  1. Interesting. If I were walking in a parking lot with my little girl and noticed a car backing into our direction closely, I would slap the hell out of that car whether it was an accident or not. I imagine anyone would in that situation. Getting into an discussion about who's getting a beating after the situation is an entirely different scenario, especially with a kid present. However losing my head with an adrenaline dump keeping my kid from getting run over...? No telling what I would do honestly. The real question I have though is in regards to the idea of pulling your gun on a guy with a little girl in a parking lot. Regardless if glass was broken, fist were thrown, how does one pull on an unarmed man with a kid--unless they felt their life was in danger? different if it were multiple attackers, he was armed, disparity of size, ect.
  2. Any law enforcement here that can tell us what ammo is used in a service AR?
  3. The strange thing is 9 & 40 did no damage to my steel plate at 10 yards. The 233 however, obliterated the steel plate at 100 yards. Go figure. Guess I'm learning about ballistics with trial & error. How can law enforcement trust such a round indoors?
  4. Not a bad read. Books like these are more entertainment than anything. If you liked One Second After and Lights out, try Jakarta Pandemic. Quick read about a suburban neighborhood during a flu pandemic shtf. Which neighbors do you help and which do you have to shoot. That would be a tough reality to live through.
  5. Ok. So I have heard time and time again that an Ar is an excellent choice for home defense. I've heard that the 223/556 round doesn't over penetrate too many walls and that walls cause tumbling which helps over penetration to your neighbors bedroom next door. However, seeing this http://i1311.photobucket.com/albums/s662/jsg78/photo_zps733bf0be.jpg Makes me a little nervous about the Ar for home defense. That's a 3/16" hardened steel target made for handguns up to 44mag. The seller, at a gun show, told me its made for handguns and 22 but can be used with rifles if 100+ yards. Well that was done at 100 yards with Pmc223. The holes are about 75-90% through with a single edge shot completely through. Therefore, how, in terms of velocity and ballistics, could an ar not end up in your neigjbor's kid's room next door? I'm sticking with my pump mossberg with 7 shot just in case. What say you?
  6. You'll love it. THe triangle/arrow means it was manufactured at the "Tula" plant in Russia. (correct if i'm wrong gents) I love my mosin. Best deal for the money for sure. In regards to recoil, shoot it standing first to absorb the recoil. Bench rest shooting does get painful after a while. The metal buttplate doesn't help. I imagine it doesn't kick any more than a 30-06 deer rifle. But 15-20 rounds does leave a mark while shooting at the bench. Loud .....? you'll get a few looks from your neighbors at the range. have fun...
  7. Great Board! looking forward to spending too much time on here. New gun owner and member at Owl Creek in Franklin. Been through one Critical Incident class and looking forward to taking more this season. Hope to do a lot of shootin this year. Keep up the good work guys. J
