  1. My favorite parts...

    "What PCD's are not for
    home Protection
    law enforcement situations
    self defense"

" PCD was founded in 2014 by a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served multiple combat tours to Iraq, and other places throughout the world."

    ...REALLY?!?

Why not just go to Walmart & buy an airsoft? This has to be an early April Fools joke!

  2. I like it. If you look at the photos in the link you'll see that the slide ridges aren't super aggressive so holster removal shouldn't be a problem. (The ridges are cut into the slide instead of sticking way out) The grip looks like it would be very comfortable. From the side, the APX's shape reminds me of a Ruger SR9 especially in the grip area. I can't wait to see how it actually functions & what the set MSRP will be.

  3. they probably have, but lived thru it so all the news sez is "man shoots self in abdomen" yadda....  they get head, torso, and extremities, more detail is left to your imagination usually.

Never enough details.  Was the trigger pulled?

Ahem.... sucks to be these guys.

  4. The news is giving a forecasted actual temp. (not wind chill) of -10 tonight & -15 tomorrow night! I've seen it in the negatives a few time, but never that cold. Brrr....

I just snapped this photo of my street a few minutes ago & the snow's coming down heavily again right now.

  5. I've ordered some camping gear from here. They have a lot of cool items & sell real 550 paracord (a lot of what you find is cheap made & poor quality) & even have videos showing how to make knife grips, etc. from 550 paracord. http://countycomm.com/cord.html

You can also order it from Smoky Mountain Knife Works... http://www.smkw.com/webapp/eCommerce/main_front.jsp

When I was a teenager in Boy Scouts I once wrapped a knife blank with paracord & then dipped the whole handle in 2-part epoxy just to try it out. 20 years later the knife is still getting used. Now I'm a volunteer leader with my local Boy Scout Troop & we buy this stuff in bulk & use it for everything.

My wife has worked at Walmart for over 15 years & can tell you that people really act this way when the words "storm" or "snow" are mentioned on the news. The bottled water, milk, bread, & peanut butter isles get emptied every time.

  7. I went a different route a couple years ago since my other preferred pistol is stainless & won't stick to a magnet. I simply took two screws & two fender washers & bolted one of my pancake holsters to the backside of our bookshelf next to the front door where I can access it instantly. I put the screws through the belt slots. The holster isn't damaged I have the option of using the thumb strap or not & no one can see it. You could do the same thing under a table.

  8. I collect Star Wars. I have a box of Star Wars comics from the late '70s & early '80s along with figures & read along books with records. The strangest are probably my lightsabers. I have some of the small scale Master Replica lightsabers, but I've also built some full size replicas from scratch using 70 year old camera flashes & parts they used in the original movies. (Yeah, I'm a nerd) I also like to collect metal fighter jet models, my favorite being the F14 Tomcats. Oh, yeah, I also collect guns. That's the one that bugs my wife the most. It would bug her even more if she actually knew how many I really have.

  9. Some laser discs are going way up in value as collectables, but those prices are completely ridiculous! I would expect those to be in the $200-$300 range because of the expense of having them framed. The discs are probably worth about half that to a collector.

  10. Long guns (rifles, shotguns, etc...) can be shipped person to person within TN. You may ship a handgun yourself through FedEx or UPS, but handguns must be shipped to an FFL ONLY, not to a residence, whether within the same state or not. They're a lot more strict with handguns than long guns.

Also make sure that the shipping company knows it's a firearm & requires the buyer to sign for it. I ordered a handgun from a guy in Colorado a couple years ago & he decided to save a few dollars on shipping & sent it by regular ground FedEx instead of overnight like he should have. The FFL I used works a regular job out of town some days & was gone when the handgun arrived. Since the seller cut corners & sent it by regular ground, FedEx delivered it to the wrong house down the street from my FFL & actually left it leaning against the front door so my handgun sat on someone's front porch facing a busy street for nearly 10 hours before my FFL got back in town. By chance my FFL spotted the FedEx box on the guys front porch on his way home & picked it up. If they had required a signature & ID that wouldn't have happened. I was lucky it wasn't stolen.

  11. Accepting food stuff as returns is a HUGE liabity. No clue if it was stored properly or if something else happened to it. People seem to forget about the rash of poisonings a in the 80's.

