I build all of mine but I have a friends who's mother is wanting to buy him one. It would be easier for me to tell her to call and order one rather than go through the process of ordering from a bunch of different vendors. I don't care about brand as long as it isn't Hesse, Blackthorne or Vulcam Arms. Thanks Dolomite

I can hide my full size 1911 better than the Glock 17 I had. I have probably 600 rounds through my Metro Arms without a problem. I have now replaced every MIM part except the slide stop and hammer. The Kart barrel bushing I fitted made an even bigger difference in the accuracy. I am very, very pleased with mine. Dolomite

And now we all get punished because the TSA worker wasn't doing his job. That seems to be on par with most government programs though, punish everyone else other than those responsible. I bet the reason why the person will not be fired for this is the TSA is afraid of a whistleblower. I would love to hear a former TSA agent come clean on the who shenanigan. Dolomite -
If you look at the screen shot it has rankings. One is a "Motorcycle Cop" making it a game and some will use it maliciously to increase their rankings. Life as we know it is coming to an end. Dolomite

Take the IRS agents that would loose their jobs with the fair tax and let them lateral transfer over to ICE (immigration and Customs Enforcement). I posted it before but if I remember right that would give us 16 agents per mile of border betweeun Mexico as well as Canada. Problem is immigration isn't a priority because of money. When an illegal works here under false or stolen documents do you think they file tax returns at the end of the year? I seriously doubt it. Take the 11 million (yeah right) that are here illegally. If each were to be eligble for a $100 return that is $1.1 billion in unclaimed money for the government. A lot of money to look the other way. I seriously doubt that money is used to offset the burden they put on society as a whole because we have all seen an increase in our costs to cover explosion in illegal immigrant population. The reason the fair tax would never happen is it gives control back to the citizens. If we don't like how our money is being spent then we stop spending money, curtailing the governments budget. If it did pass it would force the government to save for the rainy days rather than spend every red cent, and then some, like they do now. I would like to see a national sales tax on everything sold. Get rid of state sales taxes and any form of income tax. Set the rate at 30%. 30% is way lower than anyone pays right now with all other taxes combined but because it gets those who don't normally pay taxes (drug dealers, illegals, welfare babies) the amount collected would be huge. For those on government assitance, not unemployment, there should be a few mandatory things they must do. First, you must do something and not sit on your ass all day. Whether it be pick up trash, answer a phone, or something else, you must do something to help and not hinder society. Second, you must submit to a random drug test once a year. 1st offense lose of benefits for a month. 2nd offense six months and 3rd offense lose of benefits for life. And finally some sort of birth control. Nothing permanent but as long as you are suckling at the government tit you shouldn't be able to bring another suckler into the world. And with this if you are found to not be on birth control you lose benefits in the same way as when you are using illegal drugs. And along with all of this if after you are on assitance you get arrested you lose benefits in the same ways as above, 1st offense 1 month, 2nd offense 6 months, 3rd offense life. I am not worried about those who got in trouble before but after you are on assistance you should be expected to be a law abiding citizen, which isn't that hard to do. Dolomite

I have never said anything bad about Delton, their rifles or their customer service, just their lower parts kits. Their uppers are as good as any budget rifle out there. And yes my go to gun is a budget build. I was just saying their lower parts kit has some quality issues compared to others. Dolomite
-
I guess the kit that was bought by a friend 2 weeks ago must have been a fluke. It was in a bag that said Delton and was obviously not a DPMS kit. Maybe their rifle kits include a DPMS kit but the Delton parts kit alone is not as good as DPMS. They are not finished the as good as DPMS and seem to be "as cast". DPMS kits have machined surfaces to ensure proper angles and the Delton kits are not. Will the Delton kits work, yes, are they as good as DPMS, I answer that with a resounding NO! Dolomite

