YouTube Slingshot Man Accused of Training Terrorists

Recommended Posts

Jörg Sprave's videos have attracted millions of YouTube viewers, usually to watch him demonstrate innovative slingshot contraptions. But it's not his rubber bands that are sparking outrage now amongst his audience. They accuse the German of giving instructions to terrorists on how to murder police.

I’m confused. If you have a knife and know someone is wearing a vest, and that someone isn’t shooting you, is any special skills or instructions really required? Bad guys wear vests also.

I believe the uproar is over the fact the officer killed was wearing a stab resistant vest and his attacker stabbed him in venerable areas the SRV didn't cover. There seems to be a general belief that people can't figure how to cut or stab someone and that soft body armor is fully protective. I'd have preferred that the YouTube personality in question hadn't posted the video he did but what he said was already readily available knowledge. All the poster was doing was post something that he knew people would watch which would make him more money.

I am on a forum with Jorg, he is a really great guy. I hate that he is getting a lot of hate from this. I follow some of his threads and enjoy the wacky slingshots he builds.

However, how many people watch videos of vests and jackets being tested? Are are going to condemn anyone who does such? I haven't watched the video in question, but I hardly doubt it was an 'extremist training video.' I have watched several videos of bullet resistant vests and tactical plates being put through the wringer. I never once thought that I was watching an instructional video on how to kill someone.