I agree. Walmart loses million of dollars on stupid returns like this. I also agree that it's not always safe.

if a store takes back product it does not go back on the shelf.

I am sort of surprised Wallies takes back food items, just sort of though.  Their vendors suffer the loss most likely .

I kept telling customers tonight that we were getting six to eight inches starting around 2 am.  We aren't getting squat.

I can't understand why people aren't prepared for a couple of days at home.    If we don't have bread and milk there is no one starving.

Some items get restocked & some don't. It all depends on what item it is & it's condition. I've actually seen them restock meat & dairy items before that should have been trashed by claims. They're more strict than they used to be, but some of the stuff people return would shock you. My wife had a customer & his girlfriend actually attempt to return used panties (with fresh stains) & a half a box of opened condoms. She's had to use rubber gloves many times while working for WM. The police had to retrieve some shoplifted undergarments with used condoms wrapped up in them at the service desk this past year & wife was the one stuck helping sort the items for the police report. Keep that in mind next time you complain about a WM employee not having a smile on their face. You never know what they've had to deal with from the customers in front of you.

  12. True. But apparently the guy has MULTIPLE felonies. I realize that I'm assuming, but it doesn't sound like he filed his 1040 improperly.

Edit: after rereading the OP, he gave no indication that they were violent crimes. So mea culpa. Maybe he is just a tax violator.

I wasn't going to discuss it, but he's been arrested multiple times over the years for sexual assault & sexual battery & attempted rape. Like I said, my MIL isn't known for making good decisions. She sure knows how to pick 'em. This is why we almost never visit their house.

  13. They're actually all over the place, just rebranded. I get mine from East Penn (Deka) in Madison, TN, but I'm not sure if they sell to walk in's. I would think they would though.

Edit* Here is where you can get them. Just put in your zip and it will pull up the closest dealer to you. Another reason that I like Deka is that they are completely made in the USA, from the plastic, to the lead and acid. Plus they can recycle 99% of the scrap battery. It's a impressive facility they have in Pennsylvania.

Holy crap! I just did a dealer search & the nearest one is 100 miles from me. :stunned:

  14. This may or may not be a stupid question, but I've done some browsing & haven't found a defined answer. My mother-in-law is living with her ex husband who's has multiple felonies & he is not allowed to own firearms (she's never been known for making good decisions about anything in her life...ever!). Is it legal for me to carry on their property or in their home? My wife & I both tend to keep our distance from them so we only visit her house a couple times a year, but don't want to break any laws when we are there. Thanks.

  15. I work on batteries for a living (big ol forklift batteries). I'd just have an auto parts store do a load test for you. Volts won't tell you as much as amps will. As far as adding water and acid, adding water is fine. Adding acid is putting a weak bandaid on it. The only time you should add acid is if any has spilled out. If the battery isn't leaking, then the acid is still in there, the water evaporates, the acid doesn't. Now the acid may be trapped inside the plates, which means the battery is sulfated and on its way out.
As far as new batteries go, is get a Deka, but I am a bit biased. Still great batteries though.

I didn't know they still made them. (Nobody sells them locally anymore) The longest lasting battery I've ever owned was a white Deka 1000, rated at 1,000 CA & 800 CCA. I used it in a '85 Ford Ranger V6 for 9 years & it was still in the truck & working 100% when I sold it. I'll have to look into finding another one for my van.

  16. I usually get 5-7 years on the Walmart & Autozone 5 year batteries. Most people don't know that Autozone has a discount battery program. (I only knew about it because I used to work for AZ years ago) If they have any batteries on the shelf that are past the suggested sell-by date, you can get them for a fraction of the normal price. A couple months ago I got a $150 Autozone 5 year battery for $50 simply because it sat on the shelf for a couple months past it's suggested sell-by date. It tested at 100% & still comes with a 5 year warranty. It's worth checking on.

  17. This happened to my wife & I a few years ago while we were in a movie theater. A guy parked his dually right against my truck mirror & there was no way of me getting my truck out. The theater manager made several announcements & the owner never came out to the lobby so they had him towed. I found out later that the truck belonged to an off duty police officer that had left his truck in their parking lot while he went out drinking with his friends. The theater manager said he showed up at around midnight to get his truck & was completely drunk. I wish I could have seen the look on his face. LOL!
