If it were me...I'd want at least $250-$350 to boot...depending on which 835 he offered.

Check the prices of the 835's online...then decide how much the 1911 is worth to you. (used SS Loaded is worth about $600 if its in good shape)

what about the franchi 612. he wants to trade it and $100 for the SA 1911. Is this a good deal?

I guess that depends on the exact model and condition. You should find out as much info as you can, then look on gunbroker and gunsamerica as a reference. Either way, it probably wouldn;t be a "good" deal, unless you really want that shotgun. If you have no need for the shotgun, you're not likely to come out any better if you have to turn around and sell it too.
