  1. Cruz's wife is a Goldman Sachs VP and was on the CFR and has ties to the very people who've put this country where it is. Carson has made pro gun control comments in the past and can't be trusted to defend the 2nd Amendment.
  2. I just read that Cruz's wife is on the Council of Foriegn Relations and works for Goldman Sachs. I haven't had time to research this. If this is true, she's in tight with the banksters and one worlders that have brought this country to where it is, and so is Cruz. Don't believe what he says when he claims conservative views. I doubt he's any better than Lamar or Corker. Not worth my time.
  3. If I remember correctly, about 35 years ago, ALL handgun sales had to go thru the sheriff (but this wasn't enforced. I have a book from the '30s that says handgun sales in TN at that time were illegal all together). The sheriff had 14 days to approve or disapprove (only with cause). Some would sign it right away. Some, like Sheriff Mike Kirk in Franklin County, would make you wait almost the full time (been there). If it wasn't disapproved in that time it was automatically approved after the 14 days. The sheriff could, and sometimes did, keep a record of the sale with the serial number of the gun. Thankfully those days are gone.
  4. I'll support closing the "loop hole" if it also requires a background check, photo ID, proof of citizenship with a birth certificate or naturalization papers, and a $10 fee to vote.
  5. Not trying to start a fuss, just curious, but what is the advantage of buying from you as opposed to buying direct from Dillon?
  6. I was certified an NRA rifle, pistol, shotgun safety instructor in the past but havent't kept up with the payments to stay current. I still have my certificate and card tho. Can I get my carry permit with this or do I still have to take the state course?
  7. I do live in Davis' district and have been fairly happy with him, 'til now. He seems to have his nose firmly planted in Pelosi's rear and that impacts my rights and wallet. I'd vote for Pee Wee Herman before I'd vote for Davis again. I'm not backing the other guy but once agian it looks like I'll have to hold my nose and vote against the incumbant, not for the challenger. I'm getting tired of this and wish decent candidates could be found, not the refuse both parties keep dragging up.
  8. This is the latest from the original blog (Naming names: 2nd update on the gun confiscation incident in TN « Restore The Constitution) ... the seized weapons have finally been returned, about 5 months after they were taken. Plus, the victim had to pay every single cost in getting them back, attorney fees, court costs, and even shipping. Now all charges have been dropped, so the bad guys are basically acknowledging that they had no real legal reason to take the weapons in the first place. But still they make the victim jump through all these hoops and pay about $1000 total just to get the guns back. And, of course, the officer who took the guns without reason, is still on the force patrolling the highways, writing tickets, doing his thing. The guns taken are just about equal in value to the costs the victim had to pay in getting them back, so the calculation in the minds of all involved in the confiscation is that most people will not go through all the hassle to get their guns back and that the TN highway patrol can, in most instances, just take guns and property with no recourse.
  9. THP stops out of state couple and siezes their firearms. These guys obviously don't know or don't care what the law is in Tennessee. Naming names: 2nd update on the gun confiscation incident in TN « Restore The Constitution
  10. Haslem's a loser. I'm going to write in Fred Thompson.
  11. I have a Masonic Handbook that was published in 1855 that belonged to my great-great grandfather. It has his name and lodge number (NY) and the date (1856) written in the front. It covers the Blue Lodge degrees and York Rite (Knight Templar) degrees.

  13. In an old High School animal husbandry text book (1961) it states that copper sulfate at 1 part in 500,000 parts water will destroy most forms of algae and the water will still be fit for animal consuption. The copper sulfate is put in a cloth bag and stirred thru the water untill disolved. It can be lethal to any fish in the pond tho. You're on your own finding copper sulfate. I don't know if the CO-OP sells it or not.

