Interested in any expertise in the removal of cosmoline from sks rifles. Recently paid a local smith for full removal. The work was not to my satisfaction and I paid 100$. Any thoughts.

In the past, I’ve used a black trash bag on a hot day and left it in the sun. I’ve also had success with heat guns for the wood.

As far as the metal goes, I found boiling water works best in a cheap thrift store pot.

Anywhere you do this, make sure it’s ventilated properly or you’ll be lightheaded afterwards.

Good Luck!

Take it apart, use heat, and hang it in a way that it will drain. The black plastic bag method will get the bulk of it. Be patient. Brake cleaner, Dawn dish soap in really hot water.  Then you'll need to oil everything so it doesn't flash rush.
