My M16/M203, iron sights, served me well in 'Nam. Not likely to run into anything worse that that.

Are you saying you saw satan scurrying back to hades to take a break from the heat?
That he was. Never seen him move that fast.

In my neck of the woods, it's hotter than Hades with all the fires lit.

Suppose TVA is looking over their shoulder now at the Hartsville nuclear plant they started back in the mid 70s. Would have been the world's largest at that time. One cooling tower still standing.
Supposedly, they decided they didn't need it. Great planning by someone.

Erik, my friend, I think you’ve finally stumbled onto the right path.
Politicians, as well as criminals, don’t give a chit about kids dying, or obeying laws. Politicians don’t care about criminals having guns. They want YOUR guns!!!!! Why do you think that is, Erik?
Yessir! Folks, I've said it before, this is not about "gun" control, it's about people control. When they take our guns they have control of us.
Remember Nazi Germany? Confiscated all guns, we know how that went.

And we went off the rails when people used this thread as their own personal pulpit. Both groups have made valid points. The Indian issue is just as valid as bringing up the transgender topic. This is an extremely complicated issue that we're all trying to make sense of.
I'm not convinced more Christianity is somehow going to stop this issue. Back when more people when to church we had a whole host of other issues. My Baptist friends still think that being gay is a "lifestyle" and will lead to eternal damnation. I'm sure many here do as well.
Anyways, I saw this comment on Reddit 4 years ago and it always stuck with me. I may have shared it before but it's worth sharing again.
It appears the topic has left the building.

That’s good to know and I salute your dedication. The thing is, local LEO’s that could be your grandchildren are being heavily scrutinized and increasingly thrown under the bus for what happened in Uvalde.
People are looking to law enforcement to protect the schools and most importantly the children within.
How can that be achieved when LE has no duty or responsibility to protect as has been decreed by the Supremes.? Or there there is just too much plain lack of common sense, bureaucracy, and perhaps cowardice to get anything done when it needs to be done?
Garufa, I can't begin to explain officers waiting outside while children are being killed. Also, can't understand the Supreme Court decision.
There's no shortage of explanations, but most make no sense, at least to me. Wonder how well they sleep at nite.

Training is one thing, doing it is another.
Would you go in and challenge the threat?
This story changes more and more by the hour but didn’t the BP officer have a child in that school...that was killed?
Certainly. That's my duty. I took it seriously.
I served in combat in 'Nam. Nothing new.

It is my understanding that a border control agent actually neutralized the shooter. Is that correct? If so, it damned sure wasn’t HIS job.
When I was with the Sheriff's Dept. we did active shooter training each year, sometimes within our Dept, sometimes with other depts. We trained & were told, the first one or more on the scene to enter immediately & neutralize the threat. This came about after Columbine, where officers waited outside for SWAT to arrive. That's been the standard since. It hasn't always been followed.
So, if the BP officer was first, as reported, it was his job, regardless of jurisdiction.

And , of course, the first response is , we need more gun laws.

F UCK Lon Horiuchi’s murdering ass. I have a policy of not dancing on graves but I look forward to hearing about him rotting in hell.
I could not agree more. One of the worst tragedies in our history. Everybody should read this story.

Driving up I40 yesterday heading to my kid’s baseball tournament, I spied a quite attractive girl pulled over on the shoulder, digging around in her car’s trunk while wearing shorts that could better be described as a thin belt with her azz cheeks prominently displayed. She was parked conveniently next to a wooded area where one couldn’t see what I expect was a group of thugs ready to take advantage of the first dumb guy who was generous enough to stop and offer help.
I told the wife that reminded me of the fake deer game wardens place in fields to attract road hunters.
I was surprised to not see the after effects of this display on the news this morning.
Sorry guys. I was running 80 in traffic and decided against my better judgement to not get out the phone and snap a pic.
Perhaps I’m just cynical anymore, but it sure looked like a trap to me.
Smart decision I'd say.

NBC news reports she shot herself in the head, causing her death. Apparently, police accuracy was up to snuff.

The date of that action was Apr 25, '67. Today is Apr 25, 55 yrs later. He passed on the 23rd. Kinda spooky being that close.

I got the bad news I had been expecting & dreading this afternoon. Ken Stumpfs' son called to tell me he had passed today about 2:30 pm.
As I said before, he was a good man, friend, & soldier. He will be missed. Not a day went by I didn't think of him.
At least he is no longer suffering.
Rest in peace, Stumpy.
