Squirrel Hunting?

I went this afternoon.

There were plenty of squirrels at WMA on Percy Priest. Unfortunately, there were also a few people ATV-ing out there. I only came home with one tree rat. I shot at a couple of more, but I didn't feel safe taking some easy shots because I could hear those four wheelers tearing around the logging roads beyond my shot.

I think I will try during the week next time.

I *did* see about 30 turkey walk withing 40 yards of me. Counted at least 3 toms in the mix, but they were passing through some thick stuff.

No gobbling, clucking, or cacking, just walking silently.

I'll know where to ambush in March!

Which part of PP WMA did you go to?

Drive the to end of Mt. View Road. Park in front of the barricade. You'll see the old road continue down towards PP. Anywhere off to the left has older stuff.

There's a little game trail right when you get out of your vehicle. It winds around a bit to the north and east and you will see an almost dried up place I've circled in the image above. There's an old cedar tree that's broken and bent over about 4' up from the ground. I sat under that tree and saw 4 or 5. The turkeys crossed to the west of me about 50 yards away.
