All them dang zombies ain't gonna kill they selves!
Dad03 replied to Caster's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I cast and reload 180 grn 40 S&W and 230 grn 45 acp. I have the 45 recipe dialed in but still tweaking the 40. I plan on getting a mold for the 9mm and start reloading them one of these days. -
Just heard a new gun show on Discovery starting Oct 10 called American Guns. Two gun shows on Discovery? or did they drop Sons of Guns?

Antique shops are a good place to pick up old cast iron pots, ladels, corn bread molds for ignots While in Land Between the Lakes (Ky) at some antique mall I found some 10lb lead blocks that had a shop from Nashville name molded in it. $10 for 20lbs and they are now 220 grn 45 acp memories.

I dealt with this last year. I was told once they make the bag no treatment will penetrate the bag to kill them. If you spray you may get some when they come out to eat the leaves. Hand picking is the most effective way. I had 21 evergreens affected by them so handpicking was not an option I was willing to take. I sprayed malathion and it seemed to drop a bunch. They only devastated 1 tree and it is on its way back to green this year. This year I got out ahead of time and sprayed malathion before they came. Not one bag worm this year! Key is to spray before they come.

Wonder if they were HOT!

I am a member at CHMR. All the times I can go its packed! My father in law has property in Culeoka. Lately I just go to his house. As a bonus I don't catch as much flak from the wife because I am spending time with the in laws. (so she thinks)

It's reported that the steel used in the gun is excellent compared to other 1911's I came across a Norinco 1911 with Wilson match barrel & bushing . It had upgraded everything else but frame and slide at a local shop. Picked it up for under $500. Its an excellent shooter. <----- The NHM 91 AK (variant) in pic is a Norinco as well. Also an excellent weapon.

Need to get a custom made holster for it.

Went out this morning to test it out. I would call it an overall success. With just a paper target clipped to the steel the bullets definitley flattend and left a lot of lead on the pipe wall as it circled the pipe. I put some plywood infront of the opening with the target. I guess it helped slow the bullet down a bit. They ended up in the bucket more resembling a bullet. 22, 40s&w and 45acp. No dents or dings in the entrance chute or pipe. In the 4th pic you can see (in far left)where the round entered and hit the pipe wall and circled around. The pipe is 2.5' long but the rounds lost energy and dropped about 1/2 way down. Some did swirl up and hit the steel lid so be sure to have a lid. I will need to come up with a way to de-lead the pipe at some point. perhaps a propane torch to heat it up and melt off the walls. Not bad for $40 in steel, 1/2 hr on the plasma cutter, 1/2 welding and 2 hours scratching my butt trying to make up my mind. Time to dress it up and come up with a way to set it up. Thinking of a 4x4 frame to set it in. still be able to take it out for cleaning.

I guess I was too bored tonight. Ended up in the shop putting together a new bullet trap. I have seen a few of these on the internet seem like they worked well. I have been using one with an angled flat back but this seemed easier and cleaner to capture lead for recasting. The opening is roughly 13" by 11" all sides about 20 degree angles. Just under 100 lbs. Need to put some support legs under the opening. Its tippy. Going to test it out tommorow .22, 40 S&W and 45acp. if all goes well i will do the final welding and paint.

Your gonna get shafted anywhere you can walk in to sell.

Depends on what it is: Cars from dealers absolutely. Guns never, a man sets his price I either accept it or not. Wife wants to have another baby...definitely

Many years ago some kids where doing this at an overpass on I-10 near Blanding Blvd in Jax Fl. A large rock hit the windsheild on drivers side and sent a lady into the woods impacting a tree killing her. Went on for several more weeks until the city paid for high fencing on all overpasses in the area. Never caught them but believed it to be kids from nearby high school. Sad to hear it happening again. Maybe this is what we need to start doing to get these dumb azz's in check.

Looking for some ideas for a IWB or OWB holster for the Bersa UC 45. This gun does not seem to have many choices specifically made for it.

I like the show but theres a dang 10 minute commercial for every 7 minutes of show. Not sure if they all are like that and I am so into this one that its noticably annoying. May just wait until Charter has it on demand and FF through the commercials.

From the article on Calguns...."Plaintiff’s AK-47 type weapon had been modified with an orange barrel tip to resemble a toy." WTF is that about? Sounds like he was playing a game to see how far he can push it. They called his bluff. The officer was not violating his rights, he was protecting the others who also have the right to enjoy the park without feeling like they are in danger. If the officer had not done what he did and this guy opens fire then what? It's just like anything else these days, to protect some you are going to offend others. Like stated above there was no common sense used in this guys judgement to open carry an AK in a public park.I have the right to go swimming in shark infested waters....common sense tells me not to.

I have not finished it yet but its similiar to what I was putting together. I mocked up a test trap (before welding it all together) the angled back works great. I have 1/4" plate which appears more than enough for 9mm, 40 s&w & 45 cast lead reloads. I have not tried any rifle rounds and probably won't. Toss a bag of playground rubber mulch in the bottom.

She's too busy cleaning the house to notice. Oh man I hope she never reads that! I keep it within the discresionary budget and save a little each month. Smart trading helps too.

It's not even noon yet and my wife has used 4 of the 5 already.

Depends on the truck.A diesel, definitely used infact all the way back to the early 2000's. The new emission regs for diesels have turned them into a weaker species of power with bad mileage to boot.

Almost there... my first custom 1911!
Dad03 replied to durtyzulu's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I have seen those Kandros 1911's at D&T. They are sweeet!. Top notch all the way. Only problem I saw with them is that I will never be able to afford one. -
I work at the 1800 block of West End Ave. All the good 'stuff' is 42 miles away in Columbia.

I was just telling my wife I was going to take his course. Glad you posted your exeperience.Jeff was my instructor for concealed carry class. Nice guy, lots of interesting stories. -
Main draw back I have with the primer setup is there is so much going on (assuming a full turret) you can't feel whats going on with the primer seating. Not talking about seating depth but actual insertion. At least with hand prime I can instantly tell if there is an issue.

Was browsing for a good used 1911. Kings Firearms had a Norinco 1911. I had breifly read about how Norinco was an excellent base to build on due to the quality metal used in the frame, slide, etc and hard to find these days. Now for the sweet part. Someone had already added a Wilson match barrel and bushing, 2 piece solid rod, pachmyer grips, trigger. .......$465.00 Going to range tommorow!