A 1911 will not go off if the hammer is down and the hammer is struck. The firing pin doesn't protrude when the hammer is in the down position. It needs the kinetic energy of the hammer falling to overpower the firing pin spring in order for the round to go off. When the hammer is down there is no way a blow to the rear of the gun will make it go off. Now a blow to the front of the gun could potentially cause the gun to accidentally fire. It doesn't matter if the hammer is down or up. It could be forceful enough to make the firing pin overpower the firing pin spring and strike the primer. The series 80 Colts have a firing pin block that prevents this. On a 1911, as long as the thumb safety is engaged there is no way the hammer will fall. The thumb safety locks the sear against the hammer preventing it from falling off the hammer hook. The 1911 can fire from a fall if thumb safety isn't engaged even if the grip safety isn't depressed. The grip safety only prevents the trigger from moving rearward but it doesn't prevent the sear from being bumped off the hammer during a fall. But even with the thumb safety engaged a good drop on the nose has the potential to fire for the reasons above. Glad it worked out for you but most modern guns are reasonably safe from a fall. The striker fired pistols are probably some of the safest because the springs are not loaded like most other designs. Dolomite

I have went through probably 20 pairs since 2006. They held up well for me considering what I was doing. They do fade and shrink with washings but it did take a little time for that to happen and I was hard on mine. You can feel them change and when they feel different, as in more pliable, they will start to rip and tear. They seem a bit thicker than most pants which is probably why they shrink. As far as use in hot and cold weather. In cold weather they are great but in hot weather they don't seem to breathe well. These are the cotton versions and not the hot weather versions. The rear angled pocket just doesn't seem to work well for anything. It is too big for a wallet as well as letting it sit low enough to be a pain to get to and hurts when sitting for any length of time. The pocket doesn't do well for a quick place to stick a firearm. I have tried it several ways and none really worked well. The rest of the pockets are handy and work well. I would watch LA Police gear and Botach Tactical for deals. A bit of advice about Botach. Do not expect to receive what you order and you won't have a problem. That way when you do get it you are going to be happy. I have placed three orders with them but only received one and this seems to be a running theme with them. My last order I was on the phone with the warehouse manager checking to make sure the items I was ordering were in stock. I hit submit when I was on the phone. When I didn't receive my order I called and was told the items ahd been out of stock for months. Botach has the best prices on clearance stuff. The one order I did receive was 5.11 pants for $4.95 each. I think in a business/casual enviroment 5.11 pants will last a long time. Dolomite

+1 This is what I have done for a few firearms. I also use the same method with titanium dioxide, the whitest substance known to man, with great success. The epoxy will not wear off or chip like paint. If you can charge it the sight will be a lot brighter than tritium. If you can't then it is basically useless. When I have to grab my gun in the middle of the night I charge it when I grab my flashlight. I've got everything you would need to do it if you want to get together. I live about 20 miles east of Knoxville. Dolomite

