Standard procedure for a Defense atty to go for mentally incompetent when he has nothing else to hang his hat on. With that much painstaking prep, he was playing with a full deck.
Personally, it doesn't matter to me if he was nuttier than a fruit cake, get the same punishment as anyone else.
If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.

Thanks for the heads up. Not sure how to feel a bout this. It sound fair until one considers it would put more pressure on the DA charging to plea bargain on go full bore for a conviction. No matter what facts are revealed during the trial process.
Overall, I say NO
It could also put pressure on the DA to not bring charges in a case of this type, clearly self defense, rather that bow to political pressure, media, etc.
Personally, I hope it passes.

Mentally Ill were turned out, years ago in TN, when they closed all the State Run facilities. They did that because of all the law suites which took 20 years to settle all of them. I think all the states did the same, so there are few facilities to house them.
So now the Police are faced with dealing with them on the streets, basically.
Dealing with the mentally ill is not an easy thing to do.
The old Central State mental hospital years ago, was replaced in 1995 by Mid Tenn Mental hospital. When I was a Corrections Officer in the Trousdale Co. lockup from 2003 thru 2006, I've had to transport inmates there as well as Cumberland Mental health in Lebanon. Male & female.
An inmate having issues would have the crisis team come in for an evaluation, if needed, then sent to one of the above institutions. Usually they could only keep them 30 days, then sent back to the jail. The County caught the brunt of the problem. I've had to talk some that were suicidal down out of their tree. One in particular had a bad day in court, came back tried to hang himself. Managed to avoid that.
Build more institutions? Costs big buck, taxpayers don't want to pay for it, that simple. Not a popular thing for a politician to bring before the Legislature.
This is complicated in so many ways. It's not likely to change.

Traffic was stopped. He'd have to wait a while to get run over. Reporters need to stick to reporting, rather than try to tell what a mentally ill man was thinking.

This is kinda like "silly season " in NASCAR. Rumors flying everywhere. Most won't hold water.

MNPD has some units with mental health professionals attached. This response was not one of them.

I love how the reports have gotten walked back because reporters got ahead of themselves and reported a story without confirmation.
True, this report(s) are premature. Nothing official yet from Brady.

The decommissioned officer fired two rounds after he was down, according to the news. That's a no no. When the threat is over, deadly force no longer applies. Sou ds like that may have been the case. I'll wait till the TBI gets it sorted out before I'll pass judgment.
Of course, the blood sucking lawyers have already made an appearance on behalf of his family. The lawyer was on TV, sounded like she was making it up as she spoke. Really don't like these people. Turned it off before she shut up.

First, I believe Walther will stand behind any issues that arise. Second, strange that they went from the RSMc cut with 4 mounting posts, to a flat plate, back to the Gen 2 setup.
I have the RSMc setup with the 4 posts, it locks in tight. If you want to go with the 407c sight, you have to remove the rear posts & mill down the front to fit. Why not just leave well enough alone?

How is that different from the gun grabber's "if it saves just one life" BS????
Not to mention, shouldn't the public demand that cops be honest? In court: "Were you lying then or are you lying now, detective?" How would a jury know which part was/is the lie?
To me, resorting to lying means someone is too GD lazy to do their job properly.
Have you ever worked in law enforcement or the justice system? This is not TV drama.

If you think lever rifles are expensive, flip your tv over to the Mecum auto auctions. The classic cars have at least doubled since last year.

Amen. Anyone that believed they destroyed records is likely sitting on a beach in Arizona waiting for the tide to roll in.
