  1. Much better than your pre-edited message...... In other threads some have said the search function didn't work so well. So I think kingtone was just trying to show it does. Not so much directed at you specifically.
  2. You would know better about your area than I would, but are you sure? Where I used to work as a 911 operator/dispatcher we answered the 911 lines plus the non-emergency numbers for 3 different LE agencies (small county). Yes...no matter what numbered you dialed you were going to get the same person/dispatcher but if you dialed the 7 digit non-emergency number it would leave the 911 lines open for true emergencies. I just figure there has to be a 7 digit number to reach the appropriate dispatcher...even if it is the same person you would get by dialing 911
  3. Not a bad idea....
  4. ....only if it is used.
  5. I'm with you......I went out to eat the other night....being law abiding I left my gun in the car. Had a couple of beers with me steak. Came back out, rearmed and drove home. Hard to really see what the difference would have been if I had been armed the whole time. My point was that even if you are against the above.....going into a package store and purchasing it is even less controversial than the above.
  6. Believe it or not...it is already being discussed...
  7. Not a bad idea either....
  8. Welcome
  9. Ummm...there is a difference between purchasing it and consuming it. As far as you or anyone else know, he was going to disarm at home before consuming it.
  10. Hmmm....not a bad idea.
  11. I think I may change my vote for the "Ignore Thread" feature....lol
  12. True...because every person that wants to know the answer has to have their own thread instead of posting in an existing one.
  13. I understand. Just seemed neat...on the surface at least...lol
  14. Probably not a big demand for it, but on another board running vBulletin they had an "Ignore Thread" feature. I just usually read the threads I want then in the forum screen choose make forum read when I'm done. But if there is a thread you just don't want to see this might be helpful. If you don't mind David, will just add a poll to see if any are interested.
  15. Haven't heard that..... Doubt that is true...even if they don't like citizens with HCPs they can't do anything about it.
  16. I agree...other than the smart remark of "what are they teaching you" and "it scares the public" sounds like the LEOs were doing their job. They had a report of a person with a gun....which is illegal in TN if you don't have a permit. You showed your permit and was allowed to go. Wonder why the park patrol didn't confront you. Could have been as easy as, "Sir, do you have a carry permit?" ... "Yes" (show it to him) ... "Thank you sir" and that be the end of it. I agree in states where OC is legal without a permit..LE really has not reason to stop a person just because they are OCing, but in TN since a permit is required, one should expect to have to show their HCP when OCing. I think you handled it very well.
  17. Sounds like a good interaction. May I ask....did you just out of the blue say you carry or did it come up in some way?
  18. Welcome
  19. Welcome
  20. Welcome
  21. If I get mine in the same time frame I should have it right around when it expires myself. But I hope to get to renew it again...despite what the Mian calendar, Nostradamus say or what BHO may do.
  22. 6 months before the expiration date
  23. You know...I have never thought about the out-of-state thing. That is a very good point. I only renewed mine a couple of weeks ago and it expires in May. Wonder if it'll be back before some out of state trips in June? The only reason I can think that it takes so long is the low staffing of the HCP office and the fact there is a statutory time limit of 90 days on new applications and no time limit on renewals. So I imagine renewals are a lower priority, especially since you can still carry with the receipt. But that may not help with out-of-state officer........