Made my first big time reloading mistake

Trailboss for a good plinking load. It is a very fluffy powder that should nearly fill the case. It is so fluffy that they sell them in the containers that 1 pound normally comes in yet only weighs 9 ounces. I have used it for various projects and it works well when you are wanting to take up case space. And as far as your previous problem. Always weigh the powder charge. I have never had the Auto Disk chart be right. If you suspect the powder wasn't being ignited you may try a magnum primer or even a small rifle primer if your gun will set it off. I use small rifle primers in all of my 9mm loads. I have never had a problem but a friend who owns a Ruger did. I even use small rifle primers for my 45 ACP loads. I bought 45 ACP brass with small primer pockets just so I could use small rifle primers. Really dirty powder is an indication that the powder didn't completely burn. If there are large granuals still in the barrel or case then I would suspect the powder didn't ignite properly. One more thing, what size bullets are you using? I have had issues when I used .355" bullets designed for 9mm in a 38 special. I have had a round get stuck despite the loads being near max. Dolomite -
I'll PM you the name of a good lawyer in Knoxville a little later in the AM. My sister is going through a divorce and her attorney took care of her. Everything is signed with her, she is just waiting for the 90 days to tick by. Her husband got what he deserved and then some. He was a deadbeat dad, didn't want anything to do with their daughter and he lived in the same house. He would drop the daughter off with anyone in the family so long as he didn't have to spend time with her. He cross dressed and went to "conventions" every other weekend, those pictures were extremely helpful. He refused to help with the household bills and food while at the same time trying to file for bankruptcy secretly to stick her with 1/2 of his debt. He even had his own food areas that no one was allowed to get food from. If the daughter grabbed something to eat from his food he would go crazy. I would not try to hide known assets. Any lawyer worth a damn is going to be able to find out what was there right before everything blew up. When you go in front of the judge and they are able to prove you were trying to hide something then it only gets worse for you because the judge won't believe anything you say. Now you can "sell" items to fund the divorce but don't do the "I sold it for $1" tactic, make sure all receipts are for the reasonable value of the item but definitely not for a dollar. If you have untraceable assets like guns or tools then move them to another location but nothing that can be tied to you. Be prepared for anything bought or any assets accumulated after the marriage to be 1/2 hers. Stuff you had before the marriage may also be 1/2 hers but it would be easier to contest. If you supported her during the marriage you might have to pay her alimony until she is able to get back on her feet or until she remarries, which would really suck. If you have kids do whatever it takes to be the primary custodian, lie, cheat, whatever. Once you have primary custody it is harder for her to take it away as well as the fact you might get a judgement for child support. Any evidence you have against her make sure to get it now, don't wait. If you have access to her email go through it and look for anything that might help you. Depending on the cell phone carrier you can get a record of calls, maybe even texts. Do this before she is able to isolate herself from you. At this point nothing is out of bounds so long as you keep it legal. Anything in the house belongs to both of you so feel free to snoop through her stuff as you see fit. She has no expectation of privacy as far as anything in the house goes. If she was cheating she probably has some evidence of that in the house somewhere. Assume every conversation with her is recorded, don't get goaded into saying anything that might hurt your case. Also, assume every email will come up in court as well. Even though she said she was not coming back move to evict her because even though she said she wasn't coming back she still could come back and move back in. Once she is in the house, depending on how evil she is, she sould call 911 and claim domestic abuse to use as fuel for the divorce. While working in LE I saw it a few times. My sister had to file a motion to evict on her soon to be ex. Even after the divorce decree was signed he refused to leave and has had to be evicted. His name is on nothing related to the house yet because he lived there he is a tenant and she legally couldn't make him leave without evicting him. If you suspect infidelity and can prove it you can sue the man she was with. It will also help out your divorce case because the courts may see it as her fault and award her nothing because she brought it on herself. Seems to be a rash of the "alienation of affection" suites that are being successful lately. Hell, if she is cheating make she was/is with pay you. Hire a private investigator to help out as well. And the biggest piece of advice I can give you is this, DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING SHE SAYS AND DON'T FEEL SORRY FOR HER! It is her fault after all. Dolomite

They are shooting and killing each other every day in the inner cities, maybe as bad here as other places but it still happens. It isn't much of a stretch for them to turn their sights on someone other than a rival gang especially if they think they can get away with it. Also consider this, they have been living in war zones a lot longer than most of us and this has become a way of life for some. If it came down to loosing their benefits or pulling a trigger I suspect they would have no problems doing the later. As far as equipment to do it. They are just as well equipped as most gun owners and probably better. They have body armor as well as the same weapons we have. At a show last year I saw several thug types buying up every drum mag they could for their AK's. Dolomite

Yeah but there are a lot more than that who would fight those 9,000,000 if told to if they were told they would lose their government benefits if they didn't. There isn't a state in the US that doesn't have at least 3% of its population on the government tit with some having much, much more. In September of last year over 50 million (16+% of the US population) received some sort of benefit from the government and that number has no doubt increased since then because of the economy. There is already a large population that believe they are entitled to a portion of what we have and all they need is permission to take it. Dolomite

