  1. Very nice!
  2. I'm going to try to head to the range tomorrow. I'll make sure to post an update when I get home.
  3. I couldn't resist. It just kept calling my name. I have to learn to stop going to the gun shop. Something always follows me home. Anyhow, I'm now the owner of a Springfield GI 1911. Can't wait to hit the range this weekend! As I understand it, this modem is pretty minimal feature-wise as far as 1911s go, but it was at least somewhat affordable.
  4. Mine was issued on 3/31 and received 4/9. Mail usually takes a day or two longer to make it up to me since I'm in a bit of a rural area. Id say next Wednesday or so you'll be getting it out of the mailbox. At least let's hope it is that quick!
  5. South Clinton Pawn Shop has a sign up saying "380 AMMO IN STOCK". It was way after business hours, but I noticed the sign as I was driving by.
  6. I e-mailed Lisa Knight about 25 days after applying just to make sure all of my stuff made it there. In my case, it didn't. I don't know if they would have just continued to wait until they received it (if they did) or...? I just happened to inquire and was told my certificate was missing and to send it over.
  7. I'm already not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow. Not posted, but it is against company policy to have any weapons on the property. Gotta love being disarmed 4 days out of the week. Heck, I can't even browse this forum from work. It is blocked due to subject matter: "weapons"
  8. Welcome!
  9. Not necessarily. They were waiting on my HCP safety class certificate. The local driver's license office didn't send it. I had to e-mail it to Lisa. That may have delayed things a few days. Keep stalking that mailbox. I took the Wally World Walk today. Even bought the last box of .45 in stock. I don't think I was in there for the entire required 45 minutes, but I wandered around electronics as long as I could. For bonus points I also grabbed some food at McDonalds and stopped by the gas station for a 12pk of Dr. Pepper (that I forgot at Walmart).
  10. Same thing happened to me. I had to e-mail my certificate to Lisa.
  11. The wait was short, printed on 3/4, received HCP today (4/9). It seemed like forever though. I haven't made it to Wal-Mart yet, but I have printed the Wally World Tactical Map and am hoping to go tomorrow. I did carry elsewhere today though. My son and I had an appointment at the optometrist for our annual checkups and new glasses. After stealthily exiting the truck, covertly adjusting the holster, and checking in windows, doors, and under rocks for a properly posted sign, I carried on in. My XD45C in a High Noon Split Decision prints like a cell phone clipped to my belt under a t-shirt. Made it through my eye exam (and my son's exam), picked out some new eyewear, and headed back to the house. Quite uneventful, but definitely a strange feeling. I also stamped and mailed my ex-wife's application for her HCP course today. She's take the class on 4/25. After she saw me go through the process she just had to join in.
  12. HCP in the mail today! Applied 3/2, printed 3/4, in the mailbox on 4/9. Not bad at all.
  13. Good to see another software guy joining in. Welcome!
  14. I bought a kholster (right before they went on sale, argh..) for my XD. Fantastic holster and Jimmy is a great guy to deal with. I was impressed with the comfort and fit at first, but I was *really* impressed once I combined the kholster with a sturdy belt. The 5.11 tactical belt + kholster = really comfortable and concealable.
  15. Nice! Congrats! Time to go check out the empty ammo shelves at Wally World!
  16. applied on 3/2, fingerprinted on 3/4, e-mailed Lisa today (3/25) to confirm all paperwork received. She replied and let me know that the only thing was they didn't receive my safety class certificate. I just have to e-mail it over and she said she would go ahead and issue. Guess that means I'll have another 2 weeks or so for printing and mailing, but not too bad.. Only been 3 weeks today since fingerprinting.
  17. Done via Paypal. Thanks for putting this together!
  18. I may pick up a scope for it eventually, but I do enjoy plinking with iron sights. If I ever wanted to shoot anything other than paper I would definitely scope it. I don't do any hunting, although the thought of doing some small game hunting does interest me. I've just never done it before. Next time an appropriate hunting season rolls around I may see if I can get a fellow TGO'er to show me the ropes.
  19. Having been struck by the "IneedMoreGuns" fever, I added a new one to the collection today. Picked up a Marlin 925 from Austin's this afternoon. Maybe I can afford to shoot this one regularly. I think I shot more $$ in .45ACP and 7.62x39 last weekend than I paid for this little Marlin. Looking forward to taking it to the range for some economical plinking.
  20. My AMD-65 has had about 200 rounds of Wolf JHP through it. Goes bang every time.
  21. Count me in.
  22. I bought my XD45 at Austin's a couple of weeks ago. Took my HCP class there as well. Highly recommended!
  23. Slightly OT, but regarding the blade.. I suggest taking a look at the Spyderco Tenacious if you're looking for a decent budget blade. I just picked one up (~$30) and I love it so far. It has become my EDC blade until I find something I like more (and can afford). My EDC setup is: Wallet Keys Samsung Moment Spyderco Tenacious (Coming Soon: Pending HCP arrival) - Springfield XDC 45 in Kholster or Ruger LCP in pocket. No watch because I always have my phone on me. I am kind of reevaluating that. In the event of SHTF the cell phone will die long before a watch battery. Might be worthwhile to keep a separate timepiece on me.
  24. You need to add a "Furminator" to your readiness plan if you don't already have one. It is by far *the* best brush for eliminating excess fur on our four-legged friends. Furminator + quality food makes a huge difference. The amount of hair that comes off in one session of brushing with the Furminator is almost scary.
  25. Good afternoon! I don't know what distance KCSO uses for the 12 "instructor's discretion" rounds, but it should break down something like what is shown in this post. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/19927-post41.html
