  1. Overalls do limit carry some but you can adjust. I rarely wear waist pants (I've even worn overalls to the opera). Big loose pockets on overalls allow for larger guns and the suspenders hold them up. I sometimes carry a Taurus 2" 617 in the RF, Keltec 3PAT in LR, and a S&W snubbie airweight in the RR. My wallet and ignition keys in the LF,knife clipped on a bibb pocket and all my other keys to a right side button hole with a halyard snap. Old timey cargo pants.
  2. I am a strong believer in property rights. It is what seperates us and our econmy from all others in the world. Having said that a fire arm secured in a vehicle is not going to harm a business owner's profit position. If that is a concern then simply give a property owner immunity from litigation in maters of fire arms in vehicles along with a parcking lot gun bill. I support the position that the property owner's right to control their property does not trump my right to protect myself, and I'm willing to live with the consequences. If a person is serious about self protection then carry and be damned. I have never had a job I couldn't afford to loose, and was able to retire when I was 50. No one owes any one a job and loosing one isn't the worse thing that can happen.
  3. Most folks opperate on the assunption that the USPS will always be in it's present form. I don't. The USPS does not cover it's cost. It's subsidized and maintains a monopoly because of it. It cannot compete with private enterprise unless it has that monopoly,so eventually it will either cease or become a manager of contracts for private concerns that actually deliver mail or parcels. The various parcel delivery companies could out perform the USPS if it weren't for the government's imposed monopoly. As a voter and tax payer I do not support government doing anything that private enterprise can do better.
  4. So who wants to be the first test case? Going to the PO is like going to another country; they own you until you leave. Besides there is no reason to go to a PO any more. You can do it all on line and Fedex and UPS can deliver it better. "if it fits it ships" is basically Fedex.
  5. Bud's Guns carries a good range of CZs.I buy from them regularly. Most times their price plus transfer fee will still be less than local plus sales tax.
  6. Since this got off on health care, I've had to use medical facilities in other countries. I had to go to a doctor in kobe once and it was about the level of the early 60s here. Hong Kong not much better. In Karachi our crew had to go for mandatory vacinations (required by the Pakis) it was done at our embasy by pakistan medicos and was not that clean plus they used same needles for two vaccinatios. When Castro needs medical care he goes to Spain and when a lot of European medical types need care they come here. I have friends in Canada that drive over to New York for special treatment. When i was a kid most families only had catastrophic insurence. They paid for everything else out of pocket. We were basically poor farmers but my folks managed to scrimp enough to have blue cross through the farm bureau. I've been all over this world and we have the best medical care there is. Our only problem is government is involved in health care. Thats the way I vote and if I can do anything to reverse govt. health care I will. I go to the VA for my care but I'm not srevice connected disable , so you can have that to if it will save money.
  7. I agree that enforcing present laws would do it, but promising to make new ones gets more votes.
  8. If you are a Southerner you and other Southerners will know it. If you aren't then you and Southerners will also know it. It's how you were raised and it helps being raised in the South. My family came to this country in 1611. We have relatives that migrated north and west but most of us are still in the South. I am a decendant of slave holders yet my life long good friend and neighbor is black and we both think Southern and country. My wife raised in Nashville is a decendant of slaves and slave holders and each ancestor was black. when i'm around her family I only try to fit in as country and Southern. I don't try to "feel their pain". Southerners seem to be more connected to place than most others in this nation. R.E. Lee and countless others have mentioned this connection to place that we have, and it isn't the same as some of the BS you hear from people in the big northern cities. My wife was representing her company at a publishing trade show at Vanderbilt several years ago and the writer Alice Randall ( who wrote "The Wind Done Gone" and lives in TN) gave a talk on the South and Southern pride. After the talk as my wife was in her booth two yankees walked by discussing the talk and one says to the other " I'm from New York and I don't have new York pride". So, what is a yankee? Well it's "those people"
  9. I've got a couple of Bodark (osage orange) sticks that I keep in my trucks. They are just small limbs growing off a larger one which becomes the handle. I have some cured bodark I plan on making a curved neck stick out of one day. Hickory also makes a good stick.
  10. Check out "Simply Rugged". His pancakes don't need retention straps. Go to his sight look and read. I have three of them and they are great holsters.
  11. enfield: I would be interested in something like you have mentioned for my wife. She needs basic knowledge and I would prefer someone else instruct her. Is your club in middle Tn and how may we contact them?
  12. That's beautiful work don't doubt yourself. The average citizen can't do squat. Most folks would love to have a holster (me included) that good from someone that they could work with.
  13. We don't go out in the evening except when traveling to reenactments sometimes; so that reduces a lot of risk. However, I won't be seated in a place where I can't see the door or place myself near a wall with no one behind me. corner booth is fine either side will do. I carry mostly right side but am pretty much ambidextrous. I like to carry a Simply Rugged pancake cross draw back up on the left that can slide around to a belly gun while seated. My paranoia comes from the honky tonks of my youth and the water front bars of south east Asia.
  14. July 13 1862 was Forrest's raid on Murfreesboro and his birthday, so after the battle he and staff were invited to the Maney's farm (Oaklands) for supper. All they had was black eye peas and sweet taters. So on the 13th of july each year many Southern heritage, and living history folks have black eye peas and sweet taters to commemorate the raid and Forrest's birthday. The Murfreesboro camp Sons of Confederate Veterans holds a supper at Oaklands each year serving black eye peas and sweet taters( among other things).
  15. Are foxes plentiful in perry county?
  16. We have black eye peas year round, but especially on the first day of the year and july 13th. I have onions ,carrots, celery, and bell pepper with frozen veggies sauteing in a cast iron pot with black eye peas and rice to go in later. Have that with some corn bread.
  17. What did you get the PMR 30 for and how do you like it?
  18. With pistols always one in the chamber; sometimes cocked and locked. Revolvers, all holes filled all the time.
  19. I have an 1895 Marlin in 45-70 and a 20 round box will leave your shoulder black an blue. Don't know what you would use one for around here. I tried shooting coyotes with it at 150 yds or so, but too much drop. 22 mag from a 20 inch barrel is much better.
  20. If I have to go in a mall I usually shed down to an airweight snubbie or a mouse gun. malls are piss holes.
