  1. I don't necessarily have a problem with it either...but then it should be all property owners and not just owners of places that serve alcoholic beverages.
  2. I would wager you can't count on both of these amendments, and others, being introduced again when it makes it to the floor.
  3. Have just spent 2.5 hours watching the legislature and need to cook supper now, but if anyone else has the time... Is Belle Meade a home rule city? If so can home rule cities make such an ordnance that wouldn't be affected by preemption? If the answer to either of the above is now.....I don't think this will fly.
  4. Her amendment was to have no liability for business owner, employee, etc... for use of handgun buy HCP holder. Guess it was tabled to, but didn't here vote.
  5. Passes 8-4 Sent to Finance Ways and Means
  6. BILL PASSES!!! 8-4 Goes to Finance Ways and Means next
  7. No problems for me... Fingers crossed
  8. Amendment introduced by Coleman To allow slash and gun only instead of sign. Motion to tabled by a vote of 7-6
  9. Finally...here we go....hold on boys and girls....
  10. Note: This bill also included an amendment to address UT prohibiting firearms ownership by student athletes. Speaker from UT says they have backed off from original statement by athletic director.....just want to control carry on campus and school related events, not prevent ownership or use in general. Lots of discussion. Including if amendment goes beyond scope of the caption. Rolled one week. Going to seek AG opinion.
  11. Discussion on other bills besides HB3125 being done here http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/tennessee-politics-legislation/36951-bills-being-heard-today-3-16-10-a.html
  12. Committee Chairman made a "quick list" of bills he felt would not have any or much discussion and going to those first. As you might guess...HB3125 not on that list.....
  13. Both rolled one week.
  14. Hmmm....not bad, but probably too late to change now....
  15. I see Chief Serpas in the crowd....can hardly wait to hear what he has to say....
  16. Video is up Tennessee General Assembly::Streaming Video
  17. As long as you don't keep consuming, I really don't see a charge and/or prosecution but anything is possible I guess. The law is not going to pass if any type of consuming is allowed...so how would you like to see it changed to protect innocent people?
  18. Yep....guess you may need someone else to take a sip on any beverages you order before you consume them. But can't say I have ever accidentally got an alcoholic drink in any restaurant....lol Most of the time don't alcoholic and non-alcoholic come in different type glasses?
  19. The penalty for consuming they were talking about would only be while you were in a place that was open to the public that served alcohol. Otherwise the other sub-section of "being under the influence" would apply. Guess you could sort of think of it like the "open container" law on driving. Not counting any city ordnances....it is not illegal to stand out side and drink...as long as you don't get to the point of violating the public intoxication law. But if you are behind the wheel of a car, you can not even have an open container of alcohol, let along drink it. So with this law (as of last version I saw) in general, just consuming while armed wouldn't necessarily violate the law, unless you consumed to the point you were "under the influence" But if you are within the confines of a place open to the public that serves alcohol you can't even consume a drop. Guess we'll just have to see what they finally come up with.
  20. Well to clarify, I don't remember ever hearing the word felony mentioned, but considering that currently it is a Class A Misdemeanor, felony is the only way to increase the penalty as far as jail time/fine but perhaps they simply meant/want revocation of the HCP