  15. I was born in Floyd Co. Ky. My great grandfather was a miner. My grandfather was a miner who had to quit school after the 8th grade to go to work in the mines to help support the family. My father was a UMW of A member in his younger days. I've got cousins who still work in the mines. As late as 1970 Miners in Harlan Co. still lived in company housing without indoor toilets. The Northern banksters and businessmen with John C. C. Mayo as there representative came in and conned the land owners into selling their mineral rights for almost nothing. It was either work in the mines or starve. John L. Lewis and the UMW of A helped raise the standard of living far higher than the mine owners ever would have done on their own. Nobody on this board would put up with living in the conditions that the pre-union miners lived in. Read up on the mine gun thugs murdering people (Matewan, Logan Co., & Mingo Co. WV). The union brought in better wages and working conditions as well as better housing and health care. The union is why you have the work benefits you do in even non-union jobs. The machinist union at AEDC has set the bar for wages and benefits for all other machine shops in the area (one shop foreman where I worked actually said that very thing). Other shops have to stay competative to attract labor. No, I'm not a union member. Where I work has no need for a union and I'd vote against one if it tried to come in, but I do benefit indirectly from unions. The days when a union was necessary have pretty much passed but don't ever think they didn't serve a purpose in the not to distant past. The SEIU though is a band of thugs and they were out of line coming to that persons home, just as right-to-lifers are wrong to picket abortionist's homes. The banks may try to take advantage but it's a person's own fault if they let them. We all are responsible for our own actions. That's the main problem, in my humble opinion, with the Democratic Party. They tell everyone that their lot in life is the fault of someone or something else and a vote for the DNC is a chance to get back at the "them" that's put them where they are. The Republicans with their arrogant disregard for the opinions of the "common" folk are barely better. I've voted mostly for Republicans because I felt that I had a better chance of keeping my own money with them in charge. Dubya knocked that in the head. Hopefully the American people will wake up and vote all the b*$+*rd$ out.
  16. An friend of mine had a pistol stolen in 1980. The local thief was suspected but the Sheriff didn't pursue as he was also a drug snitch. Ten years later he gets a call from a northern police department asking if he had had a pistol stolen with this serial number. He said yes that was his pistol. The officer then wanted to know of any "identifying marks" to confirm it was his. He was dumbfounded by this and then remarked that yes, there was one, the serial number. He never got the pistol back. We figured a cop had bought it and ran the number and found out it was hot, made the call to confirm, and removed it from the list as recovered and kept it.
  17. What about motorcyclists? The first place I heard had these was Australia. Motorrad deaths went up and there has been a call to remove them.
  18. A friend of mine works for Lockheed in Texas and told me several years ago that they had done just that and fired several people, including one of his friends.
  19. Does anyone still sell 1-in-12 twist 20" barrels for the AR-15? I'd like to build another but prefer to shoot 55 grain bullets and don't like to over stabilize them with the current selections. Thanks in advance.
  20. That's just not true. My first had no bearing on me getting my second. The third will NOT be because of the first two, and the fourth I've drawn up ... well, I can quit anytime I want. Really!
  21. AP ammo is often more accurate than Ball ammo. That's why target shooters used it to practice with in the past. It weighed 165 grains which was close to the 172 grain weight of match ammo so the trajectory was similar. Many thousands of rounds were put down range at AEDC. The DCM supplied it to the rifle club there. AP was designed to penetrate 1/4" of armor plate and will shoot thru 5/8" mild steel at 100 yards so you have to be careful with your backstop.
  22. Is .30-06 AP ammo legal in Tennessee now? I shot a lot of it at the AEDC range years ago and also mail ordered Talon remanufactured AP to shoot out there when it was on the market. The CMP will have surplus AP for sale soon but won't ship to Tennessee. Looking at the pdf site below it looks like it is illegal now. When did the law change? http://gunshowonthenet.com/State_Gun_Laws/Tennessee.pdf
  23. The only reason to compromise is to give the opposition something they aren't strong enough to take on their own. The leaders of the NRA are masters of this (giving in to the opposition at gun owners expense). I was a member for almost 30 years but realized they weren't my friend but just someone who wanted my money so they could keep their jobs, just like politicians.
