  1. I am currently away from and have been on commercial flights. This is the first time I have flown with my my firearm. I am using a Gun Locker but actually employed the cable. My bag has an extendable handle and by unzipping the liner I can run the cable around the tube for the extendable handle. This way the gun is locked up and not easily removed from the bag. Although it was my understanding that the desk agent would ask to see the weapon and verify it is unloaded I have yet to be asked to do this. I also have my 1911 in the Locker with the slide open. I wait as TSA runs the bag through and verify that they do not need to inspect the weapon. Again, they have never asked to see it. I think having the slide open has helped with this. Jeff
  2. We have to come from Sevierville and have found Christy's on Rutledge Pike (east side) to have really good prices with regular sales and a great selection. Jeff
  3. That is EXCELLENT! Jeff
  4. I have my HCP not because I have thought I needed it at some point but because I hope I don't need it at some point. Jeff
  5. I'm really curious what the "eyewitness" account is. That may be closest to the "truth" about what happened after both cars stopped. Whatever happened before this has little legal implications. It's what happened at this point that has any real legal implications re; who did what, when. Jeff
  6. Always good to hear about positive experiences with LE. And as a motorcycle rider, I wish you greater luck in reducing the deer population! Jeff
  7. You & my wife think alike! Jeff
  8. My understanding is that if you are not criminally charged in a shooting then you can use that as your defense in a civil trial. Obviously doesn't stop the civil suit. I guess it doesn't mean you won't be found liable in the civil suit but it should help. The best scenario would be, if there are no criminal charges, then there can be no civil suits. I believe this is the case in some states. (? MO) Jeff
  9. Also, the difference between TN & OR OC is that OC is legal in OR w/o HCP. Local authorities can make OC in OR illegal ie; Portland. Jeff
  10. Having lived and worked in St. Louis I was well aware of the idiocy that is IL and firearms. There is no question that we have appreciated being in TN since we moved here. We bought the cabin here for a reason. Thanks again for the well wishes. Jeff
  11. Thanks for all the kind words and advice. I'd like to not have to work there but I was working in St. Louis and was laid off in late Feb. We (wife, dog, & I) moved to our cabin we already owned here in Sevierville. I have not been able to find a job in my profession since moving here (including Knoxville). I was able to get a temp. job (similar to the one in IL) in GA for 4 mos. that ended the beginning of Oct. This helped to get caught up on some bills and get credit cards paid off. This 6 mo. assignment would have helped us to get some money stashed so it would be easier to tolerate being out of work for a bit. At this point, I really can't be too choosy about where I work. Continuing in the good news/bad news vein, I found out that the job in IL. won't be happening so I won't be going there. Of course, I still need a source of income. Oh well! Jeff
  12. Good News: On Sat Oct. 15th I was finally able to take the HCP course. On Mon. the 17th I went to the DMV and also had fingerprints done. I received my HCP today! 19 days from the day I took my course. Not bad. I figured mine might take longer as I have lived in 3 different states in the last seven years. Thought it might take longer for background checks. Bad News: I start a 6 mo. long work assignment in IL starting the 14th of this month. Oh well, we all do what we can. Jeff
  13. Galco King Tuk? Jeff
