Tragic story from St Louis where two children are dead after playing with a hand gun. However, it just bothers me when folks say “the gun just went off by accident”.  As we all know, guns don’t just go off.

I wish when journalists wrote articles, they would be more accurate with the way they described how accidental shootings happen.  Instead of “they were playing with the gun and it accidentally went off”, say “they were playing with the gun when he/she accidentally pulled the trigger”.

I have never owned a zero-turn mower but they look pretty fantastic for getting things done quickly. Sadly, there were a few zero turn related  accidents back in my hometown last year. One where a farmer broke his back when his trailer came unhitched while loading his zero turn and it flipped over on him backwards. Unfortunately another gentleman who had been mowing with one for 20 plus years died when his somehow ended up in a creek on top of him and pinned him under the water,  his face only a few inches from the surface. The third incident was where a guy rolled his off into a dry creek bed, fortunately he was not injured badly. Im not saying these three things couldn't and don't  happen with a standard garden tractor mowers but it does appear that you need to be extra careful on uneven and wet terrain especially when new to the zero turn mechanics. Be safe out there.

Hardly put the blame for the above on the mower. Don't put yourself in harm's way. If you're mowing on a slope, a more aggressive tire would be a good start, plus a wider stance. I DO NOT mow when wet, for several reasons.

I've seen it coming down a little in a few places too. No jaw dropping prices yet.

You're right about that. $ 3.84 is still too hard on my budget. Until all the oil valves are open, it's not going to change much, and the oil folks don't have much incentive to do that. My F150 has a 36 gal tank.

GM should replace that truck for free, and hire that kid to be a spokesperson where they show the video and at the end he comes on and declares GM trucks to be "Tornado Tough"

Actually, just saw on FB, that Chevrolet is giving his family a 2022 Chevy truck, loaded, to replace the damaged truck.

  5. I've got a Hustler I've had for 6 years, heavy steel welded deck, 24 HP Kohler engine. I've had zero issues with the engine, or anything else. Service it myself. I've owned several Kohler engines, never had a problem with any of them. It's not commercial grade, mowing 1.34 acres, some of it rough.

  6. We always called him Stumpy. Little funny on him, he drove down from Tomah, Wi twice to visit, stayed a week both times. I asked him if he was ever wounded. He said once. I asked where, he said like Forrest Gump. In the buttocks, LOL.

He left the Army, awarded the CMOH, and the Army talked him into coming back. He did, and they put him in recruiting. He hated that, asked to go back to his old unit in 'Nam. Wish granted. Stayed in & Retired after 29 yrs as Sargent Major.

  7. First of all, I love Cades Cove. My fav place on the planet. On my bucket list is to find & see Gregory's cave. Supposed to be back of John Oliver's cabin. I've yet to locate it. Next trip, I'm going to see if the Rangers can give me detailed instructions.

I'll agree if you go during touring season, be prepared to spend a lot of time sitting still. Made the mistake of riding my motorcycle thru there in summer. Almost roasted.

Also, driving the Dragon ain't no fun in a F150.