what do you guys think of this thing? Bump/slide fire stock?
Dolomite_supafly replied to a topic in Long Guns
This is designed just like the AA was except the AA had an internal spring to for the gun forward into the trigger finger. This design has the grip and stock are stationary and the rifle moves within the stock similar to the AA. The AA was approved then after thousands were sold at $500+ each they reversed their decision. They told AA to purchase ALL of the stocks back. When they weren't able to they ATF ruled that anyone in possession of the AA with the internal spring installed was in possession of a MG essentially turning a $500 stock into a $50 stock overnight. Even though it doesn't have a spring to assist it forward like the AA I suspect it will eventually be classified as a MG. Hell, the ATF declared a shoestring as a MG when attached to a Mini-14. Shoe string no longer a machine gun, per ATF - bobernet dot com I like the design and would like to try one out to see if it makes it any easier. I am able to bumpfire pretty much any semi auto gun I own as long it isn't a heavy beast so I wonder if I could any better. For $300 I have better things to spend money on but more power to you. Hope you enjoy it for a very long time. Dolomite -
Stay away from the Edge, now called the Axis, if you plan on upgrading anything. There is absolutely no aftermarket support for them right now and will likely take years if they ever do. Now a Stevens 200 on the other hand is about the same price as the Edge (Axis) and all the parts for a standard Savage bolt right up except the accutrigger. This includes aftermarket triggers, stocks, scope mounts. Another great thing about a Stevens/Savage is the barrels are replaceable without the need of a smith. A Remington requires fitting and machining by a smith to fit a barrel and in most cases cost $300+. On the other hand if you do decide to have a smith replace the barrel on your Stevens/Savage it will be less than $50, my smith charges $30. I replace my barrels in about 10 minutes. It is easy and if you have ever changed a tire you can replace the barrel on a Stevens/Savage. Dolomite

Their parts kits are lacking. Get a DPMS parts kit and don't look back. Delton is functional but hardly the best for the money. BCM is a very high quality gun for the money. Stag is also a decent maker for the money as well. They may not be as cheap as Delton but the parts that go into a BCM or Stag are well above Delton's stuff. Dolomite

Show this weekend @ Expo Center
Dolomite_supafly replied to Bubbatn's topic in Events and Gatherings
David and I both contacted the state after the incident earlier this year. I had everything I needed to file a formal complaint but decided against it and allowed the promoter to make things right, which he did. As I said before the Expo Center is responsible for their own security as part of the contract with RK Shows. They charge RK Shows for the security they provide rather than allow RK to provide his own which is how it was a few years ago when the KCSO officers worked it. After my last incident I probably spent 30-45 minutes total talking to Rex, the promotoer, about everything related to his shows as well as the Expo Center. Maybe I'll call Rex and see if he is going to make it down that way he can see first hand. I doubt he would see it unless he made sure they didn't know it was him. I don't know him well but I got the feeling he would do anything to try to make his shows better for his customers. Dolomite -
Show this weekend @ Expo Center
Dolomite_supafly replied to Bubbatn's topic in Events and Gatherings
I have contacted the show promoter. He made sure what was taken from me was replaced and I thanked him for it but the ammo that was taken from me is a drop in the bucket. He has also said that after every Expo show he gets a lot of calls complaining about the security there. I suspect that the sales at the Expo Center have gone down since they quite using KCSO deputies a few years ago. It would hard to tell because of the recession but I have spoke to several strangers at the show and they have said it will be there last out there. I like the Expo Center, the light is a lot better than Chilhowee but honestly if I do go this weekend it will be the last on the current contract. If you want to see what I am talking about first hand do one of two things. Either enter with ammunition, whether loose or in magazine, or stand outside with a gun in hand like you are selling it. Either of these actions will get you some attention and then threats from the security if you quesiton them. They have grabbed people for nothing more than trying to talk to them. They make sure to treat the customers with no respect yet if you don't give them the upmost respect they make sure to threaten or actually grab you like some little kid. It doesn't even have to be physical to be assault. TCA 39-13-101. Assault. — (a) A person commits assault who: (1) Intentionally, knowingly or recklessly causes bodily injury to another; (2) Intentionally or knowingly causes another to reasonably fear imminent bodily injury; or (3) Intentionally or knowingly causes physical contact with another and a reasonable person would regard the contact as extremely offensive or provocative. Using this criteria the white haired guy has assaulted quite a few people not including the times he has actaully grabbed customers. Dolomite
