shooting hogs as self defense in the GSMNP
Dad03 replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I would rather have to answer a few questions and/or face the law then to see a loved one injured while I stood by watching. That goes for any situation! -
I bet Montana is a nice place to visit this time of year....

I don't take it down any farther than a field strip. I blow dry the tight areas with my air compressor (gently), oil and its good to go.

Making a ramp for my landscape trailer. I need some expanded metal for the deck. 5'x6' to be exact. Only place I have found it wants $188 for a 4x8 sheet. Any leads on a cheaper place. Nashville area. Don't care if its used.

Looking through the current Sportsman Guide flyer I see a Sonic Cleaner from Lyman for $129.97 looks excatly like the HF sonic cleaner minus the Lyman logo and some other writing. The digital control board, lid, shape, size , etc all the same. Searched the internet and found this same unit with other manufacturers logo on it. Probably one manufacturer making it for all these guys. Just prices varying greatly.

I rolled the dice on an ultra sonic cleaner from harbor freight. They had the larger one on sale for 74.99. At the register she asked if I want the 2 yr warrenty. It would save another 9 bucks off the price. Ok lets go with that. It rings up 59.99 and with the warrenty charge I saved 9 bucks I get it home and set it up. A mild solution of simple green and water. Turn it on and it did not appear to be doing much. Stuck my finger in the water and it felt like a mild electric charge. OK, broke my Bersa 45 down and in it goes. Turned the heat on (oh yea it has heat) and set it for 4 minutes. After 4 minutes i stick my hand in only to find the water as hot as a fresh cup of coffee. It does not come with a handled basket so after quickly fishing out the parts all I could say was WOW! After an inspection and several more WOWs! I grab my 1911-22. surprisingly it fits completely in the basket too. 4minutes as before and WOW again. Gonna give my Glocks a bath next. I am sold on it. I read some nay sayers about the Harbor Freight unit not being big enough but it fit my 1911-22 just fine. Gets plenty hot and works great. Plus if it does break I have 2 years free replacement.

The main problem I have had with the primer system was it not seating a primer consistently. Several crushed primers and the hassle clearing the case from the shell plate with the primer half in. Eventually the primer arm gets crushed and its worthless. I bought the new LEE XR hand primer and it works great. Its a few extra steps but actually saves time by not having to deal with clearing crushed primers. BTW Send any bad parts back to Lee for a free replacement. Great service!

Forget the primer system and hand prime. On the other hand the powder drop is dead on each time. There are a few helpful videos on You tube. After I ditched the primer system and went with hand prime I have loaded at least 1000 40 s&w and .45 acp with no problems.

I took a small ammo can, installed an eyebolt to master lock the latch closed with a steel cable around the seat base. Just like the vaults above but for all of $15. Add some foam padding inside to prevent scratches and seal the eyebolt hole to water proof. Works great. In the event of a car flood may even keep the gun dry.

Not in the military but work for a Developer who builds housing (RCI= Residential Communties Initiative) on many Army, Navy and Air Force installations across the country. Also build new hotels and rennovate existing lodging for the Army (PAL=Privatized Army Lodging) across the country. Very rewarding hearing the responses from military families after they recieve the keys to their new homes.

I have the Chiappa 1911-22. I picked it up on here cheap. Keep the feed ramp polished and it runs great. I never though i could but I perfer it over my Ruger Mark I. The mags are a polymer but are not as cheaply built as they appear.

I know steel cases are not able to be reloaded for ammo but what about just for blanks? I have a yugo sks and that golf ball launcher to put on the end of the genrade launcher is pretty cool. The blanks to launch them in the gun are almost as expensive as the ammo itself. Maybe using a waxed end or something other than a crimped end.

No direct evidence, the whole thing was a circus. Pretty easy to create doubt. We can't rule by emotion. I think she knows exactly what happened if not a hand in it. Greater travisty is they will all get paid for interviews, books and movie deals.

I am not a pro welder but have been welding my hobbies for years. A tig machine is a pricey investment for what you are wanting to do. Go get a Lincoln 140 or 180 great all around mig. You can add gas for a mig or just flux core (without gas). Stay away from Harbor Freight crap especially if your learning how.

There are a few fresh beef sellers at the Franklin Farmers Market on Saturday mornings. I pick up briskets from these guys before. I remember it was a 4 or 5lbs brisket for $30ish.

Where to buy Lone Wolf Barrell for Glock 23
Dad03 replied to Dad03's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I broke down and ordered from Cheaper than Dirt $99 + shipping. Thanks -
Looking for a scope mount to put on my NHM 91. I have searched the sites but nothing jumps out and says "will fit NHM-91". Looking for some advice on where to look. Thanks
-
Everyone should own at least 1 or 2 or 3 or... <------------------

I want to get the Lone Wolf replacement barrell to shoot my lead cast reloads. I know I can get them online but is there anywhere local to Nashville, Murfreesboro that carries them. I heard a gun show in Nashville coming soon. Any vendors there carry them and could I get a better deal at the gun show.

That does look pretty close. May not be a major artifact but my kids sure got a kick out of finding it. I will hold on to it anyway. I was just happy it was not another nail! Thanks guys
-
Its definitely metal. Thanks

The kids were bored so I grabbed the metal detector and headed out with them to a small treed area where a ditch runs at the back of my property. I am not a serious relic hunter but was given these when my Grandfather passed and the kids love going out looking for treasure. Until now all I have found were some nails, and my property corners We dug this up about 8" down. Obviously shaped like an arrow head. Looks like one side is flat and the other has a taper like an edge. There is a small hole above the half circle at the bottom. Most old arrow heads have a small tang to insert into the arrow shaft and then wrap so don't believe its an arrowhead but.... Besides running it under some water I have not done anything to clean it. Not sure what is crusted clay or rust. I will soak it overnight to see if anything loosen up. Not sure what to make of it. Any guesses?

I started with this and have not deviated from it yet : 225 grn cast lead FP, 4 grns Bullseye, CCI 300, 1.22 OAL. With the exception of one trip to the range I have been pleased with this setup.

I feel stupid. You are correct. Not sure why I read that as a lifetime membership.
