were very helpful and a pleasurento deal with also had an excellant price $355 out the door. That is less than on-line prices alone. without having the shipping,ffl and tbi check. so I saved a bundle by waiting. took it out and tested fired about 5 mags of cheap wolf ammo, ot one hiccup of any kind. I will have to do a lot more practicing, so i am confident in it's capabilities and mine. I will update later on my experiences. now i have to get a proper holster. I really like the Fobus i use with my thunder 380. So that is what i will most likely use. May get an IWB if i can't cc as well as with the 380 since the 9 is slightly larger.

Last week a neighbor of ours was shot in his own home when he returned from dropping kids off at school. He walked in on some BG'S robbing his home. Luckily he was not killed. He was hit in the right shoulder and did not hit anything other than soft tissue. He had noticed a PU truck parked near his gate but assumed it was a hunter. I live in a small community called Pine Orchard. just past Harriman. Houses are very spread out and the county cops seldom are seen patroling around. My wife has stated she will not unlocked the door for anyone now. And i am going to start training her how to shoot. may end up getting her a pistol of her own. Just goes to show no one is safe anywhere any more. She had been asking why i wanted to carry my pistol and always keep it loaded near my person even in the house. Now she understands.

Has anyone heard anything lately about this new concealed carry from bersa. Lastthat heard it is due out the 1st qrt of 2011. Hope some dealer has them on order. It is supposed to be the same size as the bersa 380. Think it would make a good cc for myself.

Yep did all those things. and heart racing. I know it will get easier tho. It is just sad that as a society we are taught that something as good as Bearing arms is a bad thing. It should be a natural act. If someone chooses to not carry that is fine, but don't panic when someone else carries

Why not just stock up on MRE's. They are some that are tastey. some not so good, but they keep forever and are easy to store.

Did my wally walk today. spent about 45 minutes there doing my shopping, perscriptions, and checking out . Was nervous the whole time. but had no problems. no one seemed to notice. i was carrying concealed. So next time i shouldn't be some nervous. Also went camping in the Obed wild and scenic river area. The Park Ranger came by the camp and talked for about 15 minutes. He was very nice and friendly. I was carrying open and he never mentioned it. I did ask later about loaded firearms in the camp because it was posted that way on the Bulletin board. He just said it was an old sign needed to be changed.

thanks everyone it good to be in the HCP family. As far as carrying to work, they do random searches there for stolen property and such, and i would hate to lose my job. Was out of work for a year and no insurance. Just now getting back close to even on my bills. (trying to save for a new toy also) As for the HCP badge, don't think i would go that route. I may opn carry some but mostly will go concealed. Glad that i can now carry even while archery hunting, and on WMA'S all year round.

an hcp holder may even have a badge displayed proudly telling evryone he is an HCP. (lord forbid) They may have a less stressed look on thier face unles it is a newby they may even have their weapon in full sight.

Myself and brother both recieved our permits in the mail today. Now i can schedule a wally walk on my next day off. Would start carrying tommorrow but my work policy is strictly No guns in vehicle or on the property. So will only be able to carry on days off. That really sucks.

Congrats on getting your permit so fast. I submitted the same day as you so mine may not be too far behind. It's always good to see another HCP permit holder on here.

Applied for my HCP on 23 sept. Still waiting for it to arrive. Maybe this will be the week. Altho it has only been 11 days seems like forever . I just hate waiting for things that i need.

i have to go in there tomorrow and will check the entrance to be sure that it's not posted/

does anyone know if y-12 credit union is posted? i heard someone say they think it is. but i do not remember seeing a sign. Guess i will have to start checking places closer when i am out. Haven't seen any post stores around harriman or kingston.

finished up my app. and fingerprinted. now all i can do is start waiting. Hopefully my will be as fast as some other here. shouldn't be any problems and since they are using electronic printing may be faster. DMV in rockwood were fairly nice and easy to deal with. Did have to go to health dept and get a new birth cert. could not located mine.but that was only 8 dollars more and took about 10 minutes. Thought mine was in my lock box but guess i will find it later.

I will get my application tomorrow. then i will start the wait before i get to do my wally walk. Glad to see the wait times are gettin shorter. hope mine will be not take too long. Will post when mine gets back

Class was great,Mr. Gene Sutton of Small Arms Training. was very good instructor . I passed both the written an firing test with 100%. had all but 1 shot inside the 9 ring. Now to the DMV and start the final leg of my trek for My HCP. Also Both my brothers passed today also.

thanks for the encouragement. I am excited to finally be gettin one step closer. I am fairly good with my handgun . did not have too many misses at 15 yds shooting a 12x12 pistol target.

My self and 2 of my brothers will be attending HCP class this coming saturday morning in Rockwood. and be firing at the Police range, Hope that we can all pass. I am excited about finally getting to go to class. We spent monday afternoon going thru a couple hundred rds each to ensure we can qualify. We all did fairly well , oldest bro did have some trouble at 15 yds, and we did not have a full size target, just the small round pistol targets.
