  1. Glad to see experienced people taking the time to show newbies around. I grew up in a house w/ no guns, and didn't understand why as a youth I always enjoyed hanging at my one friends house (he was a boyscout, father an avid sportsman), and some friends of the family (good German family, hunters, etc.). In fact, was JUST lamenting w/ my parents the fact that I didn't get exposed to any of this stuff as a kid (they were chiding me for taking my children to the range). Had it not been for those .22's we'd sneak in Jeff's basement, I'd probably have never been exposed to it, and may have different views or political opinions now as a result.

Pleased to say, my kids have ALL shot the .22 (rifle and pistol), and my oldest loves the 9mm, but he still doesn't like the 20-ga. If they grow up to be retarded liberals, at least they won't be ignorant one's!

    (Rant on)

This softening and feminizing of the America's youth as promulgated in our public schools and single-mom homes today in the name of 'safety' will have far-reaching affects on our society, and already has (the very concept of a 'micro-aggression' existing is proof positive we've got 20-years worth of pussies to get through). Teach, teach your children well....

    (Rant off)

  2. Absolutely Brilliant !!!

COSTELLO:  I want to talk about the unemployment rate in America  .

ABBOTT: Good Subject.  Terrible Times.  It’s 5.6%.

COSTELLO:  That many people are out of work?

    ABBOTT: No, that’s 23%.

    COSTELLO: You just said 5.6%.

    ABBOTT:  5.6% Unemployed.

COSTELLO:  Right 5.6% out of work.

    ABBOTT: No, that’s 23%.

COSTELLO: Okay, so it’s  23% unemployed.

    ABBOTT: No, that’s 5.6%.

COSTELLO:  WAIT A MINUTE. Is it 5.6% or 23%?

ABBOTT: 5.6% are unemployed.  23% are out of work.

COSTELLO: If you are out of work you are unemployed.

ABBOTT:  No, Obama said you can’t count the “Out of Work” as the unemployed.  You have to look for work to be unemployed.

COSTELLO: BUT THEY ARE OUT OF WORK!!!

ABBOTT: No, you miss his point.

    COSTELLO:  What point?

ABBOTT:  Someone who doesn’t look for work can’t be counted with those who look for work. It wouldn’t be fair.

    COSTELLO: To whom?

    ABBOTT: The unemployed.

COSTELLO: But ALL of them are out of work.

ABBOTT: No, the unemployed are actively looking for work. Those who are out of work gave up looking and if you give up, you are no longer in the ranks of the unemployed.

COSTELLO: So if you’re off the unemployment roles that would count as less unemployment?

ABBOTT: Unemployment would go down. Absolutely!

COSTELLO: The unemployment just goes down because you don’t look for work?

ABBOTT: Absolutely it goes  down. That’s how it gets to 5.6%. Otherwise it would be 23%.

COSTELLO: Wait, I got a question for you. That means there are two ways to bring down the unemployment number?

    ABBOTT: Two ways is correct.

COSTELLO: Unemployment can go down if someone gets a job?

    ABBOTT: Correct.

COSTELLO: And unemployment can also go down if you stop looking for a job?

    ABBOTT: Bingo.

COSTELLO: So there are two ways to bring unemployment down, and the easier of the two is to have people stop looking for work.

ABBOTT: Now you’re thinking like a Democrat.

COSTELLO:  I don’t even know what the hell I just said!

ABBOTT: Now you’re thinking like Hilary

  3. I was a Hunters Safety Instructor for about 10 years when I lived in Illinois. We had mostly kids go thru the course so they could get their first hunting license, also had plenty of adults that needed the course to get a out of state license where the course was required. The course was given at the Sportsmen's Club I belonged to.

After the class we would let the kids shoot at a few clays. I will never forget the smiles on their faces. Time well spent :pleased:

  4. Bob was sitting on the plane
waiting to fly to Chicago , when a guy
took the seat beside him. The guy
was an emotional wreck, pale, hands
    shaking in fear.

    "What's the
matter, afraid of flying?" Bob asked.

    "No, it's not that.
I've  been transferred to Chicago . The people
    are crazy there,
right? Lots of shootings, gangs, race riots, drugs, poor
    schools, and the
highest crime rate in the nation."

    Bob replied, "I've lived in
Chicago all my life. It's not as bad as
the media says. Find a nice home,
go to work, mind your own business, and
enroll your kids in a nice
private school. I've worked there for 14 years
    and never had the
    slightest trouble."

The guy relaxed and stopped shaking and said,
    "Oh, thank you. I've
been worried to death, but if you've lived and
    worked there all those years
and say it's OK, I'll take your word for it.
What do you do for a living?"

    "I'm a tail gunner on a
    Budweiser truck."

  5. While we here in TN are obligated by law to show ID when carrying should we be asked by a LEO,  some other states do not have this same law. In traditional open carry states you are not doing anything illegal so why submit to a violation of your rights just because officer friendly doesn't like you OCing??  If you don't defend your rights firmly when you know the LEO is in the wrong then you may as well lay down and let them do what ever they wish.  Sure, you might be arrested and cuffed...... then its all up the lawyers. One of our rights is to seek redress against violations of our rights. Anyone who successfully sues a municipality for violations and wins I applaud them.  Its the only thing authority understands. Make them pay a large monetary penalty for their overreach. Don't be sheep.

And here we go again, same old BS. We never see what leads up to the LEO asking to see his permit. We just see what happens after the LEO takes the bait. All he had to do is show his permit. No you don't have to be a sheep, but don't have to be a jackass, either.

  6. I'm surprised we don't have a CPA here that knows all this stuff.  But this is clearly why all the people in the know say the firs thing to do is hire a good tax attorney and accountant.

Yep, just a little bass boat....

  7. In a word, I got off an airplane Oct 1983 and after the roller coaster ride I had just gone through I swore I'd never get back on another one and haven't. If I can't drive there I ain't going.

I got you beat by almost 14 years, I haven't got on a plane since Dec 1969 when I got home from Vietnam.

  8. I'm 60 now, and have never liked heavy recoil, rifle or handgun, causes me to flinch after just a few rounds.  I avoid shotguns as well.  I shoot +P in my 357 when I do shoot it, and 223 is enough for me, maybe 243.  Getting older is not for sissies.  LOL

I've reached the point where I just shoot 223 now in long guns, but still like to shoot my 1911 45's. I just turned 69 last year and it seams like over night, getting old catches up with you.

  9. I have never given a Rats A$$ what the people in Tinsel Town think about when it comes to their political views. I figure they are actors and they are acting 99% of the time and just cater to who ever may be interviewing them at that time as to what their views are. I only saw about 5 names of that list that I recognized. I would like to see any them go up against an NRA official in a debate on the issue of the 2nd Amendment......................jmho

I would like to see them go up against a 12 year old in a debate on any issue. :dropjaw:
