The RAT is one of the best knife values out there. I have seven of them in four different handle colors.

Milled receiver or stamped?

I saw these at the Blade Show. They were at the Ka-Bar booth so I would assume they will be sold by Ka-Bar. The booth rep gave me the following info: They won't be available until 2012. They will come with Grivory handles. You have to buy the Micarta handles separately just like you do for the BK2. MSRP will be around $80.

I'll be there. I got a free VIP pass from Jeff Randall. I'm just wondering if the Bonnaroo traffic on I-24 will be an issue. Any thoughts?

I can't help you. I've been averaging over one new knife a week this year.

I'm planning on going.

We have had the 20 rounds in the mag rule since we started rifle matches in 2008. We do this for two reasons: 1. We really think reloading is a good skill to know. 2. We want a level playing field for everyone. 20rd mags are available for most modern semi-automatic rifles. I have been competing for decades and have seen lots of matches that the match directors have designed with their gear in mind so they can win. For instance, if I have 40rd magazines and design a stage with 34 rounds, I have a huge advantage over those that have 30rd mags since I wouldn't have to waste time reloading.

I have had several 357's. Sig 229 Glock 31 Glock 32 Glock 35 w/ KKM barrel Steyr M357 SA XD S&W M&P (current carry gun). I love the round. Recoil is only slightly more than a 9mm. Not as much muzzle flip as a 40. Same capacity as a 40. What really impressed me was when I started shooting the 357. I used to have steel targets (plate rack, etc) in my backyard range. The 357 destroyed the steel in no time at all. I had shot these targets for years with 9mm and 40cal and didn't do that much damage. So I am sold on the power of the 357. IMO the ONLY downside of the 357 is the cost of ammunition. What I do is have a 9mm pistol identical to my 357, and use the 9mm for practice and IDPA competition to save money on ammo.

Music City Tactical Shooters - IDPA Match April 2nd, 2011
GaryXD replied to HOGNUT's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
But they're nice greedy bastards. And they always put on fun matches. -
Yes you need a cover garment. It's really hard to say when the match will be over. You never know how many people are going to show up. We do run an efficient match normally. We have five bays and several Safety Officers so we can break down into as many squads as necessary to keep things moving. If I had to make a SWAG I would say approximately 1 - 2pm if you don't shoot rifle. Add another hour on for rifle maybe.

Just a reminder. The first match of the year is this coming Saturday March 26th. It will be: Six pistol stages. Round count is 79 but bring at least 100 if you miss a lot like I do. Two rifle stages. Round count will be approximately 50 rounds but bring more. Rifle is optional and scored separately but no additional charge. One stage will be in the shoot house. Check the website for details or feel free to ask questions.

AR lower receivers are not long guns. That being said, multiple sales reports on lowers are not required. ATF Letter Clarifies Rules on Firearm Receiver Transfers « Daily Bulletin

It sucks losing an expensive knife. That's why I normally don't EDC the high end stuff.

I'm getting cheap in my old age and rarely spend over a hundred bucks on a knife. But I was browsing the shops on Fort Campbell Blvd and happened to notice a Zero Tolerance 0200 in the case. I had never handled a ZT before and thought I better fondle one to see what the fuss was all about. WOW! I knew after two seconds I had to take that beast home.
