  1. I do have a Dom. Violence arrest, 5 years ago, but the case was RETIRED

( yes I know a conviction blocks me, but case retired and I have paperwork to show it)

as it was a loud verbal argument not a physical battle and I was arrested to "separate" us so the PD  would not be liable if something horrible would have happened after they had left us alone.

( I personally know the officers who arrested me)

All this over some " loud verbal argument" 5 years ago. Good reason to never argue with a woman, you can't win. :wall:  :hiding:

Good luck with the gun buy and I hope it all works out for you.

  2. Coming from a manufacturing background... it's not uncommon, EVERYTHING is JIT (just in time) these days. Thank Dell for being so successful. From big to small companies, everything is cut to the bone in the name of profits. Especially if they're a small, hand-made manuf. company... they likely only have a day or two's worth of leather on the floor, also.

I work(ed) in the printing biz, and rather than get paper in-stock and on the floor, we waited for the delivery truck daily, juggling jobs and priorities, to the detriment of production efficiency, because we wouldn't get the paper for that job until.... AND this was our 'house sheet', not some exotic custom hand-crafted paper. Of course we'd use the paper eventually, but rather than tie up credit @ our supplier, we'll move things around until we get that paper on tomorrow's truck. To make matters worse, 'cold' paper fresh off the truck runs very different than one that's been on your floor acclimatizing for 24-hours (affects final quality of the product we had to ship, and impacted efficiency).True story. Baffled me daily.

It's one of the reasons some folks have taken to stocking up on food in their own homes for emergency preparedness (while I don't mean specifically those w/ buckets of freeze-dried staples in their closets, they've read the same information): most grocery stores have at best, 12-24 hours worth of supply on-site. I've lived through several blizzards where you're holed up for 2-3 days before you can exit your dwelling! It's just something I do every fall in preparation. For some folks, the concept of not being able to drive to Kroger's for a quart of milk is preposterous! Just-In-Time. It's the new way of doing things (until it fails spectacularly, but that's a conversation for a different forum here! :D )

Yep been there, done that. I worked for AT&T 30 years, warehouse. JIT looks good on the drawing boards, but when something goes wrong its instant FUBAR.

  3. Yea clerical issue of some type, but if not, wow!  I wonder if a ATF investigation will be created to investigate.  Would like to know the conclusion.

I would say somewhere along the line the wrong ser.# got put into the stolen data base. All it takes is one missed key stroke when entering the ser.# along the line and everything goes down hill after that. Just like the typo that caused the gun to be released. Sounds like a big SNAFU to me.   :2cents:

"The TBI told WREG it put a hold on the gun on December 29 when it showed up as stolen.

MPD was then supposed to go to the pawn shop and check it out to see if it matched the gun listed in their database.

According to the TBI, the dealer resubmitted the information the next day, and included a typo which caused the gun to be released to Taylor.

The TBI also said they didn't know the gun was released until Wednesday when they were alerted by MPD.

As for the online company that initially sold the gun, Buds Gun Shop, they said they have no idea how it could be stolen.

The pawn shop also believed there must have been some kind of clerical mix up with TBI."

  4. I'm sure they are all good boys and trying to turn their life around. If they only had a job, they wouldn't have to steal. I agree with runco, I'm sure they have a FFL and will do a background check before they sell any of these guns.   :ugh:

  5. Wow. Such horrible language for an "old fart". Calling a woman a slut is not only ignorant but crude and disgusting. Especially since you know none of them. Luckily for her, she'll comfort herself with her millions while you merely sit and talk a whole lotta garbage about her and sing the praises of "big momma". For sure not language a gentleman or a decent man should or would use.

Disgusting. Congrats on winning the most pig headed thread comment of the year.

We're only 5 days into the year, I'm sure someone will top this. :stir:  :hiding:

  6. Will I Live to see 80?

    Here's something to think about.

I recently picked a new primary care doctor. After two visits and exhaustive Lab tests, He said I was doing fairly well for my age.

A little concerned about that comment, I couldn't resist asking him, 'Do you think I'll live to be 80?'

He asked, 'Do you smoke tobacco, or drink beer, wine or hard liquor?' 'Oh no,' I replied. 'I'm not doing drugs, either!'

Then He asked, 'Do you eat rib-eye steaks and barbecued ribs?' 'I said, 'Not much... My former doctor said that all red meat is very unhealthy!'

'Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf, boating, sailing, hiking, or bicycling?' 'No, I don't,' I said.

He asked, 'Do you gamble, drive motor-cycles, drive fast cars, or have a lot of sex?' 'No,' I said...

He looked at me and said,.. 'Then, why do you even give a shit?'

  7. Jade Helm, many great memorable quotes in that one, albeit the guy wasn't all that hard to bait.  The Shepard Master thread was probably the ultimate in the "crazy as a ****house rat" category, but not much fun to it.  Gay threads are always "lively and gay" as well ...

Agree, Jade Helm or The Shepard Master as 1 & 2 with the Cop disarming the guy on the bike number 3. :hat:

  8. I'm afraid I may be going in a different direction this year. I hate to do it, but may be it's time to thin out some of the dust collectors in the safe. I have a few guns that I bought or traded for over the years that "seemed like a good idea at the time" but now sit in the back of the safe un-used. I have been thinking about this over the past few months and I guess now is as good of times as any. So keep an eye on the classifieds here on TGO.

A couple of the items that may go. Springfield M1A loaded, RIA 1911 Match, Saiga/Arsenal SGL-41 .410 Shotgun, and a couple others.
